this morning I looked out and saw the roses blooming in the front flower bed… kind of amazing considering the rain has been coming down for what seems like days…

then, as I opened the garage door I slipped on the wet wood – all that rain – and went down onto my side…

it was kind of slow motion… took a few seconds before I realized I was okay and then a few minutes to get myself up…

once I got to the office I checked my legs and the sore heel and everything was fine… not even any scrapes…

was a bit nervous when I arrived home and walked through the garage door onto the deck, being careful not to slip again…

made it safely to the back door, lol…

went out to check on the baby fish this morning…

20140629-202951-73791654.jpgnot great pictures but at least you can see them… only found 3 living close to a little cave in the pond…

came into the house and stayed there for the remainder of the day, except when I went out to put some boards by the spot where I think the water is coming into the house…

it rained, and rained, and rained… and when it wasn’t raining the wind was blowing in great gusts…

changed the towels a few times and the water stayed in the laundry room so the rest of the floor and carpet were all dry… yay…

yesterday I took this picture of a tiny daisy-like flower, although the leaves don’t look quite right…

this morning I got up and went out to the garden to enjoy it before the rain came…

had tea and read some of the fifth Game of Thrones book…

eventually I did a bit of weeding and as I worked around the pond I spotted this little guy…

20140628-202749-73669610.jpgfrom my research I think it is a wood frog… very exciting as we’ve never had them visit the pond before… for quite a few years we had leopard frogs spend time here, one year we actually had four…

then, just as the thunder started I spotted three fish babies in the pond… they are about an inch long so will likely survive… wasn’t able to get any pics but will try tomorrow…

the rain came down in buckets…

remember, I watered the plants last night, lol..

it has been threatening to rain since about noon today and the sky tonight is ominous…

20140627-203703-74223456.jpgin fact it was supposed to have rained every day this week… so every day I put off watering…

tonight when I arrived home some of the baskets were gasping… so I spent time watering…

20140627-204229-74549575.jpgused my new amazing hose… got it from the Shopping Channel… it is wonderful… hardly weighs anything… easy to pack up, and I can lift it to water the baskets without any effort… It also never kinks… just love it…

a great help with some of those big girl pants jobs…

this morning as I was walking down the stairs a wave of sadness swept over me… I was missing George so much, I could hardly stand it…

as I was leaving the house I got some shots of the clematis… we were both so excited that it continued to return year after year and bloom so beautifully…

I felt his loss all day… I had an appointment at CancerCare and remembered how he was always there for any appointment I had, just as I was always there for his appointments… Crystal wasn’t able to go with me for this one, and I was a bit nervous as the last two times the examination had been extremely painful… happily, today it was a piece of cake… I was in and out within 20 minutes…

when I got home and was taking off my shoes I looked down and saw this…

a couple of days ago my iPhone wouldn’t let me take a picture, because it said it was full… at the time I just deleted a few pictures and forgot about it…

earlier today a message flashed across my screen about memory being full…

tonight I spent about an hour copying and then deleting pictures…

I took this one as I was heading toward the car after dropping off our mail…

this sculpture is called Emptyful and has water coming down as well as mist floating through the air… at night the lights on it rotate through three or four colours…

you have to be careful which side you walk through so that you don’t get misted on… always seems to be misting on overcast cool days and it never mists on you on the hot days as you walk past…

the weather has been a bit odd, mainly cloudy and cool, and the blue sky was just starting to emerge  as I was leaving work… rain has been threatening for a few days but keeps holding off… tomorrow morning I am going to have to water the plants in the garden… that will probably bring the rain, lol…

was a long day at work and I had to stop and pick up some groceries for a meeting tomorrow, so by the time I drove up to the house I was feeling tired and a bit sorry for myself…

as I turned into the driveway the flower beds jumped out at me…

I’ve been able to see the grass moving from the living room while sitting down, lol…

apparently my irises have been blooming and I didn’t even know it…

besides the two flower beds he also mowed the grass in the front yard and the back garden…

perked me right up…

now I have to decide whether to just put down newspaper over the bed and around the plants in it or dig up the five or six plants I want to keep and put them into pots on top of the newspaper which will kill the grass under it…

this afternoon was given a bamboo plant…

reminded me of the one that a friend of the girls’ brought me four years ago when I had gall bladder surgery following a bad bout of pancreatitis…

usually the plants in the house get watered on Saturday mornings… strange schedules have caused me to forgot for the last few weeks…

happily, when I went to take this picture, I remembered and it is now happily wet…

as I was heading out to work this morning, the clematis had buds opening, so I had to stop the car, climb out in a very awkward spot, reach into the back of the car to get my camera and then got this shot…

had a very poor sleep last night… when I got up I started the day with a hot tub…

designed and printed a birthday card for my grandson, which I was able to do from my chair in the garden, thanks to some of the work of my son-in-law when they were here last weekend…

was just thinking about making something to eat when my daughter texted to let me know she was at the hospital with a possible broken foot…

spent the next three hours with her in Emergency…

helped with the party and got a ride home and am now heading for bed… the day didn’t turn out quite as planned or expected…

then into the garden to read and enjoy a cup of tea…
