had a rather hectic day…

in amongst all the activity these beautiful flowers arrived…

they were a surprise from my colleague, who is admiring them in the picture…

I love flowers and have been missing them the last few weeks… George always made sure I had live flowers during January and February to help make the winter easier… so far I haven’t been able to pick any up as it has been too cold to have them in the car… he would warm the car up and then pop the flowers in and rush home, lol…

on our way out of the office I had to stop and take a picture of the gorgeous sky…

it was still light at 5:03… that is very exciting…

made dinner, had a nap and then walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes…

figuring out snacks isn’t always easy these days…

seems like thinking and planning meals and snacks takes up a lot more of my time…

have to be sure I have fresh vegetables and appropriate meat…

every morning I have to sort out, and then eat breakfast…

next I have to figure out what I will take for lunch and a possible snack at the office…

finally I need to get something out for supper…

seems like a lot to do first thing in the morning…

this morning I forgot to take the meat out of the freezer…

cheese and celery or almonds are often snacks at the office…

tonight I made popcorn… figured out how to make it in the microwave in a Tupperware measuring cup that has a lid… a bit of oil and salt and voila:-)…

this afternoon I had my six month check up at CancerCare…

had an hour wait as they were behind…

I always think about the people they are seeing… someone just finding out they have cancer… maybe they are facing a long period of treatment or maybe even being told they have a very short time to live…

all I was having was a check up… not really that big a deal to wait a while…

happily my appointment went well and I don’t have to go back for another six months… I’m one of the lucky ones…

my daughter was able to come with me and I really appreciate having the support…

last week I saw my GP… she was happy with my progress and my blood sugar numbers… happy that eating and exercising are helping keep my numbers down…

today technology and I were not so friendly…

the laptop wasn’t working…

couldn’t access a software program for my blood sugar meter…

purchased a digital picture frame and it didn’t want to work…

tried to pick up a battery for the camera remote control, but, of course, they were on back order… hopefully the shop across from the office will have the appropriate one and I can get this done tomorrow…

but… after supper everyone was playing on some piece of technology, lol…

and then tonight I discovered that there was no fish food… the container that I thought was full was empty…

apparently I will be stopping on my way home tomorrow to pick some up… bad fish mother…

a nice warm day today…

before it was even light, I went out for a hot tub… lovely and quiet, although I had to wear a toque and a baseball cap because snow was coming down… didn’t see or hear one bird the whole time I was out…

loving my new Turkish towels…

warm and light and very absorbent…

when I went out to put the chemicals in the hot tub, I didn’t need so much as a sweater and listened to the dripping as the ice was melting… hopefully everything doesn’t ice over…

did a few chores around the house and forced myself to walk on the treadmill as I spent a good part of the day struggling with a stomach ache… it is finally gone…

and I walked for 35 minutes, yay…

this morning as I was waiting for my ride I topped up the water in the fish tank… it’s been low for a week or so and every time I am leaving the house I remember that it needs water…

when it is low, the running water is very loud…

took a number of trips back and forth to the sink but other than the one time I poured the water all over myself and the floor there were no issues… got it all done in time…

the fish like it when it’s full too… they are good company for me… next will be giving the front of the tank a cleaning… algae is starting to take over, lol…

been a very long week…

had a lovely treat tonight when I got to have dinner with my grandson after he came over and shovelled the driveway…

we ordered beef bones, baked potatoes and Caesar salad from Tony Roma’s… I just love Mobile Maitre D and Skip the Dishes… by the time I get home I do not want to go out again to fetch dinner so these are great ways to get the food I want delivered to the house… picking up our dinner was George’s job…

I was also happy to see the lights shining through the snow… they are solar so the sun must be getting stronger…

a few days ago the lights were still shining in the morning…

just thinking about it makes me happy…

saw the bunny running in the front street this morning… so cute… I do love seeing them…

been using my SAD light in the mornings on weekdays… think it has made a difference, but really, there is nothing like daylight and sunshine…

tomorrow is my soup day…

seemed to have trouble deciding what to make… been thinking about it for at least a week and didn’t make a final decision until today…

had everything at home so didn’t have to run out to the store which was great because we’ve had a bit of snow and my shoveler hasn’t made it over just yet…

had a good time preparing… cooked up carrots, celery, onion and garlic… first time I’ve used this new purple pot, lol…

just finished using my purple immersion blender to complete it… once it cools down it will go into the fridge and be ready for tomorrow’s lunch…

had a conversation recently about someone who had lost their partner a few months ago…

brought back all kinds of memories…

thought about the requirements that had to be sorted out… the documents I had to complete… the money grabs that seemed to be part of the process… the feeling of drowning in paperwork and worry…

for the last few months I’ve been thinking about getting the house in order… getting rid of stuff that I don’t want or need… I want to make it as easy as possible for my girls when the time comes for them to deal with my stuff…

I sure do miss my beloved…

had a wonderful evening with my ReImagining group…

so excited when I got home…

my son-in-law had gone and picked up my new treadmill, brought it home and set it up in the basement for me…

spent the next fifteen minutes walking on it in my bare feet to test it out…

the house phone sits on it very nicely and my cell phone, tablet and Kobo are all going to fit well also…

looking forward to reading up on it and giving it a good test walk tomorrow, lol…
