Diary Day 18… the last one…

got up and had a lovely seafood Benedict and asparagus… finished packing and fiddled with the bags to make sure the big one wasn’t too heavy… ended up leaving lens solution and a pair of shoes behind, lol… apparently I bought quite a bit of stuff…

crab and prawn benedict was my last dinner at Cyndi and Ron's...

put on my big girl pants for the short flight to Calgary with a 45 minute stopover…

and then the last hour and a half to Winnipeg… last part of the flight was a bit bumpy but I did laugh as I heard a male voice go “woo hoo”…

picked up by Crystal and the boys and home…

we had crab (and pizza) for dinner, and I took the last food photo of the trip… distributed a few presents and then everyone left…

I watched the Tony Awards, first TV I’ve seen since I left home…

have to sort through my bags to find something clean to wear to work tomorrow and am looking forward to sleeping in my bed tonight…

it is good to be home:-)…

did a lot of nothing today… had a bad sleep and finally got up around 7, made tea and read a bit…

after Cyndi got home from taking Ron to work we sat and chatted for quite a while…

then we went out looking for the Wednesday Farmers’ Market but instead found some lovely flowers…

picked up some cash and came back and downloaded all of our pictures… took quite a while to go through them all…

sat on the deck in the sun for a while and then came in and napped for a bit…

had a BBQ chicken, twice-stuffed potato and salad for supper and then started to work on our Alaska cruise book…

DQ Blizzards for dessert and a walk to Puntledge Park finished off the evening…

now I am going to pack a bit of my bag for tomorrow’s excursion and head to bed…

woke up at the usual 5:30 but went back to sleep until 8:15… made tea and checked email and read the Globe and Mail…

once we were all up, we went for breakfast at the top of the hotel where there were great views of downtown and the harbour… booked our Tea at the Empress…

packed our bags, put everything in the car and checked out…

walked to the harbour and toured the Undersea World… nothing to write home about…

after the show we headed to the Empress for a wonderful tea experience… we wore gloves and Cyndi had on pearls and a lacy headband… it was delightful… lovely sandwiches, scones, and we even had the chef bring us honey in the comb from their own hives…

then a horse drawn carriage picked us up and we had a 45 minute tour…

what a lovely way to end our stay in Victoria…

drove the Malahat, stopping at all the viewing spots and arrived in Courtenay just after 8… had pizza delivered for our dinner… got our bags in and are heading to bed… been a long, eventful and enjoyable day…

got up around 7… sunny and warm outside… beautiful day to spend time in the Butchart Gardens… had a good sleep…

got in the car,picked up McDonalds and were on our way to the Gardens…

we walked around them for six wonderful hours, taking pictures and admiring the scenery… we had ice cream, lunch and Gelati while we were there….

had a nap when we got back to the hotel and then rented a movie and ate snacks…

went to The Keg for dinner and made it back to the hotel rather late as the service was very slow…

having a small glass of Baileys as I finish up today’s post…

Diary Day 6

woke up at 3 and went on deck to see stars… weren’t any as the sky was filled with clouds… back to bed till 6:30…

today we are in Ketchikan for our last stop on the cruise… the picture shows the overcast as we embarked from the ship in the morning… by the time we were back on board the sum was shining again…

had an early breakfast and put on swim suits for our excursion – snorkelling with Snorkel Alaska…

had a great time, hardest part was getting into the wetsuit, boots and gloves… swam through a kelp forest, saw star fish (lots of them were purple and most of the others were orange), sea urchins and schools of fish – maybe 4 or 5 kinds… the guides were great and gave excellent instruction… I wasn’t cold for even a minute which was fabulous…

back to the ship to drop off our stuff, lunch and into town for some final shopping… had a snack of Alaska King Crab and checked out a few stores, then back to the ship…

followed a well-deserved nap with a bit of time in the hot tub… my arms are especially sore from the snorkelling as I was holding onto a float the whole time, lol…

got dressed and went to dinner… tonight we had steak and lobster…

another presentation of the arial act we saw a few nights ago and now in my room ready for bed… been a long day…

looking forward to the day on the ship tomorrow as we head toward Seattle, our final destination…
