big girl pants, cold, Fall, hibiscus, lingering, morning glory
this is a strange cold… coughing comes and goes… my head feels like cotton and at night I feel like I still have my headset on… some days it seems like I’m improving and then it rears its cold head… lingered long enough…
forgot to turn my alarm on last night so I woke up half an hour late… still had to stop and check for morning glories, lol…
yesterday there were five blossoms, today just this one…
at the end of the day this hibiscus was smiling at me…
had the windows down and the moon roof open and enjoyed the 28 degree temperature… first day of Fall…

yesterday I spent some glorious time with two little persons, had to retake one of the photos today because one didn’t turn out, lol…
got to spend time holding each of them while they had a lovely nap… we had a wonderful lunch and then everyone went home and I had a nap…
snuggling babies can be exhausting…
this morning I got a few good shots of raindrops on the hibiscus…

this morning I woke in my own bed… it was lovely… the bed I was in over the last week was fine, but there is something about being in your own…
last night I thought about having a hot tub but could hear the police helicopter flying over in circles… usually that means they are searching for someone so I don’t like to sit out there, lol… and I was rather tired…
this morning I went out for one… sigh… I do love my hot tub and miss it when I am away from home…
relaxed for the remainder of the day although I did wander through the garden a few times…
brought in two hydrangea flowers and put them in a vase…

this morning it was misting outside but I had to take pictures of the morning glories…
whenever I look at them I remember how George would bring me pictures and tell me how many were blooming as I spent weeks in the hospital a few years back…
the pond is nearly overflowing…
we’ve had two huge rains this week and rather than being low on water, it is bursting its seams…
before I left home I had to move and dump the barrel liner… It was full again this morning… certainly a good workout to pull it across the driveway and then tip it over…
this beautiful and large hibiscus greeted me when I arrived home…
one of the biggest blossoms so far on this tree…
a great beginning to my two weeks of vacation…

birds, fourteen, garden, grandson, hibiscus, potato salad, spinach dip
started the day in the garden… two blossoms on the hibiscus and you can see what a beautiful morning it was…
the sounds in the garden were lovely, there were chickadees and goldfinches at the feeder, while the water was falling in the pond…
shortly after that, the nail guns took over as my neighbour was having his roof shingled, lol… caught one of the chickadees, which is difficult as they are very fast…
spent a good portion of the day getting the required groceries and making spinach dip and five pounds of potato salad for the big birthday party… mom loves the spinach dip, and dad the potato salad…
our oldest grandson turned fourteen… cannot believe that fourteen years have passed since he arrived in our lives… he is a lovely young man and George and I both enjoyed watching him as he has grown… George would be very proud… I know I am…

big girl pants, bits and pieces, buds, electronics, Fargo, goldfinches, Grand Forks, hibiscus, tri-colour
discovered a few pictures on my phone that I wanted to share from our weekend in Fargo and Grand Forks…
this one shows the boys at a charging station in Starbucks… we were taking a break with a variety of beverages and resting our feet… phones and tablets were plugged in for a brief time so that no one would end up with a dead piece of electronics…
then we moved on to a final bit of shopping… even the little boys were getting tired…
tonight I got a couple of excellent shots of the hibiscus… today it has two red blooms and two yellow ones…
this one looks nice against the purple door…
I am wondering if the plant puts out more blossoms when it is stressed, because every time I look at it, seems it is in need of water… but there are numerous buds ready to open…
and tonight I saw two boy goldfinches at the feeder… yay…

spent a little time wandering in the garden tonight…
the hibiscus was quite lovely…
still waiting to see if the baby’s breath is going to smell – like urine…
can’t decide about the pink flowers… but I do have a friend who will take them if they don’t make the cut…
the basket with the begonias in it continues to look amazing…
I turned the waterfall off as it was barely going… waiting to hear from the pond people about what I should be doing…
might have my son-in-law come and dig the pump out of the rocks and see if it is obstructed… don’t think our cheap sump pump ever got plugged up, lol…
going to get up early tomorrow and water everything before heading to work…

hibiscus, IKEA, kitchen, lobster, Red Lobster, shopping, slushy drink
went shopping at IKEA after work with Crystal and Jeff, to order their kitchen… it was very exciting… couldn’t believe how many people were there on a Tuesday night, but kitchens went on sale yesterday so there was a crowd…
to top it off, they paid with cash, which kind of shocked the young woman at the register… I do wonder how long it is going to be before places won’t accept cash… she had to call a supervisor to double count the money… after all that, she forgot to make change, lol… luckily Jeff remembered before we left…
then, to celebrate, we went out for dinner at Red Lobster…
had very nice slushy drinks, those amazing biscuits, and lobster… saved just enough to have for lunch tomorrow…
it was wonderful to have time together, without the little people…
when they dropped me off, I went out and got a few pictures of the hibiscus…

tonight, on my way home, the sky had some frightening looking clouds…
was finally able to get a picture part way home, although by then they weren’t quite as horrible looking… this was about 4:20…
made it in the door about three minutes before the torrential rain began… only lasted for a few minutes..
hard to see it coming down but the pavement was completely wet in a very short time…
it is beautiful now…
forgot that the hibiscus is a tri-colour… the last flowers were reddish orange… the next bloom looks like it is going to be yellow…
