last night we watched Blended before falling asleep in our beds… we woke at various times this morning but finally everyone got up about 9:30 am…

went down and had an excellent breakfast before everyone, except me, headed to the pool… a friend arrived and they had great fun…

waterslide was very fast...

eventually everyone returned to the room, got dressed and we headed off to Thunder Rapids, stopping for a quick bite in the car on the way…

we did everything… there was go-carting, a few times…

we saw frogs, although I didn’t get any pictures… freezies and time at the playground followed by a last round of go-carting in bigger and faster cars…

the biggest three in the fast cars...

finally home, where we ordered Chinese food for dinner and after we cleaned up everyone headed to their own place…

thanks to my pond guy, the garden sounds right as the waterfall is running again…

my waterfall running again...

aquasize, blessed, bunny, market, moth, peas, tofu, treats

lovely treats today…

over the noon hour went to the Farmers’ Market located downtown with a colleague and enjoyed our time together… and all the great produce we found…

I picked up baby potatoes, dill, yellow and green beans, baby cucumbers, some fun breads, bison meat and peas… I was so happy about the peas because I was thinking they might already be finished… I love peas…

last thing was a bouquet of yellow lilies which I picked up for my daughter…

20140731-234254-85374172.jpgon my way home stopped in at my daughter’s new office with the flowers and some peas for her family…

was picked up by my friend and we went to aquasize which was another treat…

went out for supper and another friend who I haven’t seen for ages met us there…

20140731-234547-85547512.jpgtasted a tofu dish that was delicious, lol… who knew…

as we were getting into the car spotted a cute little bunny… then home for tea and a visit…

20140731-234909-85749258.jpghuge and delicate looking moth in the concrete jungle…

treats all day long… my life is filled with blessings…

big girl pants, garden, pond, String Algae Buster, surprised, waterlily

this morning it was beautiful and I couldn’t leave the garden without a wander around… noticed how the babies are growing… could see at least three different sizes…

found these lovely flowers in the purple begonia basket…

20140730-212950-77390777.jpgthey were a lovely surprise because I wasn’t expecting flowers on that plant…

tonight when I arrived at home the plants all needed a drink so I wandered around and gave each one a soaking…

as I was standing by the pond I looked down and saw more new babies… about the length of my little fingernail…

another great surprise was that the water lily that over wintered in the pond has put out some leaves…

unfortunately the water isn’t running yet as I wait to hear from a couple of people about how to clean out the pump which is under rocks… think it is clogged with string algae… now I am looking for String Algae Buster in Canada…

big girl pants, bits and pieces, buds, electronics, Fargo, goldfinches, Grand Forks, hibiscus, tri-colour

discovered a few pictures on my phone that I wanted to share from our weekend in Fargo and Grand Forks…

this one shows the boys at a charging station in Starbucks… we were taking a break with a variety of beverages and resting our feet… phones and tablets were plugged in for a brief time so that no one would end up with a dead piece of electronics…

20140728-230740-83260217.jpgthen we moved on to a final bit of shopping… even the little boys were getting tired…

20140728-230859-83339575.jpgtonight I got a couple of excellent shots of the hibiscus… today it has two red blooms and two yellow ones…

20140728-231118-83478622.jpgthis one looks nice against the purple door…

20140728-231219-83539436.jpgI am wondering if the plant puts out more blossoms when it is stressed, because every time I look at it, seems it is in need of water… but there are numerous buds ready to open…

20140728-231436-83676515.jpg

and tonight I saw two boy goldfinches at the feeder… yay…

Grand Forks, home, on the road, sky, sunset, treasures, wind mills

finally home after a busy and fun weekend with the kids in the States…

we got up around nine this morning and after breakfast went for the last visit to the water park… it is lovely to watch how the boys spend time together as well as separately in the water…

final fun in the water park...

final fun in the water park…

then we packed up all of our stuff and headed to Grand Forks… visited three or four stores… had tacos for lunch and a very lovely dinner at a great steak house the kids had been to before… final few items picked up, and we were on the road home…

the sky was lovely…

clouds on our drive home...

the final purchase had been a few movies for the trip home…

"watching" a movie...

“watching” a movie…

happily we breezed through the border and drove past the wind mills (turbines) as the sun was setting… sadly the car windows were covered in bugs again, but I was able to get a few good shots…

sunset at the wind mills...

kids dropped me off and I brought in all my goodies…

too late for a hot tub… I am going to bed!

baby's breath, begonia, hibiscus, pond, wander, waterfall

spent a little time wandering in the garden tonight…

the hibiscus was quite lovely…

20140722-211215-76335625.jpgstill waiting to see if the baby’s breath is going to smell – like urine…

20140722-211345-76425652.jpgcan’t decide about the pink flowers… but I do have a friend who will take them if they don’t make the cut…

20140722-211643-76603053.jpgthe basket with the begonias in it continues to look amazing…

