spent some time in the hot tub this morning…

  
had to put on my water boots and my touque… starting to be cold on the feet and the ears…

 

a dozen geese flew just over the house in total silence… wonderful view of them…  what a special moment…

as I was sitting there I was thinking of my new spoon…

  
reminded me of going to a family member’s cottage for weekends a number of years ago… George and I were both early risers and he would make coffee with two spoonfuls of sugar and a good dollop of milk… took a while to stir that sugar in, and the sound of the stirring would drive our host, who was trying to sleep in, crazy… got to be a bit of a private joke for us…

hadn’t thought of that for years, lol…

got my pictures printed and put them into two of the squares in the coffee table…

  
asked one of my grandsons to help me and he had a hard time because he thought they should line up exactly… eventually he gave up on the job and asked his mom to finish… we did have some fun looking at them and remembering the events…

hoping that visitors will also enjoy looking through them…

spent time in the garden today…

first thing was emptying the hot tub…

  
takes quite a while to drain…

  
then, while it filled, I emptied pots and baskets… also cut back, and cleaned off the dahlia tubers as I prepped the garden for winter, sigh…

brought in the last of the flowers and blooms from the dahlias… hope they continue to bloom like the canna has…

  
put out a few Thanksgiving decorations, set the table for Monday’s dinner, and watched some tv…

made stuffing… tomorrow I will prepare the vegetables, which makes it much more relaxing on Monday…

I looked out the window at one point and the light looked odd so I ran downstairs and checked the front and back windows…

the sky was spectacular…

have been blessed to have caught so many gorgeous views of the sky in the last while…
so much to be thankful for…

what a wonderful relaxing evening I have spent in the garden…

on my walk home I met up with this bunny…

  
this was the precursor for the rest of the evening…

while my dinner was cooking, I sat outside on the deck by the hot tub to watch for the goldfinch family… and look who turned up…

  
after supper, had a short nap and came back out to finish my book and have spent the last hour or so enjoying the antics of a little red squirrel…

  
he started out on the bench by the bird feeder…

 
happily snacking on fallen sunflower seeds, he spent some time on the bottom deck…

  

moved over to the planters on the main deck and happily posed for me by the flowers…

under the deck and onto the steps where some leaves were the meal of choice…

  
sparrows have been cleaning up the leftovers under the feeder right beside him and everyone has just gone about their business…

he’s been back and forth just a foot from me for the whole evening, clearly not considering me a threat of any kind…

what a wonderful treat to have the time and opportunity to enjoy the antics in the garden…

walked home from the grocery store after work…

beautiful evening so I sat outside while my supper cooked…

lots of activity in the garden… 

goldfinches were flirting back and forth to the feeder…

cutest little bunny wandered by…

 
and sat beside the garbage can for the longest time…

a squirrel came right up to me on the deck and gave me a good look… I advised it that this was my deck at which point it turned and scurried off, lol…

a fair bit later, possibly after a nap, I went outside and took this picture of the sky…

 

darkening early as it is getting ready to rain… the garden is quite dark… really enjoying how the white flowers pop in the evening…

  
thinking about a hot tub but may depend on whether there is a downpour…

was up early, had a hot tub and breakfast…

finished packing my bag…

  
and there seemed to be lots of room left in it… wonder what I forgot!?

taxi to the airport and a short wait before boarding the plane…

  
nice flight…

  
landed in Ottawa, met by my daughter and we took a bendy bus to her house… there are many bendy buses here… at home there are two for the entire city…

  
then we walked to the local strip mall and had a pedicure on our way to pick up groceries for supper…

  
seems like I travelled a lot today using quite a number of modes of transportation, although I didn’t take a boat, lol…

glad to be here safe and sound and have a few days with these kids…

recently I’ve been coming outside and sitting on the deck to write my blog post… lovely way to end the day and another opportunity to get outside…

today I’ve been on all three decks for some period of the day…

 
started the day with an early morning hot tub… turned the waterfall back on so got to hear the lovely water sounds… sat on the back deck and read and watched the various wildlife that visited…

  
besides the goldfinches there were squirrels, butterflies and a large dragonfly… I think the second goldfinch in this picture was a juvenile, not the missus…

  
went in while it rained, and then sat on the deck by the door to read… while there, a cute little bunny came by…

 
sat there for at least ten minutes before hopping away… 

lovely treat when my kids called and three of them met me for supper at The Captain’s Table… my favourite fish and chip place… luckily I walked there and back to help make up for the fried food I ate…

 
they headed off to wash the car andchauffeur one of the other kids, and I stopped at the grocery store to pick up salad fixins for tomorrow’s supper…

noticed the first clematis bloom when I arrived home… it is doing very well this year…

