big girl pants, flowers, George, light, treadmill

had a rather hectic day…

in amongst all the activity these beautiful flowers arrived…

they were a surprise from my colleague, who is admiring them in the picture…

I love flowers and have been missing them the last few weeks… George always made sure I had live flowers during January and February to help make the winter easier… so far I haven’t been able to pick any up as it has been too cold to have them in the car… he would warm the car up and then pop the flowers in and rush home, lol…

on our way out of the office I had to stop and take a picture of the gorgeous sky…

it was still light at 5:03… that is very exciting…

made dinner, had a nap and then walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes…

big girl pants, light, Millennium Library, sad, Shelmerdine

Shelmerdine spent weeks working on a corner of the Millennium Library Park as the weather turned cold and the snow began to fall… we think part of the construction was a pad for food trucks to park on, but we won’t know until Spring comes… this portion is right behind our building…

the other thing we noticed was balls hanging from the trees…

they weren’t lit for quite a while but about a week ago they started to light up the area… got this shot on the way into the office this morning… still rather dark as you can see…

have been using my SAD light and I think it is helping keep me happier…

came home a bit later tonight and did notice that it is staying a bit lighter in the evening…

looking forward to each additional minute of light…

big girl pants, bulb, light

on Sunday Jeff figured out that the bulb I put into the light in the bedroom was bad… good news really because the light still worked fine…

then we had to search the house to find a bulb we could steal as none of the ones in the cupboard were the right size…

IMG_9707.JPG
everyone left and I headed upstairs to discover that one of the two bulbs in the hall fixture had blown as well…

next morning one of the bulbs in the living room fixture went…

really need to go and get more light bulbs before every light in the house goes out…

big girl pants, garden, geese, George, light, morning glory, sun

noticing every day how there is less light… waking up in the dark and needing to turn on the lights to get ready…

the sun is setting around eight so it is dark before you know it… less than thirteen hours of light each day…

the garden is struggling as well, what with the low temperatures… I check as soon as I get outside to see if any morning glories have braved the weather and bloomed…

IMG_8256.JPGI can’t see a morning glory without thinking of George counting how many were blooming each morning when I was in hospital for a six week period, and often bringing me a picture… sure do miss him…

IMG_8257.JPGhard to see, but this is a picture of some geese flying over first thing… the sound of their honking makes it clear that Fall is coming, lol…

IMG_8258.JPGfresh tomato with my chicken, potatoes and roasted garlic tonight… love popping something into the oven and napping while it cooks…

even with a persistent cold, life is good…

light, love sunshine, Millenium Library Maze, sundogs, sunlight, sunrise, sunset

have really been noticing the additional light each day recently…

today the sun rose at 7:55 am and set at 5:29 pm for a total of 9 hours and 33 minutes of light… a month ago, on January 4th it rose at 8:25 am and set at 4:41 pm for a total of 8 hours and 16 minutes… every day an additional three or four minutes are added on, which doesn’t sound like much, but it sure makes a difference…

amazing what an hour and seventeen minutes can do for a person… nearly everyone I have talked with recently has noticed it… and the fact that we are all feeling better and happier…

the temperature has also risen a bit and we are enjoying more sunshine… walked over to the library yesterday and took a picture of the maze that was built by volunteers over the weekend… it is very cute…

Millennium Library Maze…

last night I got this picture of the sunset…

sunset last night…

tonight on our way home from work the sun was shining into the car and I was basking in it… we also saw a very nice sundog…

I am also doing a better job of dinner, which I think might also be related to the light… I feel as though I have the energy to cook something instead of relying on frozen things from the freezer or something that doesn’t involved any prep…

I do love sunshine…
