what a lovely day… spent it in the garden…

began with a hot tub in the sunshine… used it the very first time thirteen years ago on Mother’s Day, so it seemed like an excellent way to start the day…

after breakfast, I raked up some of the leaves… well, it took a good portion of the day, as there were many reading breaks… it is a bit early, but after cleaning out the pond, I wasn’t too thrilled with all of the leaves blowing into it, lol… they went into a paper bag and I am hoping that any critters living in them will be able to escape from said bag…

even though there is no birdseed out, the white-throated sparrows have been singing all day, as they, the house sparrows and the Harris’s sparrow I spotted, wandered the freshly raked grass looking for goodies…

I was contemplating bringing out the goldfish, but think I will wait for some help catching them, lol…

there were numerous phone calls as well as texts reminding me of the special people in my life…

to top it all off, a bunny came and sat with me for about fifteen minutes…

we both had a relaxing time😊…

a few days ago, I spotted five flickers in the field… like the robins, they never got close enough so I could get them all in one picture…

then I went searching for what a group of them is called, and found this:

it is always a treat to see them in the Spring and Fall…

while they are searching the grass for their goodies they move very quickly so it can be difficult to get a good photo… this one was photobombed, lol…

it has been a long, but productive, day and the weather has been amazing, around 22 Celsius…

I brought out the pump for the pond, hooked it up to a different hose and used it to empty the water… it doesn’t take too long with the big hose…

thanks to a great idea that my grandson had last year, I used the wet vac to suck up leaves and debris from the bottom… eventually I put on my water shoes, climbed in and got the last bits out…

I attached the pump to the waterfall and placed all the rocks back to hide it, hoping that there wouldn’t be any leakage, lol…

then ran the hose across the garden and filled the pond up… it took just over an hour and I finally plugged in and turned the pump on…

and it worked;-)… with no leaks…

we also got the hammock out and assembled, put up three umbrellas, and moved two of the chairs for the back deck out from the shed…

spent the whole day outside… how blessed am I…

spent some time out in the garden…

moved the pieces of furniture that were on the back deck and used the grass blower to get rid of a good portion of the debris…

then I had to use the broom for a lot of it that was stuck in the cracks… mostly bunny droppings, lol…

the wet areas dried throughout the day and will be ready for furniture…

after that was done, I sat on the upper deck and read my book for an hour or so…

saw white-throated sparrows and a Swainson’s Thrush, as well as one of my bunny buddies…

this was the first time that I was able to only have the screen open for the entire day…

so happy

Sunday afternoon I spent at least fifteen minutes at the front window…

I had looked up from my reading and spotted something moving in the field across the creek…

when I got up to take a closer look, I saw a deer looking around for something to eat…

as I stood and watched, another one materialized and I watched the two of them go right into the yard of the last house…

even when a person and their dog walked past on this side of the creek, they kept munching away… they can blend right in to grass or bushes…

it was a surprise to see them here, and I am thinking the winter has been hard for them and food is scarce…

I took a few photos although they were still fairly far away, but what a treat to catch the moment…

it took me three days and a number of tools to get the lid off of this pail of fish food flakes…

I removed the plastic band around it and then tried to pry open the top…

no matter how I yanked and pulled, it would not open…

by that time I was out of food for the fish and was hoping my neighbour might turn up in their driveway and I could ask for help… no such luck…

desperate, I used a bottle opener and a butter knife and circled the top, one inch at a time…

finally I was able to pull it off;-)…

gave the fish some food and prepared to package it into small bags that hold as much as my small jar…

with breaks it took most of the day to get seventeen bags organized…

they will go into the freezer and come out one at a time as I need them…

whew, those big girl pants…

what a busy day…

this morning I was picked up and dropped off downtown at my dentist‘s office for a cleaning… I was early so I walked around a bit and got a few photos of the golden guy…

been a really long time since I was downtown…

from there we went to Superstore where I found a few dishes and a little Tradescantia Nanouk…

then I drove home, emptied out the car, and took Indi to get a bath…

seemed as though most of the city decided to do the same thing, lol… got there at 12:11, into the wash at 12:32 and was out by 12:51… I walked outside while the car was inside…

back home, had lunch, and then drove to an appointment… from there it was back to Superstore to collect my grandson and return home…

a lot of driving and it was fun to be behind the wheel…

but now I am tired, lol…
