on Saturday the sun shone through the bedroom window for a good portion of the day…
even though I was feeling blue I enjoyed the bright sunlight…
we have been enjoying more sunlight over the last week or so… there are days when the sun shines all day and other days when it is sunny and overcast throughout the day…
got this great shot of the sunlight highlighting a portion of “the installation”, lol…

this afternoon I spent an hour and a half with the dietician that we saw about six or seven years ago just after George was diagnosed with heart problems…
she had been very helpful then and she was equally as helpful today…
I have been researching and consulting with all kinds of people for the last three months as I have moved into this diabetic aspect of my journey…
I had questions and wanted her take on some of the information I have collected…
got lots of answers and up-to-date information… now I have to make a few changes to what I am eating… will start eating more fruit and need to include grains and starches in my diet…
but, on the whole, I’ve been doing a great job… yay me:-)…
and next time I see her I hope to do it at a CancerCare appointment…

not feeling well today… every part of my body is aching… yesterday my neck and shoulders were sore, but today everything hurts…
went out and got groceries and had a nap after everything was put away… didn’t help…
know I’m sick because I had to tidy up the bedroom before climbing into bed… when I feel miserable I always want the bedroom to be organized… luckily it only took a few minutes…
picked up daffodils while I was out and have some of them in the bedroom to help perk up the space…
the sun was shining on them for a portion of the afternoon…
thinking I will go straight to bed after supper and maybe get up around ten or eleven and go out for a hot tub… then back to bed…
this is how the hot tub looked yesterday when I was adding chemicals… it has been very cold but was lovely when I went out last night…

this morning there was a light dusting of snow on the ground… made me take this picture of one of the cute cushions I purchased this year…
throughout the day whenever I looked outside it was snowing…
when it was time to leave the office there was lots of snow to shovel off the car… the temperature was quite warm and the roads were very sloppy…
we stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few staples which was great because I hadn’t shopped on the weekend and had run out of veggies…
it is beautiful out… the world is white… it isn’t snowing right now but there is supposed to be more overnight…
only yesterday we had been talking about the amazing quiet after a snowfall… looking forward to that quiet when I get up in the morning…

what a wonderful re-energizing evening with my ReImagining friends…
had chicken pot pie from Costco and it was delicious… with broccoli salad and Greek salad… topped it off with a small piece of lovely light cheesecake for dessert…
then a great conversation about the goodness in the depths of the darkness of winter…
exhausted when I got there, but filled with peace and contentment when I left…
once home had a lovely hot tub to top off the evening…
fabulous way to start the week…

spent a good portion of the morning looking through photos from six years ago when my youngest grandson was born…
it was bittersweet, because right at that time I was going through a very difficult situation with work…
that day we spent a number of hours waiting at the hospital before things began to move along…
I remember George coming right from the end of his shift and just being in time to hold the baby after he was born…
and here we are six years later and celebrating this special day…
life is very different…
new job I’ve been working at for over five years…
a widow for nearly three years…
cancer survivor…
living with diabetes…
every day I am reminded how important it is to enjoy every moment because we have no idea what tomorrow might bring…

I’ve talked about how much I need flowers in January and February… they make me feel good…

this rose replaced one that drooped over last week… had to take a few pics because it had tiny droplets of water on it…

this rose is a stunning orange and was for a colleague’s birthday… another beauty…

sadly, my hydrangeas are finally on their last legs… I have enjoyed them every day…

for a while now people have been commenting on how good all my meals are…
I am watching everything that goes into my mouth and eating lots of veggies…
giving up sugar hasn’t been that difficult… even chocolate hasn’t been a problem, so far…
the main time I miss sugar is in my tea… I tried a teaspoon of honey, but it didn’t really seem to sweeten the tea so I decided it wasn’t worth it…
I still miss chips, but am having a few of them every now and then…
working at finding new ways to eat the foods I can still have and to be sure to think ahead to the next day so I can have healthy meals… not something you can necessarily pull off at the last minute, lol…
tonight I made a Cornish hen and avocado sandwich on flax bread… added a bit of the cranberry jelly I made for Christmas… it was delicious…
I have an appointment with a dietician in a few weeks and am looking for clarity around what to eat with what and if I am clear on the things I can’t have…
glad that I haven’t had this meeting yet as I think I have a better understanding of the things I want to review with her…

had to take the car to work today so after I got off I decided to stop at the credit union to deposit a cheque and get some cash… traffic along Portage was brutal and I was worried I wasn’t going to make it before they closed at five, but I just snuck in under the wire…
next, went to Home Outfitters where I had a gift card from over a year ago… just found it last month… thought I would check out what type of goodies they had that I might need…
had a lovely wander around and chose a few fun things…
got a silicone oven mitt on sale, a new cookie sheet to replace one of the very stained and bent ones in the cupboard, a cute scarf hanger which might hold the scarves that are currently on three different hangers… and finally a purple mini food processor (on sale too)…
it was great fun…
had shrimp for dinner, went out for a hot tub and watched a bit of TV…
really needed to add some colour to my day so found this shot from the summer… I do love my morning glories…

got a lovely surprise today…
my friend brought me a gorgeous purple orchid…
it was a thank you for using my car… I’m happy to lend it to her… it always comes back filled with gas and freshly washed… I still don’t like to take it to the car wash…
during the winter I don’t take it out much so it is always happy to get a drive in, lol…
I was so happy because I’ve been trying to get out and pick an orchid up for the house… they are wonderful because they flower for a long time…
I do tend to treat flowering plants like cut flowers… enjoy them until they die off…
was particularly lovely, as I had spent the day at home… still wasn’t feeling well so gave in and climbed back into bed this morning…
had a hot tub in the afternoon and watched the squirrel come down through the trees like they were stairs… didn’t see any birds even though the sun was shining… it shone for a good portion of the day which was also very nice as it has been dull for ages…
hoping to feel much better in the morning…
