tomorrow is my soup day…

seemed to have trouble deciding what to make… been thinking about it for at least a week and didn’t make a final decision until today…

had everything at home so didn’t have to run out to the store which was great because we’ve had a bit of snow and my shoveler hasn’t made it over just yet…

had a good time preparing… cooked up carrots, celery, onion and garlic… first time I’ve used this new purple pot, lol…

put in spices, broth and tomatoes and simmered it for a long time…

just finished using my purple immersion blender to complete it… once it cools down it will go into the fridge and be ready for tomorrow’s lunch…

this morning I took this picture of the fresh snow on the ground… the window acted like a mirror and so the living room was clear as well…

busy day and when I got home my grandson arrived to clear that snow…

he stayed for dinner and then headed home… on his way to the bus his dad turned up, on his way home from work, and gave him a ride… that made me happy because it is cold out there…

too chilly to hot tub and I am missing my time out there…

still searching for a good app to keep track of my blood sugar and what I have been eating… the ones I’ve looked at have very complicated food records so I will keep searching…

spent a very quiet last day of holidays…

lots of TV watching and napping…

did a few chores around the house and got supper ready for the kids…

my shoveler worked very hard when he arrived…

that driveway is a lot bigger when there is five inches of snow on the ground and it is minus 40 with the windchill…

all cleared now so I am able to exit the premises, lol…

guess that means I can get to work tomorrow…

this morning there was way more snow outside… everything was covered…

got a few great shots of the garden where the snow had made designs everywhere… couldn’t tell if it was the squirrel or bunny who left tracks in the snow…

when I opened the front door it was clear that a lot of snow had fallen overnight… my snow guy was busy today, but luckily I didn’t need to go anywhere, so could just look out and admire it…

spent time listening to neighbours’ with their snowblowers and shovels as they cleaned sidewalks and driveways…

de-cluttered a closet, put away Christmas ornaments and did some walking…

looked outside this morning and saw such beauty…

everything had been covered with a blanket of light fluffy snow…

luckily I didn’t need to leave home… always so much more beautiful if you don’t have to go out in it, lol…

this afternoon my grandson came over and shovelled the sidewalk, driveway and back path…

he did a good job and then came in for hot chocolate while we waited for his mom to pick him up, when she got off work…

a friend stopped by a few hours later and there was more snow on the ground… we went out for supper and while we were visiting the wind was blowing the snow around…

wonder what it is going to look like in the morning…

was up at 5:30 this morning and looked out the window to see a bunny wandering through the back yard…

Friday morning when I was putting out the garbage there was a bunny sitting in the middle of the back lane… spent a few moments watching until it moved into a yard…

got lots done… reorganized the laundry room by putting the dressers back… never did hear back from those foundation guys… did laundry and cleaned out the cabinets under the fish tank…

when I woke up this morning I heard scraping outside… couldn’t figure out what it was… once I know what the sound is, I can ignore it, but when I can’t figure it out it makes me a bit crazy…

once I got downstairs I checked out the hibiscus which has three flowers and lots of buds…

snow was on the ground again this morning… had to put my boots on… I go as long as possible wearing my sandals… even once I am wearing my boots I use my sandals at work… they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have…

after work I helped a friend download and learn a new computer program… great fun… whole process went very well… download was a piece of cake, and we were able to copy data into the program without any issues either… we entered new data and saved it easily… looks like it is going to be a great program…

tonight I am feeling cold and tired… going to climb into my pyjamas, get under the covers and get lots of sleep…

woke up to snow on the ground this morning…

when I went downstairs a red hibiscus was in full bloom and I could see the snow on the ground… reminded me of a poppy…

spent a good portion of the morning watching the Remembrance Day service from Ottawa…

remembering my mother and father and George’s father and their service to our country… neither my father or George’s ever talked about what they did…

my mom’s work involved removing or adjusting pictures of ships so that when they were published in newspapers anywhere in the world they wouldn’t be recognizable as a certain ship… she was heavily involved in having this statue designed and raised at the Legislative grounds… this picture was one I downloaded from the internet, and there was no information about who took it…

had a quiet day thinking of them and also George… his dad died just a few days before Remembrance Day which made the day very special for both of us…

been a long day… hard to get out of bed as I felt very tired…

on top of that it snowed today… thankfully it melted as it hit the ground…

usually we get our first snow on Halloween…

dark and overcast all day… bit of a downer…

really thought about putting the meat in the crockpot, although I wasn’t sure how long it would take so I decided not to…

when I got home I got the pot with my dinner in it all organized, but didn’t turn it on… still not sure of the new stove so I didn’t want to be worrying about whether the liquid might be evaporating and burning up…

after aquasize I put it on and then watched some tv while it was cooking…

should really have simmered a bit longer, but after an hour or so I had some and it was good…
