we went to Black MarketProvisions and found a few fun things…
from there we had lunch at The Oakwood… I had salmon dill Eggs Benedict, which I’ve been craving recently, and my friend had a roast turkey sandwich… very nice…
we also checked out a few stores for some outdoor furniture that I’ve been looking at online… of course no one had it in the store…
was dropped off at home and had a nap…
all that shopping and being out and about was exhausting, lol…
recently my grandson and I had a conversation about some fun times… two of the things he remembered are below…
one was a tubing trip down the river in Courtenay, BC, where I was knocked off the tube by a tree branch and lost my new hat… everyone but me was quite happy as they hadn’t liked it, lol… he was around seven at the time… I ended up with a bruised leg and a gash on my head… it certainly was something I won’t forget, and apparently neither will he…
the other memory was around a beta fish in a vase that I kept on my desk at one of my workplaces… he has always been interested in fish and is a great collaborator with the goldfish…
so interesting to hear the things he remembers;-)…
not long ago I wrote about all the bunny tracks in the fresh snow and wondering if it was one busy bunny or many…
a few nights ago, as I was starting to get out of the hot tub – I was feeling a bit lonely without my recent companion – I watched four little bunnies shoot through the gate beside the hot tub, hop down the path and across to the far corner of the garden…
and then they raced around the garden, onto the deck and up and down the snowbanks before hopping past me a few more times…
they were having a blast and so was I;-)…
once I came in, I spotted another one out the front window on the front sidewalk…
over the last three or four days I have cooked a lot in the kitchen…
I produced a beautiful corn chowder with some leftover corn on the cob…
then I made zucchini-basil soup with most of my basil and added a bit of chicken to the recipe as well…
and finally I free-styled Calico beans… didn’t have as many canned beans in the house as required nor any molasses, but it came out great anyway, lol… and it was nice to have some of my dahlias around…
there is certainly lots of choice in the fridge just now…
will be putting a few of them into the freezer for lazy days…
recently home, following a two day vacation, which easily felt like four days…
drove up to the cottage with a friend one morning and returned home the next evening…
we had a wonderful time… we sat on the beach for a while, spent time walking and beachcombing, spotted numerous mushrooms, watched a wonderful display of pelicans and cormorants, ate great food, relaxed, and talked by the fire…
the cleaners were here today and while they were inside the house, I was in the garden on the back deck spending time with googly finding the answers to the Happy Mail for Chocolate Lovers crossword that I received in an email mid-August;-)…
it was fun learning new facts about the various places where cacao grows…
I love the Olympics and have watched them for years… I remember a trip we took once and how we had to have access to TVs at the end of each day so that I could keep up with what was happening, lol…
I like to watch in real time so that means reorganizing my sleep schedule to get the best results…
for these ones I couldn’t decide how I felt about them going ahead this year… but now they are happening, I am in… I usually get a Canada Day t-shirt and had purchased one a while ago, but on July 1st I decided not to wear it… as the games began, I put it on;-)…
on Friday I was up at 5:30 am to watch the opening ceremony and ordered McDonald’s for breakfast so I didn’t have to stop watching to make something…
at one point during the first day I was switching between tv channels and streaming on my phone at the same time and I considered turning on the laptop as well… in the end I decided the laptop would be overkill…
I have slowed down slightly… apparently I need a bit more sleep these days…
the great thing about streaming is that I can watch some of the sports that I enjoy most but which don’t always get shown on tv…
the surfing, gymnastics and dressage have been lovely to watch, even if not exactly as they happened…
I’ve even taken the laptop out into the garden so that I can enjoy the weather and not miss anything, lol…
so happy to be able to watch whenever and wherever… retirement is a lovely thing;-)…
