tonight my daughter picked me up at the office and took me to her house…

we went and picked up Subway sandwiches for the boys and sushi for the adults…

tried some soft shell crab rolls along with tempura and California rolls…

swallowed the last bite and then got driven home where we met Jeff who had shovelled the sidewalk and unhooked some slightly frozen hoses…

they had borrowed the car last weekend and were bringing it back tonight… good kids…

very happy to have the hoses removed… hopefully tomorrow I can drain the hot tub…

as I move along this new path in my journey I do get lonesome for my beloved… I miss him all the time, but mainly I am enjoying my new life…

of course there are days where I feel down… this weekend I couldn’t unhook the hose to empty the hot tub… he had the strongest hands that could open/twist/turn anything… the fish tank is getting cloudy and he would have known exactly what type of filters we need… I’ve tried a couple of different kinds, but still don’t think I am getting the right ones, sigh…

was talking with someone who lost their partner shortly after George died… they have filled their time with other people, hardly ever on their own… recently they commemorated their partner’s passing with what sounded like a full blown funeral…

we will be celebrating George’s birthday in a few weeks, likely with burgers and milkshakes, maybe apple pie, three of his favourite foods… we will be together and share stories and laugher, and maybe a few tears but likely less than last year or the year before…

interesting the different ways that we each respond as we deal with these life altering events…

early morning hot tubs are becoming a Sunday pattern…

this morning I took out my phone and took a few pictures right from the tub…

IMG_8997.JPGit was lovely… for the first five minutes the jets weren’t going so I could hear the quiet and watch the squirrel make his rounds to collect peanuts…

ran out to do a few errands and picked up a pastry for my lunch… it was delicious…

IMG_8998.JPGsun shone for the majority of the day although the clouds filled the sky in the early evening but it didn’t rain, so that was good…

a young friend stopped by so that I could get some baby snuggles… she has twins, but only brought the little guy… the little girl had gone out with her daddy…

early this morning I went out for a hot tub… the sun was brilliant… made me smile…

IMG_8914-2.JPGlater I headed over to the kids’ place… we were spending some time having family pictures done… we went to a number of places and walked a long way, and there were many smiles…

watched a soccer practice for one of the boys and then headed home… drove over the Disraeli both ways… a big girl pants moment for me as I really dislike that bridge…

IMG_8918-1.JPGvery excited when I walked into the yard and saw the water falling beautifully… this is strange because usually within a few hours of my pond guy being here the water starts to get clumpy, with algae obstructing the flow…maybe it is too cold for algae, lol…

great time in the hot tub tonight…

it is a bit chilly and feels wonderful when your head is cool and your body warm…

could hear the leaves rustling in the neighbour’s tree as the wind blew gently and admired their lovely yellow colour as they were backlit by the streetlight…

the Virginia creeper leaves along the garage and pergola are nearly gone… interesting to see the shape of the vines now, quite different from just a few weeks ago…

IMG_8571.JPGthe jets didn’t come on the entire time I was out so I could hear the sounds of the evening…

as well as the rustling leaves I heard the planes landing and a neighbour’s dog barking… and the quiet…

a few raindrops landed in the water but not on my head because I put a hat on when I went out… I don’t like water on my head and thought that it might rain as I was heading out, so I grabbed it… fun to watch those drops as they landed in the water…

wonderful end to a Friday…

been a very quiet day… taking it easy in the hopes of shaking this cold…

went outside a few times, mainly to put chemicals in the hot tub…

had my big girl pants on when a huge spider ran across the ceiling in the bedroom… got a book and dealt with it without even cringing…

been fighting with a cold for the last few days…

sadly I think it might be winning…

last night when I got home I climbed into my pyjamas and then into bed… woke up two hours later, made some Kraft dinner, had a quick hot tub and went back to bed…

this morning I woke in my own bed… it was lovely… the bed I was in over the last week was fine, but there is something about being in your own…

last night I thought about having a hot tub but could hear the police helicopter flying over in circles… usually that means they are searching for someone so I don’t like to sit out there, lol… and I was rather tired…

this morning I went out for one… sigh… I do love my hot tub and miss it when I am away from home…

relaxed for the remainder of the day although I did wander through the garden a few times…

brought in two hydrangea flowers and put them in a vase…

just finished a great hot tub with a couple of my BS buddies…

the sky was clear and as we were chatting one of us spotted the space station crossing the sky…

I now get email notifications advising what time it will be passing overhead… this is helpful because I’ve seen it a few times but not been positive that’s what it was…

sometimes it is huge and bright and then it gets tiny and dull… I think it must be turning…

tonight, even though the moon is nearly full, the stars in the sky are amazing… often I can only see five or six… way more tonight… maybe on Friday or Saturday I will sleep on the deck…

the mosquitoes chased me in just as the moon rose over the trees…

last night I took a few shots of the moon through clouds on my phone… must have spent half an hour watching it out the bedroom window… picture doesn’t do it justice…

another beautiful morning in the garden…

watched two squirrels snacking
under the bird feeder while I had an early morning hot tub… the bluejays were at the feeder and there is obviously a baby in their family who was located in one of the cedars, and he was very hungry from the sound of things…

a dragonfly stopped by… quite red… got a good shot of it with one of the fish swimming over…

20140720-200720-72440681.jpgmade supper for the kids and had a nice visit with them… a beef roast with baked potatoes, cucumber in sour cream, salad and zucchini, mushrooms and fresh peas… they brought Slurpees, which was great as it was hot… even now it feels like 33.2…
