I ordered a wide-brimmed hat online on July 6th…
time went by and it didn’t arrive, so I began to think I’d made a donation to some online company…
today, it arrived… I was excited and happy to show my friends to see what they thought as I don’t usually wear hats other than ball caps, lol…
they approved and it is now resting on the tower fan🤭…
looks good…

went out to get a couple of pop-up laundry hampers for the monarch caterpillars…
hope they protect them from the birds…
so far I’ve spotted three, which is about the correct number for the amount of leaves on the milkweed plants;-)…
and I’m hoping that they might end up building their chrysalises in them as well…

my housemate was away on vacation and just returned…
I was treated to an absolutely beautiful kitchen towel that has a sea turtle on it…
a light and airy sarong…
and 3 boxes of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts…
Costco used to carry them in a big plastic jug, but they haven’t had them for ages…
talk about spoiled 😊…

I have a doctor’s appointment next week which meant that this week I had to have bloodwork done…
Dynacare come to the house and the process takes about ten minutes…
this technician is one of my favourites…
he is quick, efficient and rarely leaves me with a bruise…
last time was quite different, lol…

I’ve had my yoga mat out for a few weeks now… since I saw my physiotherapist…
for the first week I did a couple of exercises involving rocking my legs and lifting them to my chest… not too difficult and they seemed to help with the twisted knee…
then, the next week a new exercise involving my core came along…
this one seems more complicated and harder… which also makes it harder to get down and do them, lol…
but, this week marks 14 years since I had a hernia/hysterectomy surgery to deal with cancer of the uterus which made me cancer-free…
that puts a little thing like a difficult exercise into perspective, doesn’t it🤨….

a number of monarchs (or the same one numerous times) have visited the garden and stopped to snack at the ageratum…
unfortunately, none appeared interested in the milkweed…
I’ve been checking it for the last week, but have not seen any eggs…
yesterday, when I was inspecting the plants which had a number of holes in them, I spotted two tiny caterpillars;-)… only got one in focus, lol…
today, they have already grown a lot…
so excited to see them;-)…
wondering if I need to put the hamper net, which is currently covering the strawberries, over this plant, so the birds don’t get them 🤔…

I was surprised today when my middle grandson arrived…
I had messaged him on Sunday about a piece of siding that looked to be coming off the house and I was worried it might come right down…
today, he stopped by on his way home from work to check it out and see if he could fix it…
with a little bit of ingenuity, he managed to get the piece of vinyl back up, although we will need to pick up a tube of silicone and he will come back and do a permanent fix…
my job, when anyone is on the ladder, is to hold the sides and make sure the bottom of it is flat, lol…

I was up at 6:30 to watch the F1 pre-race show, and then the race, when the power went out…
I reported it and then went outside to read, happy that the race would be recorded on the PVR…
it is always so quiet when this happens, and, as it was very early, there were few people or cars up and about…
enjoyed a delightful couple of hours in the cool weather, with my book, and the fish, who actually made noise as they were eating and searching for food in the pond…
usually you never hear them…
all of a sudden water came spurting out of the waterfall and the sound of air conditioners humming ended the quiet…
then it was time to make tea and breakfast and get back to the schedule…

on the walk to the hairdresser I took a few pictures of flowers and plants along the lane…
looks a lot better than my weed filled area, lol…
got the haircut and walked back home…
then lazed around the house and garden for the rest of the day🙂…

while my housemate is away, it has been my job to feed Tatsu, the bearded dragon, her vegetables…
only once has she come right up to the glass, as clearly the veggies had not arrived soon enough…
took a while for her to move off to the side so I could open the glass door and put her dish in… yikes… since then I have been putting them in around 9 am when she is still sleepy…
a friend of his has come every two days to feed her the bugs, because I could not be convinced to do that job🤪…
what one does for their grandchildren…
