this morning I was reminded of how beautiful hoarfrost can be… the pictures I came across were from eight years ago and showed the elm tree that lived across the street…
it was cut down a few years ago…
I took a photo to compare and was surprised at how much the cedar in our front yard has grown… the photo also shows the huge hole where the tree used to be…
yesterday my middle grandson came over to shovel for me… there wasn’t too much snow, but after the last snowfall, everything froze and the sidewalk was crazy icy… I didn’t want that to happen again, lol… there had been a skiff of snow and I had gone out and swept the sidewalk just the day before…
it was cute watching him put his hoodie up over his baseball cap, which he had on backwards, lol… of course there were earbuds in as he listened to his music while doing the job… he did have gloves because I couldn’t give him grandpa’s to wear which often happened before when he forgot…
he did the front, the driveway and all of the back decks and pathways… the garage camera even got a few photos for me… he was happy to get the December payment which will help with his Christmas gift shopping…
it was wonderful to see him, even though it was only through the windows… and now all of the spaces are cleaned…
I’ve had these pyjamas for years… the pants have been too long the entire time… I usually wear them when it is cold as they are made of a soft and comfy fleece…
had some fun in the kitchen a few days ago after I took out the garbage from the den closet cleanup…
last week I found a recipe for homemade suet and added a few of the items to my grocery order so that I could make some for the birds…
it seems like a simple recipe with just 5 ingredients…
while making this, tomato sauce for my supper was simmering on the stove…
I made a double recipe so hope the birds like it, lol…
I used a sushi container and another container I found… after melting and mixing everything together, they went into the freezer to solidify…
I’ve put some out front in the suet holder and also put a bit in one of the saucers in the garden… so far it doesn’t seem to have the birds swarming to it;-(…
my problem now is that I am nearly out of sunflower seeds and won’t likely be getting any for at least a few weeks…
I’ve been thinking of a friend’s mother who used fur coats as draft stoppers… she had numerous fur coats and it just seemed like the funniest thing to me, although even in those days people were no longer wearing fur, so it was a good use of the coats, lol…
there is a vertical space along the bottom of my front door and I have been trying to figure out what needs to be done to fix it…
my handiperson is supposed to be coming before too long to check it out, but as I sit reading in the living room there is quite a cold draft across the floor…
this afternoon I took one of my winter coats and hung it on the doorknob and I think it is stopping the cold air;-)… or at least slowing it down…
