my friend is decluttering, and donating many of her books to a local book sale…

when she mentioned this, I offered to help and shop at the same time…

we had great fun, going through shelves upstairs and down, as she decided what could go, and the few that needed to remain…

she’d give me reviews as the books came off the shelves…

I had brought a single grocery store box to hold the ones I would bring home, lol…

we made two trips to drop off the books…

when I got home, there was that box, a grocery bag and two cardboard boxes… all full👀…

refilled the stair library with a few of them…

still thinking about where the rest will go🤪…

I spent a delightful five days with friends at their family beach cottage…

delicious food, great company, naps, lots of conversation, and I was in the lake, at least once, up to my neck…

spent lots of time on the beach, early in the morning, on my own, and all together on a few days…

we walked a good portion of the beach a few times with our newly prepared walking sticks…

and walked the road to the pump, which had a snake handle…

there was also a real snake😳… which had me stomping and speaking loudly as I walked along where it had been seen…

weather was nice, lots of sunshine, a bit of wind and some rainy/overcast times… so, a bit of everything…

my particular expertise is washing the dishes…

other than that it was all about reading…

we did play ladder golf, a new game to me, (although I may have seen my grandsons play a version of it a number of years ago), which was fun…

what a treat 😊…

we went to Pizzeria Gusto for a delicious lunch to celebrate a birthday… last time we were there was 2017😊… and we still liked some of the same things…

yesterday marked fifty-six years since my beloved and I were married…

unbelievable that I have spent the last fourteen without him…

just last week I discovered that a young friend has moved into the apartment building where I lived with my parents at that time…

I can still remember looking down from the balcony and seeing our brown Chevelle, as the guys dropped it off that morning…

and bursting into tears of excitement;-)…

yesterday, I got this photograph looking down from their apartment balcony to where our car would have been that morning…

I spent some time looking for a photo that I was sure I had, of the decorated car from the balcony of our apartment, but could not find it, lol…

amazing that they are living there now😊…

I ordered a wide-brimmed hat online on July 6th…

time went by and it didn’t arrive, so I began to think I’d made a donation to some online company…

today, it arrived… I was excited and happy to show my friends to see what they thought as I don’t usually wear hats other than ball caps, lol…

they approved and it is now resting on the tower fan🤭…

I’ve been enjoying the roses around the house…

they remind me of my dear friend and former neighbour, Ellen…

from the time the girls were born, she and her husband looked after them whenever we needed help…

whatever time we were having dinner she would take them next door so we could actually eat without interruption, lol…

we used to have them over for dinner on Wednesday nights and she would babysit while we went bowling… that was a very long time ago…

now I have one of her rose bushes in the front flowerbed and think of her often…

especially when I bring the beautiful roses into the house😊…

so, the other day my adventure buddy brought me some beautiful peonies and they looked and smelled delicious…

what I didn’t know about peonies is that they guzzle water like crazy and just possibly they ran out of water…

I added more water when I realized what had happened, but most of them didn’t perk up…

eventually, I tossed out the very dead ones and cut back the few remaining…

and I also put some of the dead ones into a small vase to put in the den because they still smelled delicious…

a few buds went into a small container and they have opened;-)…

celebrated a birthday lunch for one of our group…

we went to the newly renovated Park Cafe…

it is always fun to figure out a time that works for everyone, even though we are all retired, lol…

the restaurant was very busy and after a short wait we made it onto the patio… the birthday girl’s choice…

a bit overcast, and cool, and it did spit for a few minutes, but we were protected by the large umbrellas over the tables…

there were burgers eaten and the new spinach salad, with falafel, was devoured…

dessert included banana pudding and the berry good sundae;-)…

we always have a great time together;-)…

had a lovely lunch at Gather with my adventure buddy… our server, Nicky, was very helpful…

I had the French toast, with a side of bacon…

my buddy enjoyed the mushroom toast…

she also enjoyed the Basque Cheescake
with Strawberry, mint, delivered by Brian, the new GM…

after the delicious lunch, we had a wander through the Gardens at The Leaf…

always happy to find another view of The Leaf;-)…
