very full day…

started this morning when I went through the closet and colour-blocked the clothes… in the process filled another pass-me-over box…

lots of purple, lol…

also made another arrangement of flowers… decided I want some in every room…

ordered lunch from my favourite dimsum restaurant before heading out to do errands… I love shrimp dumplings and stuffed eggplant and it was delicious and filled me up…

beautiful temperature out and on my way home took this picture of the water at the end of the street…

picked up a cute wine rack… now have to fill it… put everything away, had a nap and watched some tv…

have added some chemicals to the hot tub, but had to stop when the snow started coming down like crazy…

great supper of leftovers… now to decide whether to go out for a hot tub in all that fresh snow, or not, lol…

had a lovely lunch at Jane’s… met a great friend and we had a wonderful time… lots of laughter and sharing of stories… always enjoy our time together…

the space is bright and open and the ceilings are very high… the staff were so cute and worked very hard to make sure we had a great experience… it is staffed with culinary school students…I had lamb shank with couscous, broccoli rabe, ribbons of carrot and zucchini,  with a pear salsa… yum… everything tasted very nice although I didn’t finish the couscous… I still haven’t had any that I’ve enjoyed…

brought home my flowers after work… trimmed the stems and rearranged them into two vases… one for upstairs…



and one for the living room… the vase they came in is very beautiful…



what a lovely way to end a long week…

I’ve been wearing slippers for the last number of months because the kitchen floor is cold half way into the room from the sliding doors…

this is quite unusual as I rarely wear things on my feet… I wear sandals all year round at the office…

what I am missing is the heated floor in the bathroom… can’t feel the warmth through the slippers…

when we put in the heating wires under the tiles we thought the heat would radiate out from the pad, but it didn’t we learned, so the space right in front of the sink is cold…

the day has gone by gently… messages and calls from family and friends… flowers from the kids, lunch with colleagues… surprise supper out with some of the kids…



I am home, cozy in my bed, thinking of my wonderful life…

had some great moments when people commented on Facebook about pictures and memories of George… warmed my heart…

it has been healing in a way…

this morning I read an article that touched me…

it mentioned a quote from Paulo Coelho:

If you are brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.

made me wonder if I have to let go of George… and exactly how I would do that…

not sure I want to let him go, but maybe it is the sadness that I must let go…

how do I remember the special times and not feel the sad moments…

thought that I’ve been doing fairly well…

tomorrow marks three years since his death… trying to figure out how to deal with the day…

for the last few years I have had dinner with all of my kids… this year they have things happening and we can’t gather without a lot of complex organizing, so I said we wouldn’t… 

I am sure I will speak with my daughters at some point in the evening but felt I/we needed to be moving forward…

maybe that’s why the quote touched me…

Monday was a very bad day… he died on a Monday… 

we will see what tomorrow brings…

last night I was so tired that I fell asleep and forgot to write a post…

on my way to work in the morning it was a bit foggy but beautiful sun dogs were my company on the drive… my phone was in the back of the car so I never did get a picture of them…

had fun taking a shot of the orchid against the picture on the wall… not exactly what I had I mind, but it was entertaining to try…

moon will be full in a few days…

took this tonight on my way down the stairs…

made one of my favourite comfort foods for dinner… not sure how well it fit into my new eating plan… canned salmon with sliced potatoes in a white sauce… added mushrooms and water chestnuts and used a very small amount of the sauce… usually the potatoes would be pan fried in butter but I used a tiny bit of avocado oil and steamed them to finish… liked the crunch of the water chestnuts a lot…

wonderful day… up early and walked to the Park Cafe where I met all the kids…

after breakfast we went to visit the polar bears… saw five of them today… although maybe it was all six, because it is difficult to tell them apart…

I am sure that these three were playing ring-around-the-rosy in the pool…

got a good shot of all of the boys with a friend in an inukshuk…

and I was very happy to pick up a new keychain, this one made with wood… my last one lost a leg recently… I bought it with George when we were visiting Vancouver Island…

after a great time I walked home and soaked in the hot tub before having a nap…

got a shot of the special tree by the Park bridge… looked a bit cold, lol…

also got some shots of the snow which looked full of diamonds today…

last night I spent a few glorious moments watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky… I was just getting out of the hot tub and could have missed the whole thing but was so lucky to catch it…

tonight I got a picture of the moon and clouds… sadly, not a good one, but it was a beautiful view…


and topped off the day with eleven thousand steps:-)…

last night at 11:30 I took this picture out the window…

the dragonfly mobile was lit up… it works on solar power so I am very excited at this example that the sun is getting stronger every day… woo hoo…

had a quiet day… got a few jobs done around the house… watched some tv and had a nap…

brought home my tulips… the white ones are a bit sad about the whole travelling in the cold business… 

probably didn’t help that I left them in the car for fifteen minutes when I ran into Safeway…

lovely sunshine in my eyes when I was watching TV this morning… not even sad that I couldn’t see the show…

when we were in Seattle in 2013, I got this amazing calendar which I put away until January 2014, without losing it, lol…



I have enjoyed it every day as I would wander past it… it reminded me of the spectacular day we met Dale Chihuly at Chihuly Garden and Glass… 



this is the last month… I am wondering about whether I can order another one for 2015 on line…

I will never forget the day we spent amongst all of the amazing glass sculptures… he really is a genius…

last night I searched through my closet and found this pink shirt to wear today…

actually the only pink piece of clothing I own… but I dug it out to wear to support the PinkShirtDay initiative to fight bullying… last year I forgot until much later in the day… 

amazing how many people commented on the colour…

when I got home tonight I took a picture of the new lamp… I think I like it in this spot…

more beautiful sunshine coming through the window so I took a few pictures of the light on the orchid…

hard to get a good shot the way the sunbeams were coming through the window…

it is quite astonishing to me how light and sunshine can raise my spirits…
