out for breakfast with Ron at the Assiniboine…

home for some computer discussion and then off for sushi with the girls…

traffic was crazy and we went to Safeway and the Liquor Store on our way home…

think there might have been MSG in the sushi because my head kind of exploded… took until about 7 before it abated:-(…

put together my offering for our BS gathering and got a pic…

had a lovely time with these friends as we visited, shared treats and thoughtful gifts…

what a lovely day… filled with wonderful memories…

was quite a day today… woke up to the moon shining over the neighbour’s house and I just had to take a few pictures while waiting for my ride…

spent the morning learning new things… some great financial templates and then a webinar on a system we use…

we had a wonderful pot luck at lunch time filled with great conversation…

I spent a good portion of the day teasing my colleagues about only having a few hours left before going on holiday… they took it pretty well…

for the pot luck I made crab mousse… it was from a Baton Cookbook that we produced when the girls were young… had a fun time the other day when I went through it looking for the recipe and seeing what we all ate back then… I was part of the group that designed, typed and laid out the cookbook, so lots of those memories came back too…

I put the mousse into a lovely star shaped dish I purchased last year instead of unmolding it so there wouldn’t be any stress trying to get it out in one piece… looked great with the slivered green onions on top and a few cranberries around it… was also pleased with the crackers which were shaped liked trees, snow people, bells and Santa… very festive, lol…

all in all a pretty great day…

tonight I spent another hour searching through the Christmas boxes trying to find the Advent calendar that Cyndi sent to me two years ago…

it is made of two muffin baking pans and twenty-four magnetic covers… I saw them in July when I was gathering items for the Champagne Bubble Party…

now I’ve been through everything twice and still can’t find it… last year she sent a package to the office and my colleagues filled all the spots and put on the covers… it was fun for them as well as for me…

I’ve now decided that I can use some small paper bags that she had used and were left from her business because apparently I am not going to find it, sigh…

did find some other Advent things and set them aside… have organized a few gifts but need to deal with quite a few more…

technology is also being a bit difficult as my desktop computer has died and I have to take the time to figure out how to print on the printer that was hooked up to the desktop…

a big job I have is to get the computer room tidied and organized… this will also help with being able to sort out the printer problem, lol…

trying hard not to let myself wallow in the sad place… a friend had told me that often year two is worse than year one, and that is what I seem to be experiencing…

for the last few days I’ve been trying to capture a picture of the moon with the star/planet that’s been hanging around it at night and in the morning…

I’ve done some research and tried out a few apps – tonight I was using Sky Map and SkyView Free – and one of them suggested it might be Jupiter…

online research was suggesting it might be a different planet in the morning, maybe Venus…

don’t know which it is but is is quite lovely…

on my way out to the hot tub tonight I had to go back and get my phone and take a few pictures… this one is about the best although the star/planet is not very bright…

maybe I will get up early tomorrow and use the tripod and see what I can capture…

had a busy day today…

got dropped off at work and dealt with a couple of technology issues that staff members were facing…

kids delivered my car to me just after noon with the right tires on (much prettier that the ugly winter rims, lol)… showed it off to a couple of people… that was fun…

our BS dinner reservation didn’t work out so emails flew through the airwaves as we tried to sort out an actual location, time and method of arriving at the chosen spot… many, many emails went back and forth, lol, but eventually a spot was chosen, time was decided on and rides were arranged for all…

prepared name tags (which went better than expected) for an event tomorrow morning and headed home in time to be picked up for the BS birthday dinner…

had just enough time to put things in the glove compartment and various other spots in the car so that it feels organized…

spent some great time this morning working with Styles in Word 2013… learned some tips and tricks on Wednesday when we had training, and I got the time to play with it a bit this morning with another colleague…

so much fun to work on creating a template that is going to save huge amounts of time in the future… I’ve worked with styles before but never really understood them, but I think I’ve seen the light and finally get it… woo hoo…

on top of that, I’ve been using a new app that I found on App of the Day… It is called Saver… helps keep track of expenses in a simple, easy to use format… you add in items as you purchase them and can take a photo of a receipt or type in a note… shows you how much you’ve spent in a number of categories…

I use my credit card to pay for everything and then pay it off at the end of each month… found this a helpful way to be mindful of where I am in my spending…

been a wonderful few days around the office… recently we upgraded our computers and software and were fortunate to have a trainer in to spend some one-on-one time with each staff person…

many thought they wouldn’t need all of the time allotted to them, but in the end everyone used every moment they had…

it was great fun listening as she moved from office to office… I would hear aha moments and little sighs of pleasure as each person learned better, easier, quicker ways to get their work done…

what I have learned about technology is that it is quite wonderful when we are able to use it at peak performance… if we are having trouble making things work then it doesn’t feel so helpful…

spending the time with the trainer has increased everyone’s productivity… I learned a few very useful tips and tricks and am looking forward to more improvements as we learn from one another…

today I spent some time researching Dragon Naturally Speaking and in the process downloaded a free app on my phone which works very well… I was able to read something and it went right into an email which I sent to myself… and then I was able to put it into a document…

something happened to my iPhone over the weekend… I traded in my Blackberry in October for an iPhone 5 and have really learned to love it… took a while to get used to the differences, but now I am definitely a convert…

but up until the weekend I could send a picture from my iPhone to my email address, add it to my pictures on the computer and then upload to my blog… since the weekend all the pictures are going right into the email and are no longer attachments and I can’t figure out what I did or how to save the picture that is in the email to my picture gallery…

this seems like a little thing, but it is making me a bit crazy…

I’ve googled and asked around and tried to remember what I might have done but nothing has fixed it so far… I know that I added one or two apps over the weekend but don’t think I changed anything in my settings…

I am quite a fan of technology… today after reading a great article on Pinterest I purchased camera + for my iPhone… have already spent some time with it and look forward to the things it can do…

I quite enjoy Pinterest, and seeing what people I follow are looking at, as well as what others are pinning… it can be just a little addictive, lol…

one of the things I do at work is provide a monthly Tech Tip for my colleagues… it is great fun to search out new little tidbits to share… often I learn them from a colleague… it always amazes me what tricks and shortcuts each of us know and use, and just assume that everyone else knows…

one that I particularly appreciate was demonstrated by a colleague a few months ago… it has to do with Facebook and adding links to a post… the trick makes the post look so much tidier, so I thought I would share it with you…

you write the post, and then add the hyperlink… wait just a few seconds and the hyperlink goes into the post, along with the actual picture and story…

now you can delete the hyperlink and only the picture and story remain… you can see how this tidies up the look of the post…  I do like things to be tidy…

can I just say that computers can make you crazy…

for three days now I haven’t been able to get to WordPress on my laptop…  now, I have access to the desktop computer, but unfortunately it doesn’t have any of my current pictures on it…

this has given me some lovely time going through older pictures and remembering things that happened, but it also has meant that it has taken much longer to write and post my blogs…

today at work, our scanner and fax wouldn’t work, because apparently MTS flicked a button last night which has caused problems for many, not just us…

the laptop is a whole other problem… I can’t get some sites open, but other sites open perfectly…

so I am heading downstairs to restart the router and see if that fixes the problem…  maybe the computers at work will be happy after a good night’s sleep, lol…
