made it to Vicki’s Alterations with a pair of pants I bought from a friend… they needed about 6 inches taken up, lol…
I also took in one of my favourite long dresses which didn’t have pockets so they could add some to it, woohoo…
they were quite busy, so I got them about a week later… so happy…
the pants are perfect and I am thrilled with the pockets as I really like wearing this particular dress;-)…

the hot tub was emptied a few weeks ago and we’ve been waiting for a friend to look at the broken side of the lid to see if there is a way to fix it… they weren’t available so my housemate decided to see what he could do…
we finally got around to moving it away from the wall and looking to see what might work to repair it…
many screws have been removed, and we now know what the issue was regarding the right side lid…
all new screws and bolts were purchased and a new backing inside the body of the tub was installed on both sides to make the opening and closing mechanism stronger…
it took quite some time to get it sorted and then replace all the rusted screws that hold the eight panels around the tub…
while it was out and empty, a tiny portion of the deck that it sits up against was sawn off, which made a huge difference when the tub was back in place… now the side that rubbed against the gate opens easily…
next, the tub was filled and the pump turned back on… it will be another day or so before the temperature is back to normal…
the lid works properly… I am so happy;-)…
started with a new set of chemicals and looking forward to my first hot tub…

the storm on Tuesday was quite something…
I was worried the hail was going to come right through the windows even though it was only marble-sized in our neighbourhood…
yesterday when I wandered around the garden, I could see how much the hail had damaged the plants…
the hostas took a real beating and the poppies were knocked over by a branch which fell down from the elm tree next door…
but their colour still popped;-)…

yesterday I went out to have my breakfast in the garden and spotted the bright orange all the way across the garden… with its reflection in the pond…
woohoo, what a great start to the day

since our new bbq – Glowy – arrived in April, we (my housemate!) have been barbecuing much more often…
recently we had hamburgers which were delicious… I’ve gotten a bit more lazy and have been buying premade patties, but they are much tastier than previous versions…
this bbq has extra btu, so it is easy to get good heat for searing and lovely grill marks;-)…
we’ve also done chicken, steak, lobster, sausage, and lamb, as well as zucchini, potatoes, and onions…
wondering what we might try next;-)…

great anticipation and excitement on Saturday…
we’ve been looking into air conditioner splits, as well as a new air conditioner for a while now…
the current air conditioner hasn’t worked for at least three years, and maybe even five… I can’t remember…
when I had someone in to look at it, they said it was leaking freon and couldn’t be repaired… it has sometimes been very hot upstairs but I managed with a tower fan…
last year I’d been quoted around $5,000 to replace it and that just seemed too much, particularly as the cold air never really made it upstairs, lol…
we had an HVAC person in the other day and the splits just weren’t going to work here… before moving forward with a new air conditioner, they suggested trying to get the old one working… they came back on Saturday to see if they could get the old one going…
they were here for a couple of hours and got it working😁😆😄…
the problem was the virginia creeper which had wound its way around the motor… I guess the other company was just wanting me to purchase a new air conditioner…
it is recording 13 something and the optimum is 20, so that sounds quite wonderful to me…
my housemate is going to be exceedingly happy…

went to a new place to get my hair cut on Friday… the place I’d been going to for years closed recently… I was disappointed because it was close and a nice walk to get there, and there was lots of parking if I had to drive…
today I went to Top End Studio Inc. it is one block up and three streets over, so even closer;-)…
had a lovely experience… the owner is very personable and did a great job cutting my hair…
I am excited that they use elumen and have an appointment scheduled for August to get purpled again, woohoo…

the light was shining nicely on the poppies as they get ready to open…
looks to be about a dozen buds, and possibly more to come…
this year everything is quite behind, but the hot weather has made some things bolt;-)…
I always feel that the warm weather is finally here once the poppies start blooming;-)…
still going to be a few days before they open, I think…

had a lovely lunch at Gather with my adventure buddy… our server, Nicky, was very helpful…
I had the French toast, with a side of bacon…
my buddy enjoyed the mushroom toast…
she also enjoyed the Basque Cheescake
with Strawberry, mint, delivered by Brian, the new GM…
after the delicious lunch, we had a wander through the Gardens at The Leaf…
always happy to find another view of The Leaf;-)…

last year we moved the little lilac bush from the garden to the front yard…
it just didn’t seem happy in the spot we had it and for the last couple of years it hadn’t produced any flowers at all…
the hope was that it would like the extra sun it would get out front…
not too long after it arrived in its new spot we built an inukshuk beside it with a collection of limestone pieces that we had…
this spring it didn’t look as though it had survived and then, all of a sudden, it sprang up…
and, just this morning, I spotted at least four little bunches of buds… can’t wait for them to open…
so exciting;-)…
