got home a few minutes after five last night and took this picture of the front street to show the light…

  
was quite excited to realize that it was light out… we are now on the side of the season where it is brighter every day… yay… 

always feel more positive when there is more light and sunshine… I take vitamin D and usually use a SAD light, but haven’t taken the time to turn in on in the morning for the last few weeks…

took this shot focussed tighter on the trees across the creek…

  
not really sure what happened, but it came out more like a painting than a photograph…

today I have done very little… changed the bed and then planted my behind on it for the majority of the day… feels wonderful to be doing nothing, lol…

happy to be able to take the time to recuperate from the crazy hectic weeks I’ve been experiencing…

recently I have been thinking about what good shape I am in these days compared to just a few years ago… I can lift things and walk without any problems… and I have no discomfort of any kind… 

I am blessed…

today marks 3 years since I started herbiggirlpants… 

as I was sitting out in the hot tub tonight, gazing at the stars, I was feeling a bit sorry for myself… happy that I have kept up blogging on a regular basis, but feeling that I haven’t done as much to help others who are going through the loss of a loved one…

also missing my beloved…

the Advent fairy came this morning with a box full of boxes… spent a few minutes before leaving the house lining them up on the counter…

  
I love presents, which might be why I enjoy Advent so much, lol… day 1 was a lovely purple ball for the tree… which I haven’t put up yet… have plans with a friend to decorate this weekend… excited to see what suggestions she has to change things up…

thinking of so many who I know who are struggling with health issues these days… 

six months…

six months ago today I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes…

hard to realize it’s been that long… and on the other hand feels like just a few days…

big changes to my life since then… no more sugar or chocolate, stricter diet with more veggies and less meat, more exercise, needle pokes, weight loss, and lots of research…

feeling better on the whole… been thinking of some of the health issues I’ve dealt with over the last number of years… pancreatitis and gall bladder surgery, cancer diagnosis followed by hysterectomy and hernia repair… 

had to learn to deal with some of these things on my own… miss George so much during these difficult times…

he was always there to help get me through illnesses and looked after me all the time…

on my own, I’ve had to figure out when I need to call someone, who the first call will be to, and what I have to do when I am feeling sick… sometimes I want to put off getting help when I’m not feeling well…

I am so blessed to have my daughters and their partners… we talk on a regular basis and I see the kids here at least once a week… most jobs that need to be taken care of are looked after by them…

seems like those big girl pants are fitting better every day… whether I want them to, or not…

been keeping track of my exercise since last April…

have found that I try to get in my goal of 5000 steps most days and been very proud of myself on the days I have gone way over…

got the Fitbit when we were having one of our stepping contests at work and have found it a great way to pay attention to my activity level…

it’s only been since mid January that I started to record my caloric intake thanks to a comment from one of my colleagues…

it is now imperative that I record what I am eating, so having the option to do most of the recording in one place is helpful…

I continue to search for something where I can record the blood sugar readings as well as the food log in a simple manner…

been crocheting a lot lately… making prayer shawls and blankets for those in my circle who have been facing health issues…

this blue one was for someone who recently had surgery and will have some healing to do…

as I work on them I think about the person they are for and try to infuse healing thoughts and good vibes into the yarn… when I worked on this one the Olympics were on and lots of energy was racing around the room…

I don’t know how to follow a pattern, but I know how to do single, double and triple crochet stitches… once I’ve got it to the size I think I need, I crochet all around it… every one is different and a learning experience, lol…

this one was for someone else who recently had surgery…

the really funny part is I never remember to take a picture when they are finished…

sadly, I am now working on another one… not sad to be making it, sad that my friend is not doing so well…
