quiet day mostly… got up at five and had a lovely hot tub as clouds played peek-a-boo with the moon and dawn lit the sky… then back to bed for a few hours…

sat out in the garden and read, took photos, and enjoyed the pond till early afternoon…

 then watched a marathon of Top Chef Masters and napped…

picked up by the kids and went to the Olive Garden for dinner… I had been thinking about their salad and bread sticks for a while now… very long wait to get in, but most of our supper was good although Crystal’s wasn’t… the manager was quick to bring her something else so it all worked out well…

while there, we decided on a sleepover, so once we got home we watched a bit of TV, had a very nice time in the hot tub, and currently we are both eating popcorn and drinking purple koolaid…

last night I went out for a hot tub and the moon was looking spectacular in its fullness, so I came in, got the tripod and camera to take a few pictures…

of course, by then more clouds had materialized and I didn’t get anything great, although when I was in the hot tub later, the clouds opened up and the moon shone brightly again, lol…

tonight I was admiring the dahlia again and noticed that a morning glory is getting ready to open… I imagine it will be open when I head off to work in the morning…

took a few pics and then went to see if I could get a picture of the bud on the water lily in the pond… right now the water hyacinth are all gathered up around it… if you look hard, you might spot it on the right…

the waterfall is going again, so we will see how the water drops…

last night I sat in the hot tub watching for the meteor shower, although it wasn’t very likely I would see it as it was in the direction of a very bright street light…

was thinking how George may have been able to see some activity in the sky… he had much better eyes than I and could always spot the satellites and shooting stars…

tonight I arrived home to a quiet backyard as the pond folk had been in and turned off the waterfall as they attempt to find the leak in the pond…

amazing how much one gets used to a certain sound… reminded me of the goldfinch that stopped by to sing for us as we were eating our dinner on the deck last night…

still in recovery mode from all the recent activity here and after I ate my dinner I spent the rest of the evening sleeping…

going out for a short hot tub and then back to sleep for the night…

when I went to write this blog the computer wouldn’t connect to the internet and, rather than get rattled, I tried a few things and all of a sudden it was working again…

those darn big girl pants, lol…

oh how I miss my beloved…

pretty tired today… worried that I was going to fall asleep on the way home from work, but I didn’t, lol…

got home, said hi to the kid who was here and had a good nap… got up and had a hot tub and then Cyndi arrived home from her visit with a friend…

we had a lovely rehash of last night’s Champagne Bubble Party… it was a success and we enjoyed every moment… as always, we learned a few things and would do a couple of things differently next time…

we had a photo booth and had talked about putting someone in charge which we didn’t end up doing… that was a mistake… we think if someone was looking after it they may have encouraged more people to have their pictures taken…

we made six by six inch bubble wrap bits which weren’t in quite the right spot so they didn’t get played with too much…

the garden was decorated beautifully with balloons in champagne colours, round mirrors of different sizes, clear glass ball ornaments, disco balls and lots of flowers…

I was busy and didn’t take many pictures… luckily Cyndi got a couple of shots that actually showed some of the bubbles floating up from the machines…

the children had great fun blowing bubbles, jumping into a boat filled with coloured balls… and running around the yard, up and over the decks… they were enthralled with the various bubble machines and kept going over to them to see what the bubbles were doing…

the adults enjoyed visiting and trying the champagne with various fruits and juices in it… everyone brought a bottle and we now have quite a lovely collection of bottles which we didn’t drink…

food was great and everyone enjoyed the beef sliders, meatballs and Caprese salad and the chicken balls (which we ordered from a local Chinese Restaurant)… a fruit ball and chocolate fountain, along with mini champagne cupcakes and cheesecakes filled out the menu…

bubble gum, gum balls, cheese balls and M&Ms rounded out the snacks…

a great event… now, when can we do it again…

last night I spent some time in the hot tub remembering…

last year at this time I was home but barely moving… getting in and out of the bed was very painful and I needed constant help… my nephew spent the first few days with me because they let me out of the hospital early and the friend who was coming hadn’t arrived yet…

he had to literally lift me to get out of bed… the pain was fairly high as I wasn’t taking any drugs… and even though I had stopped taking them within 12 hours of the surgery there were still residual effects which continued to make me feel sick…

it was months before I was able to get back into the hot tub…

so that’s what I was remembering…

got up around 8:30 and went to the solarium to watch the water and have a bite to eat… Cyndi found me and proceeded to spot a group of dolphins off the side of he ship and a whale… she has very good eyes…

