spent time in the garden Saturday morning…
the job was to level out the ground as much as possible…
soil, compost and sand were mixed by the wheelbarrow full and then dumped and levelled across the grass using a handmade levelling rake…
it took quite awhile but eventually the space seems much flatter…
next, a mix of grass and clover seed was spread over the entire area and then gently raked in…
finally, the entire area was watered…
now to wait for it to grow…

this morning I went out for a Mother’s Day hot tub…
it has been 17 years since the first day of hot tubbing in the garden which was on Mother’s Day in 2009;-)…
amazing to think of all the laughter, deep conversations, and fun, shared in this little tub of warm water…
always a wonderful reminder on Mother’s Day…

yesterday we began the newest garden project…
we started with trimming the cedars at the back of the garden…
we filled two bags with branches…
it is always a process to decide when enough has been trimmed, and it is time to stop, lol…

last week I bought a lovely scarf at The Leaf…
today, while I was working my shift at the Mediterranean Biome exit spot, I watched a woman unfold a purple t-shirt in the Gift shop which is just outside the exit and perfectly in my view, lol…
so at the end of my day, I went and found one for me…
it is lovely and I know I will enjoy wearing it this summer;-)…
I may have to stop looking through those doors, lol…
a bit later, after I got home, a friend stopped by with a delicious piece of cake… we’d talked earlier in the week about this exact dessert… a lovely treat and visit…
I did share it with my housemate;-)…
pretty fine day…

we went out for sushi and I reminded us that we shouldn’t over-order, lol… cause we always do…
here is what we ordered, and it was delicious…
and, of course, it was too much, lol…
we brought home enough for lunch tomorrow 🤪…

just after I took this photo of a beautiful allium, a visitor asked me what it was…
then I had a lovely conversation with another visitor who was telling me about the allium that grew in her garden outside of the city… she said they grew six feet tall and took over the garden…
made me laugh as I shared how this was one of my beloved’s favourites and no matter what we did, they would not grow for us…
we ended the conversation noting that, in our experience, some plants will or won’t grow for certain people, lol…

today, while I was working an early shift at The Leaf, I spotted this beautiful hummingbird scarf, which I then had to buy;-)…
it is made out of plastic bottles and is sooo soft and lightweight…
one of the great things about the Gift Shop there is how often they change the products…
and, if you see something you want, you need to buy it right away, because it might not be there the next time you go, lol…

spent time in the garden on a lovely day…
used the pond pump to empty the water on top of the tarp and then took the tarp off the pond…
took a few minutes to lay it out on the grass to dry out…
we moved a few planters to new places and will see if they stay in those spots…
did a little bit of raking of leaves, but there is still a lot to do…
and also spent some time reading in one of the chairs which recently came out of the shed…

my buddy and I have been going to aquasize long before we both retired…
since retirement, we’ve been going to the Pan Am Pool, either Tuesdays or Thursdays…
last year my buddy went to the annual Aquasize Lunch and this year we both went…
we had a lovely meal at Breezy Bend…
it was fun to try to recognize one another with clothes, hair, and makeup…
there were lots of items to try to win, although we didn’t bring anything home, lol…
a lovely group of people;-)…
and the service was excellent…

took Indi to have a bath this morning…
spent a few minutes before leaving home to empty out the trunk so it could be cleaned as well…
when I arrived there were maybe 10 or 15 cars lined up, but I decided to wait…
took about 25 minutes to get in and then about 15 to run through the machinery…
she always looks gorgeous when she comes out, and with her summer rims on, lol…
when she was done there were about 40 cars waiting…
good thing I waited, lol…
