there are still lots of things to plant in the garden but I didn’t get anything done tonight…

on my way to the car this morning I realized the water in the pond was very low, I spent about five minutes filling it… that amount of time didn’t add very much water…

was worried that the fish might get in trouble if it got much lower…

tonight I am sitting here as it fills up, enjoying the beautiful evening… birds are singing and the sound of the water is soothing…

we think it is leaking again due to something happening when the uv filter went in…

my pond guy is planning to stop by Thursday or Friday to sort out the problem…

I have noticed that when it rains the pond doesn’t get all murky like it was in the fall so I think the swale they built fixed that problem which is wonderful…

I think I am taking on some of George’s characteristics because now when I walk through an area in the garden I find myself pulling weeds as I go and then going back to pick them up off the ground later, lol… I kept trying to get him to carry a small pail so he didn’t have to retrace his steps…

what a serene and peaceful place I inhabit…

the uv filter is in, almost…

but I can’t turn the waterfall on until tomorrow night to be sure the glue has time to dry…

very quiet out there, lol… spent an hour reading on the deck and listening to birds and squirrels…

very excited that two of the hydrangeas I moved at the end of last year are both sprouting leaves…

looking forward to many hours in the garden…

what a beautiful day…

spent it outside… the new cushions are very comfy, but I still have to figure out what to do with the stools…

spent some time reading and some time working in the garden…

I work in short spurts and then rest a bit and then work a bit more…

it always amazes me how grass can get into the flower beds so easily…

the pond guy came by and we both think that the leak is fixed… he will come and cover up some of the liner that is showing and glue down a loose stone sometime this week…

hoping to move the fish from their condo to their summer home in the next few days…

there are brown bits everywhere as the buds open on the trees…

enjoyed every minute…

woke up to a skiff of snow on the bench that circles the deck… it is May 14 people!

it was still cool when I got home from work, but I took the time to finish filling the pond…

was running in and out to be sure it didn’t overflow because it was too cold to stand out there…

in between the running out I made pasta with the leftover crab and asparagus from Sunday’s dinner… it was delicious…

been thinking of George a lot lately… he would have been out in the garden and the garage puttering and getting things ready for spending time outside… I just need someone to come and do some of that work, lol…

when I was working in the garden on the weekend I was thinking I needed to call the pond people about coming to put the pump in and see if the leak is fixed…

been really busy so hadn’t gotten around to it, but as I was heading out this morning I thought about it again…

was very happy to get a call from one of the pond guys to say he was going to come tomorrow and could I put the pump out for him…

this is hopefully the last picture of the pond without the waterfall running…

maybe spring is really here, lol…

last night I got dropped off at the end of the street and walked the rest of the way… it was gorgeous and I was happy to spend a few minutes in the fresh air…

was thinking about the bunnies that I have been seeing lately and looked up to see one sitting in the road, right in front of the house…

I think they are very cute and enjoy having them on the street and in the garden… apparently I don’t plant anything that they think is yummy so I haven’t felt any desire to get rid of them…

I do have friends though who have a big problem with bunnies eating their vegetables and flowers…

but, for now, I just think they are cute…

as the light left the sky I stood still and watched the little fellow as it watched me… finally a car came down the street and away went the bunny…

spent some time in the garden today…

weather was very nice… it was warm, but there was a lovely breeze which kept it cool…

cleaned out the planters around the deck and watered the remaining baskets…

then emptied and refilled the hot tub…

I think the Snow Birds flew out of the city, because there were three batches of jets that left in twos and threes, making a lot of racket… by the time I had my camera out the third batch were leaving and they weren’t visible… they were the red and white of the Snow Birds but I hadn’t heard that any events were on in the area…

while I was making my dinner, a great gaggle of geese flew over and again I didn’t have time to get the camera and take a picture…

i have been hearing the geese daily for the last while as they head out to the fields for their last feeds before heading south…

just realized that last year at this time I was on my last few days of sick leave, following my surgery, before getting back to work…

I spent the majority of the summer in the back yard recuperating… what a difference a year makes…

got a few pics on my way to the garage this morning… the morning glories are really enjoying this cooler weather and I am enjoying them… they really are one of my favourites…

there were a number of blooms when I left…

love the two-tone quality of this one…

even four or five when I got home, which is unusual, as they are normally done by about noon… today was quite overcast and cool so that must have encouraged them to bloom longer…

couldn’t decide if the lighter coloured one was opening or closing…

the weather people are forecasting frost tonight… I hope they are wrong… but it does encourage me to get out into the garden and do some cleaning up…

being sure to take a moment whenever I go by them to enjoy their beauty as soon they won’t be blooming :-)…

yesterday I took a picture of the sunflower in the front garden starting to open…

sunflower just starting to open through the window…

I didn’t plant it there, but apparently I haven’t done any weeding for a while and all of a sudden there it was big and bold in the garden… couldn’t pull it out after that…