we went and put a deposit on another cruise, which you can do without choosing a time or destination… we are thinking of the Caribbean down the road… I have to find a buddy to go with me…

headed back to the room to sleep as I woke up feeling like I had run into a wall… think it was the exertion of preparing and participating in the snorkelling… to explain how bad it was, I took drugs in an attempt to feel better…

slept for quite a while and then we went for lunch where Ron spotted one or two whales out the window… they were breaching but my camera was having trouble focusing so I didn’t get a picture…

went to look at all the pictures taken of us and spent ages choosing the ten we liked best…

had a lovely time in the hot tub and relaxing in the solarium…

packed up the suitcases and after supper in the Windjammer went to sit by the windows and have a last glass of wine…

I nearly know how to get everywhere and we get off the ship tomorrow morning, sigh…

a day filled with choices…  first thing I chose to rush to get ready for work and then sat for 15 minutes, camera in hand, waiting for the purple finch who had stopped at the feeder as I walked through the living room… little beggar never came back while I was there, lol…

put my contacts in for the first time since coming home from Mexico as my infection finally seems to be gone…

was very happy to go to yoga at noon as my side/back is so much better… it was lovely to be in the class again…

headed to the fabric store when I got off work to check out the outdoor fabric options… now I just have to find the picture that I took off my phone about 3 days ago that shows how much I need…

last stop was Safeway to get a few groceries for Sunday dinner… now I won’t have to go out at all tomorrow…

made dinner when I got home and then had a nap and watched TV… just woke up and went out for a hot tub to discover that it had rained quite a bit while I was napping but although everything was wet, there were no raindrops coming down…

all in all, a wonderful day…

one of the first things I saw this morning out the front window was a robin filling it’s beak with old alyssum bits…  it gathered up a huge amount and then flew off… obviously in the process of building a lovely nest…

made me think a bit about my nest and how it feels rather empty…

later, when I was driving to physio, I was feeling a little sorry for myself… wishing that George was with me, to look after me…

was thinking how he would have enjoyed making sure that I did the exercises prescribed by Tori… today’s included a tennis ball to roll around on my hip…

realizing there are fourteen days to my Alaska cruise and I still haven’t read all the information that arrived in yesterday’s mail… and I need to start checking the weather along the coast to see what it is like as the days get closer…

beautiful night, with the new moon and lots of stars when I was just out in the hot tub… will see what tomorrow brings…

had two important papers to deal with tonight…

first one was from Krevco… it was the water test for the hot tub… when you refill it you need to take the water in to be tested to be sure that everything is balanced… filled the tub on Saturday and it took until this morning to get to 103 degrees, which is my favourite temperature…

as soon as I got home from work I took a sample in and then came home and started adding the chemicals at twenty minute intervals…  looking forward to a hot tub tonight…

then I headed to Ness Physiotherapy, which is quite close to home, and I think was the place that George went to off and on… it was my first time having physio so I was a little tense… Tori advised that the problem areas were the iliopsoas and tensor fascia latae… she pushed and prodded, pulled, did some fancy thing with electrical current and gave me a page with some exercises to do to strengthen the sore bits…

finally got home and had a nap and some dinner… now off to do some exercises – one reminds me of aquasize and the other of yoga, lol… and then a hot tub… which apparently is a very good thing for the above-mentioned problems…

was missing George throughout the whole process, but did put on the big girl pants and got it all done… some days that is easier than others…

was reading a blog tonight and saw a beautiful magnolia flower which reminded me of some great shots I got of magnolias when visiting Courtenay, BC a few years back…  they were in Filberg Park and were spectacular…

spent a good portion of today dealing with the hot tub… had a lovely time in it first thing this morning watching Juncos and Sparrows… then I turned it off and let the water drain…  takes quite a while for that step… during which I took back an ottoman and had lunch out at a lovely little Vietnamese restaurant with my nephew and his girlfriend…

then home to clean and fill the tub… now it is heating up – slowly – and I am hoping that by tomorrow night I will be back in it… I took some pics of the process but my daughter stopped by and borrowed the camera, lol…

while sitting outside I got a bit of sun, but put on lotion and then stayed out of it… easy to forget how strong the sun can be early in the season… heard a variety of birdsong and also the wonderful sound of the Canada Geese flying overhead… someone new has arrived in the neighbourhood but I haven’t figured out the song just yet..

what a wonderful day… I truly am blessed…
