I use my immersion blender all the time, particularly when I make smoothies… I have had it for a very long time…
I’ve noticed recently that the blades seem dull and when it finishes, there are still bits of whatever is being blended left…
a few years ago I purchased a new immersion blender, because the old one was making rather odd noises… but it continued working so I put the new one on the shelf…
recently, I dug it out of its box and the cute measuring cup that came with it…
then, sadly, I disposed of the old one…
now I have to see how well I like the way it works🤔…
last evening, after supper, my housemate and I went to Dairy Queen, and he treated😊…
sadly, they were out of skor bits so I wasn’t able to get my favourite skor blizzard…
instead I chose a turtle blizzard… bit of a mistake, lol…
I enjoyed the pecans, and the ice cream but the little chocolate half circles (with caramel in them) were just not the least reminiscent of a turtle;-)…
of course I did eat half of it then and finished the second half after supper tonight…
was out for a hot tub a few nights ago… I had twisted my knee, woke up around 2, and went out to soak in the heat…
as I was preparing to slowly and carefully step out of the tub, I looked over and watched a chubby skunk toddle about two feet from me, on its way to the back lane…
using this old picture, I was kitty corner from where I am in this photo… the skunk came through the gate and was just a foot away from the bottom step when I saw it👀…
reminded me of an encounter with another skunk in August of 2015:
after supper last night at the campsite, all the boys and dogs went for a walk to the beach to catch frogs…
it was dark and nearly eleven when a skunk came to visit we three women as we sat around the campfire…
one ran into the tent, another climbed on top of the picnic table… I sat in my chair as the skunk came and sniffed my toes before moseying along to the next site…
was going to take a picture but decided not to in case it got nervous and sprayed, lol…
took four of my most used knives in to be sharpened… and was advised they weren’t really worth sharpening…
made me sad as two of them were wearever knives that were my mom and dad’s… which did make them likely sixty or seventy years old…
so, then I bought some new ones… had fun with the salesperson who had lots of questions and made me hold many knives…
lucky for me, they were all reasonably priced, unlike those that my housemate has… the staff were drooling over his collection, which they had just sharpened and were the reason we were there, lol…
I ordered a new pair of shoes from Vessi as I have really enjoyed the ones I ordered previously and wore all winter… and, they only took ten days to arrive;-)…
these ones are flats, and, of course, waterproof…
they fit a tiny bit snug, but I think they will stretch… my plan is to wear them in the house and garden for a while to break them in…
I think they will look good with my new outfits;-)…
the hot tub was emptied a few weeks ago and we’ve been waiting for a friend to look at the broken side of the lid to see if there is a way to fix it… they weren’t available so my housemate decided to see what he could do…
we finally got around to moving it away from the wall and looking to see what might work to repair it…
many screws have been removed, and we now know what the issue was regarding the right side lid…
all new screws and bolts were purchased and a new backing inside the body of the tub was installed on both sides to make the opening and closing mechanism stronger…
it took quite some time to get it sorted and then replace all the rusted screws that hold the eight panels around the tub…
while it was out and empty, a tiny portion of the deck that it sits up against was sawn off, which made a huge difference when the tub was back in place… now the side that rubbed against the gate opens easily…
next, the tub was filled and the pump turned back on… it will be another day or so before the temperature is back to normal…
the lid works properly… I am so happy;-)…
started with a new set of chemicals and looking forward to my first hot tub…
since our new bbq – Glowy – arrived in April, we (my housemate!) have been barbecuing much more often…
recently we had hamburgers which were delicious… I’ve gotten a bit more lazy and have been buying premade patties, but they are much tastier than previous versions…
this bbq has extra btu, so it is easy to get good heat for searing and lovely grill marks;-)…
we’ve also done chicken, steak, lobster, sausage, and lamb, as well as zucchini, potatoes, and onions…
we’ve been looking into air conditioner splits, as well as a new air conditioner for a while now…
the current air conditioner hasn’t worked for at least three years, and maybe even five… I can’t remember…
when I had someone in to look at it, they said it was leaking freon and couldn’t be repaired… it has sometimes been very hot upstairs but I managed with a tower fan…
last year I’d been quoted around $5,000 to replace it and that just seemed too much, particularly as the cold air never really made it upstairs, lol…
we had an HVAC person in the other day and the splits just weren’t going to work here… before moving forward with a new air conditioner, they suggested trying to get the old one working… they came back on Saturday to see if they could get the old one going…
they were here for a couple of hours and got it working😁😆😄…
the problem was the virginia creeper which had wound its way around the motor… I guess the other company was just wanting me to purchase a new air conditioner…
it is recording 13 something and the optimum is 20, so that sounds quite wonderful to me…
