slept out on the deck last night… it was lovely… put three cushions on a lounge chair, two blankets and a pillow… not a single mosquito, woo hoo…

IMG_7319.JPGdid a bit of weeding, ate brunch in the garden, washed outdoor furniture and filled all the bird feeders…

spent some time reading and watching the birds flitting around… there was a drinking party and bath time happening too, lol…

IMG_7321.JPGafter cleaning out much of the water hyacinth I am getting a much better view of the fish as they swim around…

even the chickadee let me get a picture…

IMG_7323.JPGI got within arms length of a female Downy Woodpecker… must have stood there for about three minutes chatting to her, while she was trying to get a peanut out of one of the front feeders… lovely…

first thing this morning I walked over to “the A” to have breakfast with my son-in-law on his way home from work… spotted this bunny, just sitting there watching me…

IMG_7282.JPGI also spotted this new Little Free Library… there are more and more of these popping up…

IMG_7283.JPGsat out in the garden for a while and even did a bit of weeding…

my daughter picked me up and we went to Shelmerdine where I had some fun wandering around… picked up two butterfly bushes as well as some blue Veronica to replace the pink ones in the garden that I want to dig out… also found a few pots and house plants… then we stopped at a market garden and got peas, tiny potatoes and fresh bread… made myself grilled cheese and onion and sat out in the garden to eat…

and smell the roses, or in this case, the flowers…

IMG_7246.JPGif you remember last time when I came home at the end of the day the flower had fallen off… wasn’t sure if it was the wind…

IMG_7251.JPGbut, tonight, when I got into the garden the blossoms were both on the ground… possibly another one-day only flowering plant… must see if I can figure out the name of it…

there is another blossom which will hopefully open on the weekend and I can spend some time by the pond enjoying it…

the sky was lovely this morning as I drove to work… there were soft clouds across the sky which blurred the sun…

I got great pictures of beautiful roses with my phone and camera… I do love to take pictures of flowers…

IMG_7232.JPGon my way home I had to stop at Dairy Queen for a Blizzard… it was only to help the kids at Children’s Hospital, lol…

IMG_7238.JPGemptied the basement fridge freezer and put the garbage out for tomorrow’s pick up… excited to have the fridge and freezer down there removed by Hydro… they come on Monday to deal with the big freezer and Thursday for the fridge… already have some boxes down there for give away items and garbage…

I really have so much to be grateful for…

today I found opportunities to savour the moments… spent a few minutes enjoying the gorgeous gladiolas and the light and shadow cast by the sun…

IMG_7197.JPGas I was backing out of the driveway I spotted one of the goldfinches at the front feeder… took a few moments to watch and get a few pictures… rarely do I get this close to them…

IMG_7206.JPGtonight I spent time by the pond and watched a squirrel enjoying a snack at one of the feeders… must have spent half an hour watching it, lol…

spent the whole day dealing with technology…

lots of time trying to accomplish particular processes…

lots of time waiting for responses from three different technical people…

and lots and lots of time on the phone trying to understand and solve issues…

I’m always working/dealing with technology, but don’t usually spend the entire day at it… thankfully most issues have been resolved…

just a bit tiring, lol…

just finished a great hot tub with a couple of my BS buddies…

the sky was clear and as we were chatting one of us spotted the space station crossing the sky…

I now get email notifications advising what time it will be passing overhead… this is helpful because I’ve seen it a few times but not been positive that’s what it was…

sometimes it is huge and bright and then it gets tiny and dull… I think it must be turning…

tonight, even though the moon is nearly full, the stars in the sky are amazing… often I can only see five or six… way more tonight… maybe on Friday or Saturday I will sleep on the deck…

the mosquitoes chased me in just as the moon rose over the trees…

last night I took a few shots of the moon through clouds on my phone… must have spent half an hour watching it out the bedroom window… picture doesn’t do it justice…

started the day in the garden… two blossoms on the hibiscus and you can see what a beautiful morning it was…

the sounds in the garden were lovely, there were chickadees and goldfinches at the feeder, while the water was falling in the pond…

shortly after that, the nail guns took over as my neighbour was having his roof shingled, lol… caught one of the chickadees, which is difficult as they are very fast…

spent a good portion of the day getting the required groceries and making spinach dip and five pounds of potato salad for the big birthday party… mom loves the spinach dip, and dad the potato salad…

our oldest grandson turned fourteen… cannot believe that fourteen years have passed since he arrived in our lives… he is a lovely young man and George and I both enjoyed watching him as he has grown… George would be very proud… I know I am…

enjoyed a wander around the garden today…

IMG_7154.JPGlast night I enjoyed two of the ripe tomatoes, which were delicious… this one is just about ready…

IMG_7155.JPGone of the hydrangea blooms is so heavy it has fallen over… might look for something to stake it up…

last night my daughter stopped by with this beautiful purple crockpot… I already have a nice silver and black one which she is going to take for her new kitchen…

yesterday for my lunch I had shrimp rolls…

they were a treat from one of my colleagues who knows how much I love them…

they were the person who introduced me to shrimp rolls in the first place…

when George died, everyone from work came to be with me… they came in groups of twos and threes, and always brought me food…

I had no appetite and hadn’t eaten for days and when I finally did eat something it was one of the shrimp rice rolls…

I’ve had them a few times since, but yesterday it brought back all the memories…
