I love presents… I’ve always loved them which anyone who knows me knows, lol… George would always be bringing them home…

yesterday I received the beautiful bouquet of white hydrangeas and purple mums…

today I got two presents…

a friend gave me a gorgeous scarf…

it was from she and her sister to thank me for something I had given them, which they are both enjoying…

the second was supper from my swimming buddy…

not sure what the official name was but it was a stew of chicken with chickpeas and potatoes and it was delicious…

it was perfect as I had struggled with a sad tummy all day and was wondering what I might make for dinner…

should have gone to Aquasize but just wasn’t up to it…

went out for a hot tub… it is plus 3 right now… bizarre for the third week in January… but lovely…

the final treat was to discover my solar dragonflies were lit for a few hours… they haven’t been on for a couple of months and I was thinking maybe they were broken…

this is a sure sign that the sun is shining longer and stronger every day and that it shone today… we have really been suffering from lack of sun this winter…

I really am blessed…

a nice warm day today…

before it was even light, I went out for a hot tub… lovely and quiet, although I had to wear a toque and a baseball cap because snow was coming down… didn’t see or hear one bird the whole time I was out…

loving my new Turkish towels…

warm and light and very absorbent…

when I went out to put the chemicals in the hot tub, I didn’t need so much as a sweater and listened to the dripping as the ice was melting… hopefully everything doesn’t ice over…

did a few chores around the house and forced myself to walk on the treadmill as I spent a good part of the day struggling with a stomach ache… it is finally gone…

and I walked for 35 minutes, yay…

had a very busy day today…

slept in until 8, and don’t think I stopped since then, until about an hour ago…

met the kids for breakfast at The Original Pancake House where I got to have my favourite chicken livers and potato pancakes… yum, can’t even remember the last time I had these…

from there we went shopping where I found two pairs of pants and a new scarf… we looked at chairs and treadmills… had our toes pedicured and I even got a dragonfly painted on one of mine…

finally, got this beautiful shot of the sky as we were getting into the car just before I dropped the kids off at the bus stop…

bought groceries, came home and unloaded all my purchases…

had leftover chicken livers for my supper, and napped for an hour… thinking about heading out for a hot tub…

sitting in the living room listening to Whitney Houston and writing my blog… haven’t been using the laptop but the kids helped me put my music on it tonight… Whitney was one of my Christmas presents…

this morning I spent quite some time upstairs on the desktop finding water lily pictures for the frames I bought the other day… happily I was able to find some that had gone missing, lol…

looking forward to getting them printed, framed and hung on the stairwell wall…

also need to choose a few for the upstairs hallway as Cyndi took a few pictures home with her for the new house…

had a hot tub, but didn’t stay out too long because one of the squirrels was in the neighbour’s tree and kept making the strangest sounds, almost like it had a cold, or was feeling sick… didn’t like the sound, so I came in, but I did enjoy the sunshine…

just before the kids arrived for our New Year’s dinner of steak and lobster, I took the decorations off the tree and put it away… the living room is back to normal although I haven’t taken the coloured balls out of the coffee table just yet…

just in from a very nice time in the hot tub…

now into the winter hot tub system… that means wearing my water boots and my Rona toque…

the water boots are great because I don’t have to put a towel on the steps which I used to do when I wore slippers out… winter temperatures make stepping on plastic in bare feet a bit painful, lol… I go out, climb in, climb out, and go back into the house… the toque keeps my ears warm… it is amazing how warm ears keep your whole body comfortable…

as I sat there, I could hear the slap of the puck on the ice at the Club, just over the creek, as the hockey players were taking shots on the rink…

the garage light came on and off as the wind blew across the sensor, but the dog next door didn’t come out… he barks a lot…

no helicopters or sirens which is always great…

feels like -14 so it wasn’t too cold and I stayed out for quite a while… lovely relaxing time…

really looking forward to one more day of work before 15 days to rest…

the weather has been absolutely silly lately…

Friday night we walked back from our Christmas party in shoes and with our jackets open…

yesterday when I went out, I wore a spring jacket with a vest and was perfectly warm…

took this picture out the window this morning…

it went to zero Celsius today…

when I had an early morning hot tub today I had to wear a baseball cap as it was misting/foggy, but lovely and warm… as I sat there, I could hear water dripping from the eaves…

silly, lol…

it was warm enough that we were able to pull out dead plants from a planter on the steps and put in the spiral tree…

it looks lovely when the snow covers it… gonna have to wait a while for that…

the swag is on the outside of the door and the silver snowflake wreath is on the inside… looks good…

ran around and did errands this morning…

one of them was to get the hot tub water tested… had a lovely conversation with the young woman who helped me… I was looking at some cute little things they were selling and asked if they ever went on sale and she said “oh, I can do something for you”… when she rang them up I saved over $10…

more and more I am asking if the merchants can do anything better with the price… many times they will, and the worst that can happen is they won’t, and I pay full price…

just as I was finishing up the grocery shopping, my daughter called and invited me to meet her and a friend for lunch…

we went to a place where I’d had a bad experience a few years ago…

happily the service and food were both much better… apparently they have improved with time… two years ago a manager followed me out of the restaurant to give me a gift card, as I had advised them, after paying the bill, how disappointing our experience had been… today I used that card to pay for my lunch…

stopped to pick up a bit of wine at the liquor store and was happy to see a Salvation Army kettle inside the store… my dad always made a donation whenever we passed one… George and I have also followed that practice, but as I don’t go out shopping near as much, I put a nice donation into the kettle which made them very pleased… my feeling is that if I can afford liquor I can afford a donation, lol… the staff person who helped me was excellent… she had good suggestions and even got me a white wine that was cold as I was planning to offer it to my guests within the hour…

came home and a friend dropped in with her friend and we had a lovely visit… she helped make a hook and hang the swag on the front door… looks beautiful…

spent some time working on a project and watching tv…

very productive day…

first thing this morning the sky was amazing…

it stopped me in my tracks and I spent a few minutes enjoying the moment…

before I left the house I added in the first of the chemicals to the hot tub as the temperature had finally reached the nineties…

on my way home I stopped in at Pet Traders to get an opinion on the pump in the fish tank… we’ve had the tank for at least twenty years… got some great assistance and came out of the store with a replacement pump, filters and a large container of fish food… and they were having a Black Friday sale so I saved 30% on everything…

when I got in I added the next chemical and had supper… after a nap I read the manual but felt a bit intimidated… think I’m going to wait for my son-in-law to help me put it in properly, lol…

now I’m heading out for a hot tub… haven’t had one in a couple of weeks… woo hoo…

yesterday there seemed to be lots of watery work…

had to pick up a new short hose in the morning so that I could empty the hot tub… also got more fish food…

took a couple of hours for the tub to drain and then had to use pliers to get the water running into the tub once the filter was changed… process was a tad cold…

thirty minutes and it was full again… now just waiting for it to get warmed up…

then I spent some time taking water out of the fish tank… once a third of it was out I added fresh water…

looking a lot better but I think it might be time for a new pump…
