well, had a surprise Sunday morning…
I opened the patio door to feel the temperature, and realized it had rained during the night…
and apparently there had been a strong wind as I discovered that one of the chairs on the deck had blown over and down the steps on the far side… the footstool was the only thing still on the deck…
went out and brought up the chair… had to yank one of the cushions out of the snow…
brought the cushions into the house, as well as the footstool, to dry out, sigh…
didn’t put the cover back on the chair… don’t want it to fly off the deck, lol…
pleased that I dealt with this early, as the next time I looked out it was raining;-)…

went to a craft show the other day…
found a crossbody bag which will be excellent for a fall trip that is in the planning stages…
I think it will be perfect for a small water bottle, my camera, and maybe a scarf or sarong…
next I found a beautiful purple plant pot… haven’t quite decided what plant is going to go into it… it is bottom heavy so it won’t tip over and has drainage holes in it…
finally, ordered a cute purple duck tape wallet…

cleaning the pumps in the fishtanks is not one of my favourite things to do… my beloved took care of this job… then for a number of years, my son-in-law looked after the task, lol…
now, it is up to me…
once I get started it isn’t that big a deal and doesn’t really take that long…
and to top it off this week, I scrubbed the algae from the glass front…
always happy when all the cleaning is complete…
and I think the fish like it as well;-)…

it’s been nearly a year since I began volunteering at The Leaf…
since that time I have only come across four people that I know 🤪…
the first person was in the summer, not long after I’d started…
since then I hadn’t seen anyone I know until last week when I met a friend I hadn’t seen for a very long time… luckily I was able to do a quick catch up with them…
then today, I came across two people I knew…
one was early on in my shift and the other as I was moving from one spot to another…
how crazy is that and a great treat 😊…

for Easter dinner this year, we had barbecued steak, twice-stuffed potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and caesar salad…
I’d had great fun the day before, setting the table and adding a few Easter-y details…
dinner was delicious and we had carrot cake to finish it off…
wonderful to have a houseful of young people, lol… and between them the table was cleared and the kitchen cleaned up…
what a treat….

a while ago, when I opened one of the drawers in the dining room, I realized that the bottom was coming away from the sides…
this had nothing to do with the weight of the dishes in the drawer🤪…
I mentioned it to my middle grandson, who advised he could fix it… he’s been a few times since then, but it finally worked out when he was here yesterday, for Easter dinner…
I had emptied the drawer before he came to help speed along the process…
it took a few trips to the basement for tools and a struggle with warped wood, but he got it fixed…
still waiting to put things back into it, after I remove some of the items that had been in it…
obviously there will be something for the pass-along box;-)…

I often have an afternoon nap in the den…
I’ve found, for most of the winter, that I needed my blanket to be up by my neck because of the draft…
I just figured that the window needed some insulation…
a few days ago, I realized that there was a piece of virginia creeper between the window and the screen… and of course I didn’t take a before picture, lol…
yesterday, my housemate was able to dislodge it and close the window properly…
no draft now…
