spent some time at Rona on Saturday looking for just the right colour of paint for the bedroom…

brought home this paint chip and think it may have just the right colour…

I am often drawn to a colour by the name…

the one I am leaning towards is Angel’s Gaze… cool for a bedroom and has a slight pink tone…

for years the living room was painted a lovely pale pink which made it so welcoming and comfortable…

looking forward to the changes…

have been feeling stressed for the last few days… wasn’t until Facebook reminded me this morning that it has been five years and eight months since my beloved left me that I put two and two together…

had the worst sleep – or lack thereof – last night… was anxious and couldn’t settle down…

now that I know what the stressor is likely I can settle down… that’s what usually happens anyway…

finally had a hot tub this morning… been having some issues with the temperature dropping so plan to have someone out to give it a look… but this morning it was at just the correct temp…

had to climb through the snow to get there, lol…

at one point during the day the sun came out and shone brightly in the garden and I got this pic…

sun and shadow are so beautiful…

later on the sunset was lovely…

hoping for a better night’s sleep…

had a quiet Friday off… did very little until late in the afternoon when I prepped two recipes…

one was for a slightly adjusted version of calico beans… one of my favourite recipes which I haven’t made for a long time… mainly because it makes so much… this time I left out the pork and beans in the recipe, which really made it smaller and less sugary… got six portions from the recipe…

the second was Aloo Goni Masala… had a third for my dinner and packaged up two portions for meals this week… this was one of the ChefsPlate offerings… tasty…

rather nice to have meals prepped for lunch or supper for the week…

because I don’t like to freeze things, a few might make their way to the kids;-)…

fun peeking out the window today, whenever I walked by…

watched a big hot tub get installed in the neighbour’s yard…

yesterday I heard what was clearly the pad getting laid… and this morning I watched as they opened the fence, brought the tub in and then hooked everything up…. since then it has had the cover on as the water warms…

was out checking mine because the temperature has been dropping for days… been peeking at the temperature over the last week… it had gone down to 73 but this morning was up to 96…

called to arrange for a service call so this can get fixed, but haven’t heard back from them yet… will call again tomorrow…

wonderful start to my weekend…

dinner at Moxie’s with a dear young friend… they make a lovely lettuce wrap and I tried a kale and quinoa salad which was very tasty… even brought home a few leftovers…

happy to have a visit and enjoyed every minute…

two fun things today…

at lunch I got to enjoy this lovely little Hachez chocolate…

77% bitter it said… it was delicious…

on my drive home I spotted this licence plate…

I really like that one… and it reminded me that I don’t work this Friday…

one of these days maybe I will get a special plate of my own…

no time to walk on the treadmill this morning as I had to get the pumpkins in place on the steps and bring up a couple of inside pumpkins from the basement…

it was still dark, but sort of looked the same as they did this evening…

got a nice shot of the front of the house as I was leaving… the orange looks great with the purple and gray…

at the end of the street I stopped and got a picture of the stunning sky… happy that I was in a place where I could stop and take the picture…

often when I see one of these beauties there is nowhere to pull over and the shot doesn’t get taken…

I took my cape and hat to the office and on a break did a little walk about… a colleague got this picture which is just how I looked as I handed out treats tonight;-)…

had over thirty kids and almost ran out of goodies… excellent outcome…

happy halloween…

had dinner out last week… my daughter and I went to Promenade Cafe for supper before going to a volleyball game… it was a spur of the moment decision and we had a great meal…

chose the 4 course prix fixe menu for two… the food was beautifully plated and we divided each course as it arrived…

we were running a bit behind schedule so had to take the dessert to go… and then we ate it in the car after the game, lol… never did get a picture…

at the game took a picture of our feet… it was a bit icy and it was funny to see the variety… I was still wearing my sandals and she had a nice boot on one foot and a boot cast on the other… she can move pretty darn fast when she’s wearing the boot…

enjoyed the volleyball… they actually played four games, although only the first three counted…

great group of kids… and it has been fun to watch them improve year after year… hard to believe they are nearly finished school…

this afternoon when the kids came over, they brought their pumpkins… they are way bigger than mine, lol…

we had supper early and then got down to the business of carving…

this year we all scooped out the guts and seeds from the inside of the pumpkins… usually some people don’t want to get their fingers dirty…

went for simple designs this year as there were only three of us carving four pumpkins… great job by everyone…

they decided to leave the pumpkins here because they will all be out on Tuesday trick or treating…

works well for me because I haven’t brought out any of the Halloween decorations…

wrote this blog on carving pumpkins a few years ago and there are pictures of George working with the kids…

was thinking of him a lot as the younger boys and I worked away…

witch’s hat looks pretty cool…

on Thursday I ran across to the CityPlace Farmers Market looking to refresh my stash of Teamate loose tea…

I really love their Ginger Peach and often make it in the evening using my wonderful Wall left handed tea mug… but sometimes it feels like too much effort… I usually make tea in a thermos, take the bag out after it has steeped and then have it for the next while… I don’t want to use loose tea in my thermos as it would be very difficult to get it clean afterwards…

a friend mentioned they had suggested to the tea person that they should put it into teabags… what a brilliant idea…

as it happens I have tea bags from David’s Tea, so I filled a few and then put them back into the empty Teamate package…

this morning I used one of those bags…

worked perfectly… and way less work…

made me think of my beloved… our all time favourite tea was Apricot Ginger from Twinings… we were so sad when it was discontinued and we never did find a good replacement… until now…

I’ve spent the day watching figure skating… drinking my tea and remembering how my beloved would watch tv in the basement, particularly when I was watching skating, so he wouldn’t have to watch it, lol…

sure do miss him…
