today, after a three day wait, I had haddock and chips from Finest at Sea… my daughter had the salmon tacos…
we couldn’t fit this spot in before this, as we’ve been very busy…
everything was delicious;-)… what a delightful treat…
the weather had been wonderful all day, so we took a lovely stroll, to wear off the calories, lol…

I haven’t had purple in my hair for over six years… basically since covid when I stopped going to my colour person…
when the place I’d been going to for haircuts recently closed down, I found a hairdresser within walking distance…
she did a great job cutting my hair and we discussed the Elumen that I’d been using, and which she carried in her salon…
we booked a date and I was so happy to get there…
in the end she used two products… the Elumen which I’ve had before and really lasts a long time, and a little bit of the Pravana Everlasting … which will be a bit darker… she wants to compare the two of them to see which lasts longer and doesn’t come off on pillowcases or other things…
it came out very nice, once I got used to it again, lol… subtle 😊…

started the garden parties with a visit to The Leaf…
after a private tour of the Biomes, with me as the tour guide, we had lunch at Gather…
we shared these…
I’d never had burrata before so was eager to taste it… it went nicely with the peaches and pistachios, but unfortunately, the peaches were under ripe… would likely have been delicious otherwise…
we had them put the blueberries on the side as neither of us really like them, lol, and I quite enjoyed this salad, which was different from what I had had on previous visits…
then it was outside to check out the Water Terrace and the Outdoor Gardens… had a lovely stroll and found monarch butterflies and happy bees everywhere…
had some fun picture taking… by this time it was getting rather hot, so we headed home…
next garden will be on Vancouver Island 😁…

one of my favourite songs is by Willie Nelson – On the Road Again…
for years and years we would play it when we finally got into the car (after getting everything and everyone packed) for a trip…
before we left the driveway, my beloved would turn this song on…
I still play it when we are headed out on a road trip🙂…
it just means travel, snacks, and good times to me…

got a new toy😊…
it is a mini printer (Ivy, by Canon) that connects to the phone and produces a cute little 2 by 3 photo sticker… what a clever idea my daughter had…
we’ve started a little journal and have chosen a few favourites each day…we print them, collaborate on the wording, and then she hand prints a little story for each photo…
my main job is to get the sticky paper off each one and place them in our little book, lol… and let me say, it takes work🤪…
what fun 🤩…

my daughter arrived from Ottawa recently…
one of the things we try to do when we are together is get a pedicure, and I was able to arrange one the day after she arrived…
we went to a local spot and had fun while we were being pampered… I hardly twitched or giggled through the process… she was proud…
I chose purple for my colour and she chose orange… we may be a bit boring, as we almost always choose those colours 😊… but I did get sparkles on mine, thanks to her suggestion…
and now we have pretty toes…

wandered around the house looking for my monopod which my grandson gave me for Christmas a few years ago…
searched high and low and finally spotted it hanging right at the front door, lol…
I think it was pretending to be an umbrella, lol…
going to try it with my camera to see if it might be better than my tripod, lol…
although it doesn’t let the camera move at all…
we shall see…

set the den up for company and was able to accomplish it in a much simpler manner…
rather than bring out the sofa table and turn the couch, I was able to set it up so the bed could be closed, but left in the same spot… often we bring down a mattress to put on top of the pullout, but this is a shorter trip so decided not to do that… the only thing that came out was a small roller cabinet…
once you are in the room and close the door the bed opens up nicely…
but I didn’t think about leaving the room in the middle of the night 😳… luckily, she was able to slip through the space between the door and edge of the bed, lol…

many of my friends have, and use, trekking poles (sounds much better than walking sticks)…
since my knee issues, I’ve wondered whether it might be an idea to get some if I’m doing any amount of walking…
the physio has certainly helped my balance, but I decided to check the poles out…
I went to Diamond Athletic Medical Supplies and got a pair that are orange and they have little feet on them…
the person helping me figured out how long they need to be, so I have to remember that number on the side of them…
I’ve since marked the line with a sharpie, following a recommendation from a friend…
much easier than remembering, lol…

while we were at my friends’ cabin, I slept on a soft bed… I always bring a comforter and my own pillow, then just fold the comforter in half and treat it like a sleeping bag…
I realized after the first night that my back and knees didn’t hurt at all… and that kept up for the whole trip…
so, I decided to look for a topper for my mattress…
my daughter suggested I try using the thin mattress in the pullout couch… my housemate brought it upstairs and I got it onto the bed and put the sheets and covers over it…
after all that, it didn’t make a difference… so took it off and returned it to the den…
next we went looking for bed toppers…
they were rather expensive and made me wonder if I needed to replace the mattress, which is about twelve years old… when I saw my physio guy, he suggested most mattresses needed to be replaced after ten years…
so, we went shopping… in person and online… did you know that soft (or plush, to use the correct term) mattresses cost more than the 90% that are firm or medium firm😳…
we finally found a company that has been in business for over thirty years and make the mattresses right here in the city…
the person we spoke with, and bought from, was very knowledgeable and didn’t try to upsell us…
and it was ready and delivered in five days, so I could enjoy it (hopefully with happy knees and back)…
I also arranged for Mother Earth Recycling to pick up and reuse bits and pieces of the old mattress 🙂…
now I have a happy back and knees…