20140722-211751-76671851.jpgI turned the waterfall off as it was barely going… waiting to hear from the pond people about what I should be doing…

might have my son-in-law come and dig the pump out of the rocks and see if it is obstructed… don’t think our cheap sump pump ever got plugged up, lol…

going to get up early tomorrow and water everything before heading to work…

Angel's Trumpet, Assiniboine Park, datura, delphiniums, English Garden, evening, Leo Mol, nature, orange sky, water lilies

rushed home to meet young friends who were wanting to borrow a prop for a birthday party…

they left and my friend arrived to pick me up to go for a walk at the Park… as we left home it had just stopped spitting… we had a lovely walk through the English Garden and around the Duck Pond…

the delphiniums were stunning in purple and blue,

delphiniums in main garden...

lovely water lilies in the Leo Mol garden although all the ponds were filled with algae… not so pretty for us but likely make the ducks and geese happy…

water lilies in Leo Mol garden...

and a wonderful rose in the main garden… think this was my best shot…

rose with rain drop...

the datura were also quite amazing… in our zone, these are annuals… the gardeners lift them up in the fall, overwinter them in the greenhouses, and then put them out again the next year…

datura, also known as Angel's Trumpet...

we arrived back at the car just as the rain began…

then we went to my friend’s place for a lovely tenderloin dinner with rice, Asian vegetables, tomato and cucumber salad with peach pie and shortbread cookies for dessert… what a lovely treat…

home to watch a few shows and then as I was heading to the computer to write my blog post I looked out at the sky, found my camera and went to the front door…

the sky was orange… the colour in this picture is the exact shade…

big girl pants, blue jay, dragonfly, hot tub, hungry, kids, nature, pond, Slurpees, squirrels

another beautiful morning in the garden…

watched two squirrels snacking
under the bird feeder while I had an early morning hot tub… the bluejays were at the feeder and there is obviously a baby in their family who was located in one of the cedars, and he was very hungry from the sound of things…

20140720-194243-70963816.jpgfinished the book and watched squirrels drink and a bluejay bath in the pond…

20140720-194400-71040891.jpgcan’t figure out who is knocking over the plant in the pond… maybe a squirrel…

a dragonfly stopped by… quite red… got a good shot of it with one of the fish swimming over…

20140720-200720-72440681.jpgmade supper for the kids and had a nice visit with them… a beef roast with baked potatoes, cucumber in sour cream, salad and zucchini, mushrooms and fresh peas… they brought Slurpees, which was great as it was hot… even now it feels like 33.2…

barbecue, beloved, big girl pants, dragonfly, garden, goldfish, nature

spent a good portion of the day in the garden…

20140719-200950-72590820.jpgit was lovely and not too hot… another batch of plants are blooming… they could be the same as the purple ones, only smaller… dark pink/red, not sure how I feel about the colour…

first thing this morning a dragonfly landed on the screen and posed for a few pictures…

20140719-201526-72926223.jpgmoved my chair so I was sitting right beside the pond… saw lots of babies… white and red, white and black, and gold ones, which look black in the pond… sadly I’m having issues with algae, not sure the fancy uv filter is doing its job… frustrating because putting it in caused the waterfall flow to be less powerful…

did a bit of weeding and had a lovely nap…

read most of a paper book and also put on my big girl pants and barbecued steak and zucchini, with potatoes, onions and mushrooms…

20140719-202300-73380961.jpgrestful day, but missing my beloved…

Assiniboine Park Zoo, butterflies, Hudson, Journey to Churchill, polar bear, Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden, water, wild things

Journey to Churchill… the newest addition to the Assiniboine Park Zoo… it opened on July 3rd, but I haven’t had an opportunity to get there, particularly as it has been very busy on the weekends…

the last time I was there was in May and there was still lots of work to be done… the worst thing was the paths as they were filled with potholes and water… we had been going through a very rainy time… the other thing that has been a pain for over a year is that you had to walk all the way around on one side and then retrace your steps and go all the way around the other side… both of those issues have been resolved… the path is great – level and easy to walk on… and, at last, you can walk all the way around the zoo, woo hoo…

it is stunning…

muskox through the rocks...

muskox through the rocks…

the polar bear area is wonderful… there are lots of glass water viewing spots…

great viewing spots...

great viewing spots…

a few places to sit and watch for a while, and a wonderful tunnel under the water where you can see the bears swimming, and see all the way to the sky…

glass tunnel...

we found the seals swimming in a lovely spot where they were very easy to view…

seals cavorting...

the vistas into the space make you feel like you could step right into the beautiful setting…

vistas...

sadly, the early afternoon is often when the bears are napping, but we did get to see Hudson…

Hudson...

Hudson…

he was napping, but right by an open spot where he could see people… there were two interpreters there as well, answering questions… Kaska and Aurora, the two females, and Storm the other male, weren’t around…

great picture of one of the inukshuk’s with some of the group… a bit bigger than the one in my garden, lol…

little break at an inukshuk

we checked out other animals and finished up at the Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden…

resting butterfly...

resting butterfly, maybe a viceroy…

we got a group photo just before heading our separate ways…

wild things...

a wonderFULL time… I am looking forward to going back very soon to see it all again…
