very full day… started planting after I had a lovely cup of tea in the garden…

kids came over and we went to Rona and bought an electric battery operated lawn mower… stopped and bought more plants and when we got home we continued filling planters and pots…

once the battery was charged Jeff mowed the very long grass and gave me a lesson so I could do it myself if I had to, which was the whole point of getting it…

20140601-211054-76254808.jpga lovely vignette by the back door with hibiscus, dahlia, tomato and basil in some new purple pots…

pots were planted, feeder fixed, shelf built, pond cleaned and pump working, water barrel levelled and then we enjoyed barbecued steak with potatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and Caesar salad…

shortly after supper everyone headed home and I wandered around the garden to enjoy all the work that we accomplished…

such great workers, my kids… great day…

enjoyed a lovely morning… got my hair purpled and then went to a garden centre where I had way too much fun…

20140531-214157-78117930.jpgwas forced to stop shopping when I ran out of room in the cart… but I did get a beautiful water hyacinth and a lovely water lily for the pond…

20140531-214401-78241437.jpgunfortunately I worked on one of the ponds in the garden and spent a bit too much time in the sun… may have a touch of sunstroke as I’ve been feeling sick for the rest of the day…

spring planting makes me happy, but it also makes me miss my beloved…

this afternoon I was wishing I had some flowers for tomorrow’s Easter dinner…

not an hour later my nephew stopped by with a lovely orchid for my birthday from he and his mom…

20140419-203346.jpggot to sit on the deck for a while before the sun went behind the clouds and spent time preparing for tomorrow’s dinner… stuffing is done and the potatoes are peeled…

tried to find a pedometer online and over the phone, as we are starting a walking contest at work on Tuesday… no luck yet, but hope to get one on Monday…

took care of a few chores around the house and watched tv…

more melting outside…

was always George’s job to make sure the bunny had been… last year I wasn’t able to deal with it, but this year I will check in the morning to see if the bunny came… hope we get mini eggs…

last night I spent some time in the hot tub…

was thinking about the conversations that George and I used to have there late in the evening, in the dark…

we’d talk about work, the house, the kids, everything…

went through the day missing him… we had a few jobs at the office that he would have helped sort out…

had problems with some technology during the day and this evening as well…

feel a bit like spring will never come… reminded me of a card I received from a former colleague, a number of years ago… came across it when I was working on the shelves in the hall… it mentioned that spring always comes…

trying to hold onto that… need to get some more flowers I think… they often help…

these crocuses have all died off now…

first thing got a great shot of the moon with a star or planet off to the side…

lovely view to start the day… and it is lighter in the morning…

not sure if it is let down following the Olympics or just too much extreme cold over this winter but nearly everyone I talk with is exhausted…

people are walking around yawning or their brains don’t seem to be working up-to-par…

thank goodness for the flowers at work and home…

every time I see the crocus and hyacinth they appear to be growing right in front of my eyes… and they make me happy…

the hyacinth is starting to smell so nice…

this morning I vacillated between bringing either the crocus or hyacinth to the office so that I could have some flowers and spring-ness…

but I decided not to bother today as it was so cold…

on my way to work I spent a few minutes enjoying the beautiful quarter moon in the sky…

mid-morning the Lung Association dropped off tulips which we had ordered…

I chose some off white and pink ones…

how serendipitous…

for the rest of the day I had the beauty of flowers right at my desk and when I got home the crocuses were opening up…

flowers make me so happy…

was out doing errands late this afternoon, after spending the majority of the day watching the Olympics…

had the hot tub water checked and it is doing great… yay…

at Safeway came across hyacinth and crocus in little pots… couldn’t help myself, had to bring them home…

they even smell a little spring-y…

amazing what a little fresh growth makes to my spirits…

this morning I took out the garbage and recycling… wasn’t sure if I would be able to get them out to the back lane because the pond guys had over seeded a good portion of the area and I didn’t want to drive the bins through the dirt, or soil as my mom would say…

then I discover that it has rained/snowed overnight and the lids are frozen shut… took quite an effort to get them open…

once I got back inside I took a few pictures of the cactus as it was blooming… very interesting because it looks very miserable… can’t decide if it is over- or under- watered…

nice to start the day enjoying a few moments with flowers…
