usually, when I wake up I put on the TV and watch/listen to the morning news on Breakfast Television… this morning it wouldn’t turn on… this is serious… called my son-in-law who suggested I might have napped on top of the remote and pushed a button I shouldn’t have… so changing the batteries didn’t really need to happen, lol… not too sure when I will understand the silly remote… good news is the TV is working fine now…

sadly the crocuses are finished blooming, but there is more light every morning although the weather is still in the deep freeze…

spent some time tonight with my ReImagining friends enjoying a great dinner and interesting program…

yesterday went to IKEA with Crystal and her friend Sabrina… although it was cold outside, the place was packed… I like to go but always have tired feet by the time we get out…

picked up some boxes to use on the bookshelf in the hallway… and some picture frames, but I haven’t got to that project just yet…

today I put most of the boxes together and filled some with various bits and pieces that had been on the shelves… there were a lot of photo albums and individual pictures…

the last two were put together tonight by my grandson…

in between watching the Oscars I continued working…

and am nearly done… just have the bits on the floor to deal with… plus a few books which were moved into the computer room during the repair and painting…

it is starting to look good… much more spacious, tidy and has treasures in and amongst the books… very happy with the progress…

there must be 6 or 8 boxes packed up and ready to go to their new homes…

had just got back into the bedroom when Bette Midler sang You Are The Wind Beneath My Wings… made me think of George and how he supported me in everything I ever did…

I miss him…

what a beautiful day…

sun was shining and the snow in the backyard was glittering like diamonds…

when I walked across the kitchen floor, it was cold right up to the sink… about half way into the room from the patio doors… when it’s really cold the floor is cold about a third of the way into the room… bit of a sign, lol…

gorgeous out but really, really cold… just checked the temperature a little while ago…

spent a bit of time in the kitchen because I’ve been working on a project with a deadline and have done nothing anywhere in the house… so, the kitchen was rather a disaster…

finally finished the project, so tomorrow I will spend some time catching up on chores…

today was garbage and recycling day…

I’ve come to the place where I don’t put out the bins every week… partly because I don’t usually have that much garbage or recycling in one week, but also because it is difficult to get the bins into the back lane with all this snow…

my neighbour snow blows along his garage which is where three of us put our bins… my son-in-law also makes sure it is cleared out when he is over…

I leave the recycling on my side of the lane right in front of the gate so it makes it difficult to get in and out…

often when the kids are over, my grandson brings the bins in for me…

recently I put up a mirror and have been cleaning the bookshelves in the hall…

these are all little jobs that I never had to deal with… I’d come up with something that needed to be done and my beloved would make it happen… I miss that…

I also finally found some hooks that don’t have to be nailed or screwed in… finally got them hung up on the weekend and now can hang my towels on my new purple door…

so, this morning I got up a bit early, packed up my soup for Souper Thursday at work and headed downtown…

my pea soup came out quite well, although a little on the runny side… usually it is so thick that I need to water it down…

dropped it off at the office and walked over to the dentist office for the filling that I needed… think the last one I had was in 2010 and likely about five years before that…

it was minus 33 without any wind chill but the walk over wasn’t too bad as I had put on long underwear…

although my dentist is wonderful I still stress before and during the process… I have this fabulous gag reflex which doesn’t help matters at all… got there before the door was even open…

today she was great and took lots of breaks in the process to be sure I was comfortable… too funny, because I am never comfortable at the dentist office…

if you live in Winnipeg and have any nervousness about seeing the dentist you should contact her office… she is exceptional with chickens, lol…

hopefully I won’t be needing any fillings for a long time… particularly as the new insurance plan doesn’t cover any dental…

good thing it is me and not George… he had two or three fillings in every tooth and also had lots of extractions…

well, after weeks of waiting and comparisons I think I have a plan for my health insurance…

when my beloved left me, RONA provided me with two years of survivor benefits and they run out next Thursday…

I didn’t realize what a complicated process it was to get insurance…

for a while it looked as though I was going to have to wait for three months once I got the insurance…

I was also worried as to whether I would qualify if I had to go through a medical… although I am cancer free it was worrisome if having had uterine cancer would disqualify me from insurance…

I also had no idea about the cost… after speaking with the Sun Life people, where the RONA plan was, I discovered that it would cost me $200 a month for similar benefits to those I’ve had over these last two years… thanks RONA, for those benefits…

eventually I found a broker who was able to find a roll-over program which will cost about $117 a month… no more dental coverage, but medical/pharmaceutical which is more important…

good news, it will take effect next week and there isn’t a waiting period… AND there is no medical required…

those big girl pants have been well used recently…

first thing got a great shot of the moon with a star or planet off to the side…

lovely view to start the day… and it is lighter in the morning…

not sure if it is let down following the Olympics or just too much extreme cold over this winter but nearly everyone I talk with is exhausted…

people are walking around yawning or their brains don’t seem to be working up-to-par…

thank goodness for the flowers at work and home…

every time I see the crocus and hyacinth they appear to be growing right in front of my eyes… and they make me happy…

the hyacinth is starting to smell so nice…

this morning I vacillated between bringing either the crocus or hyacinth to the office so that I could have some flowers and spring-ness…

but I decided not to bother today as it was so cold…

on my way to work I spent a few minutes enjoying the beautiful quarter moon in the sky…

mid-morning the Lung Association dropped off tulips which we had ordered…

I chose some off white and pink ones…

how serendipitous…

for the rest of the day I had the beauty of flowers right at my desk and when I got home the crocuses were opening up…

flowers make me so happy…

lovely day…

sun shone and the wind blew… watched the last of the Olympics and organized supper… finally Jeff and I got our ham fix…

after dinner my youngest grandson and I sat on the couch and watched the beautiful sky…

we saw blue and pink and purple and gray and at one point even some green…

then we looked at pictures from our trip to Mexico and read an abc book where he pointed out the letters that make up his name and finger-drew them for me…

was out doing errands late this afternoon, after spending the majority of the day watching the Olympics…

had the hot tub water checked and it is doing great… yay…

at Safeway came across hyacinth and crocus in little pots… couldn’t help myself, had to bring them home…

they even smell a little spring-y…

amazing what a little fresh growth makes to my spirits…