  

going to make some tea and read a bit more while I’m out here and the sky is blue… enjoying the moment…

was up early, made a nice breakfast and planned to work in the garden when I was done…

sadly it started to rain when I went outside so didn’t get much done for a good portion of the day… passed the time watching tv :-)…

last night I had a hot tub and sat out in the swing chair watching the colours change on the waterfall… beautiful… this is the cute little remote that works the lights…

  
feeling good and full of energy, when the sky cleared up around four, I spent some time in the front flower bed cutting down wild roses and pulling out grass… filled a pail but only got about half of it done… hope to finish that off tomorrow…

kids came over and we had supper while the hot tub was emptying… after they left I cleaned and filled it… now to wait for it to warm up and put in a few chemicals…

sitting out, with a blanket on and reading by the pond…

 
good news is that the waterfall is still running beautifully… bad news is that the pond keeps needing more water…

   

oh well, we’ll figure it out… poppies are getting closer to opening every day and at least one of the dahlias I planted has popped through the soil…

  
life is good and I am lucky enough to realize that and enjoy every moment…

well, maybe not every moment… a mosquito just tried to bite me, lol…

wonderful day… early morning hot tub and a walk to the Park where I wandered around the English and Leo Mol gardens…

got some pictures of the undone gardens and am looking forward to taking pictures from the same spots as the summer progresses… was thinking about how cool it would be to see inside the Park’s greenhouses…

checked out the Duck Pond and spotted a few ducks and geese, but not many yet…

on my walk over I spotted four mallards in our creek… didn’t see the wood ducks though…

kids picked me up and we went to a number of stores and greenhouses… got some baskets of flowers and a great collection of pond plants… made me very happy because if you don’t pick them up early you might not find any… too cold for them to go out yet, but the counter in the dining room has become a lovely little greenhouse…

  
had a teenburger for lunch and picked up the fixings for steak and shrimp for our dinner…

Jeff and the boys caught the fish in the tank…

  
and then moved them into the pond, carrying on grandpa’s tradition… he always loved taking them outside after the long winter in their condo…

 
had a number of conversations with my Ottawa kids and spent the entire day with my kids here…

the boys cleaned up after dinner and I am now prone on the bed watching tv…

worn out, lol…

been busy since I got up today…

started out with a lovely hot tub and watched geese fly right over me…

  

added pictures to the new frame and finally got it set up in the living room… still thinking I might want the 14″ one instead of this 10″ one so I haven’t hung it on the wall just yet…

then it was a cab downtown to meet my daughter and spend two hours at the Home and Garden show… might just have found someone to help me in the garden… also spoke with my pond guy and we have a plan to get it all finished as soon as they can work outside…

  

then we headed to Silver City to meet up with the little guys to see Home… ate half a bag of popcorn… can’t help myself where popcorn is involved…

stopped at Safeway to pick up a few ingredients for our supper and headed home to get it made as my son-in-law had to get to work…

cleaned up from supper and got the ingredients ready for tomorrow evening’s gathering… need to be ready as I will be working late…

luckily I am going in a bit later and have made a lunch date with my grandson who is on spring break…

might sleep in a bit in the morning because I am just a little tired, lol…

finally the hot tub is back up to 103… early Friday morning I wasn’t sleeping so decided to go out for a hot tub, only to discover that the heater wasn’t running… came back in and laid in bed thinking of all the things that could be wrong with it…

once it was light, I went out and unplugged and plugged it into the outlet…  was so happy when it started and it has been heating up ever since… it had gone down to 63 Celsius… really glad I didn’t just jump into it…

hoping to go out a bit later tonight, although rain has been coming down for the last while…

did a few chores around the house and spent some time on the computer printing out my food diary and blood sugar readings for the doctor’s appointment this week… also moved 1400 pictures from my phone to the computer…

had a wonderful surprise when I was watering plants…

  

found these two blooms on the peace lily…
