when I woke up this morning I heard scraping outside… couldn’t figure out what it was… once I know what the sound is, I can ignore it, but when I can’t figure it out it makes me a bit crazy…
looked out the window and saw this…

pretty isn’t it… fresh snow always looks wonderful… particularly if you don’t have to go out…
once I got downstairs I checked out the hibiscus which has three flowers and lots of buds…

I did go out to the grocery store and the pet store… the driving was fine…
tonight Jeff changed the filters and hopefully the water will clear up…

I think the hibiscus is in just the right place in the living room… must be getting the correct dose of sunlight…

there were at least thirteen buds this morning… looks amazing considering it probably only has twenty or thirty leaves on it…
this picture was taken when I arrived home and the sun was shining in and making some beautiful shadows…
got upstairs and took this picture of the sun going down…
enjoyed a very short walk getting home… crisp but lovely…
a great day filled with sunshine… haven’t had a lot of it lately so really appreciated it… happy to be able to take the time to enjoy the moment…

woke up to snow on the ground this morning…
when I went downstairs a red hibiscus was in full bloom and I could see the snow on the ground… reminded me of a poppy…
spent a good portion of the morning watching the Remembrance Day service from Ottawa…
remembering my mother and father and George’s father and their service to our country… neither my father or George’s ever talked about what they did…
my mom’s work involved removing or adjusting pictures of ships so that when they were published in newspapers anywhere in the world they wouldn’t be recognizable as a certain ship… she was heavily involved in having this statue designed and raised at the Legislative grounds… this picture was one I downloaded from the internet, and there was no information about who took it…
had a quiet day thinking of them and also George… his dad died just a few days before Remembrance Day which made the day very special for both of us…

went to the dentist a little over a week ago… for a filling… can’t remember the last time I’ve had a filling, sigh…
it went very well and I was rather proud of my calm throughout the whole procedure…
she froze the top right side of my mouth where she was working… seemed to recover fine…
a day or so later, my lips felt very dry and I was wondering if I wasn’t drinking enough water… after a few days I was even using some balm to try to make my lips feel better…
a day or so after that I got a big pimple under my nose… it really hurt… then three or four more erupted along the right topside of my lip all the way to the crease of my lips…
I was wondering if I’d eaten too many leftover Halloween chocolates, but didn’t think I had…
yesterday it occurred to me that this all might be a reaction to the freezing…
I have reached the point that I don’t use any drugs because my body reacts so poorly… when I had my hernia/hysterectomy I stopped taking the drugs within a very short period as they were making me feel terrible… dealing with pain was better than being so sick… I know the pain will eventually go away…
today there is still one very angry looking spot, but I think the others are starting to subside…

this morning I took a picture of my buddies having breakfast…

still figuring out exactly how much to feed them…
must say I am happy to have them as company again…
yesterday I went for another field test… I had gone for one a few months ago but was called back because one eye didn’t do so well… thankfully both eyes did fine this time… then they took some scans of my eyes and I saw the doctor… he was pleased with all the results and said my current eye drops would still be fine… amazing what stress can be involved in something as simple as a vision exam…
this morning I also got a few pictures of the hibiscus in full bloom…
a reminder that being able to see is a wonderful thing…

took this picture yesterday morning of a bud…

the hibiscus tree has about 20 leaves on it… the rest fell off once the flowers bloomed the first few weeks after I brought it in…
full moon today… when we were driving to swimming the moon was huge above the trees… by the time we finished it had risen quite a bit higher, but was about half the size…
happily I had scalloped potatoes and ham for my supper, which my friend dropped off tonight… I cooked some snow peas to go along with it… these were the scalloped potatoes that our group had peeled and sliced for her family dinner after her brother’s memorial service last week… they were delicious… although there were lots of onions in them, her system of cutting the slices into small pieces infused the potatoes with the flavour but not great bits of onion…
this is the blossom tonight…
so happy to have blooming flowers in the house… George brought me orchids or other blooming plants often throughout the cold weather…

day started out with a bright spot…
that sweet hibiscus with blooms… great way to start the day…
not such a bright spot when I headed outside and saw windows covered with frost…
but when I got out of the car at the office and looked up, saw a lovely moon…
bright spot number three was getting to see my grandsons and have dinner with them and their parents… after dinner my son-in-law brought me home, on his way to work, and I had to take a picture of the beautiful sky…

had a wonderful surprise this morning when I came downstairs…
the hibiscus was blooming… often when you bring a plant indoors it will die back, so this was quite wonderful…
looked out the window and watched the moon… the eclipse had finished earlier and the moon was no longer red, but it sure was big… the picture doesn’t do it justice, lol…
once I got home from work I jumped in the car and raced to the grocery store… I am on for soup tomorrow and am doing a recipe I haven’t tried before, and because I didn’t feel great last night I didn’t get the shopping done… once home I peeled carrots and yams and tossed everything into a soup pot and got cooking…
the really funny part was that this was a crockpot recipe but I didn’t have time to use the crockpot to cook it…
surprisingly it isn’t as orange as expected because I got yams instead of sweet potatoes and they were white inside…
guess we will know for sure tomorrow…

brought in the hibiscus as the temperature has been going down…
think I’ve found a good spot for it… one of the plants around the bottom of it is blooming today… think it was happy to be a bit warmer…
months ago I bought a new comforter and it has been in the cupboard since, but today I put it on the bed… looks nice…
last night I ordered from Pho Hoang through Skip the Dishes… this is the restaurant that we sometimes would go to after aquasize… nice to be able to have it delivered… when the pho arrived, I gobbled it up so fast that I didn’t even get a picture… today I had the leftovers for my lunch…
quiet but productive day…
