wandered around the house looking for my monopod which my grandson gave me for Christmas a few years ago…
searched high and low and finally spotted it hanging right at the front door, lol…
I think it was pretending to be an umbrella, lol…
going to try it with my camera to see if it might be better than my tripod, lol…
although it doesn’t let the camera move at all…
we shall see…

set the den up for company and was able to accomplish it in a much simpler manner…
rather than bring out the sofa table and turn the couch, I was able to set it up so the bed could be closed, but left in the same spot… often we bring down a mattress to put on top of the pullout, but this is a shorter trip so decided not to do that… the only thing that came out was a small roller cabinet…
once you are in the room and close the door the bed opens up nicely…
but I didn’t think about leaving the room in the middle of the night 😳… luckily, she was able to slip through the space between the door and edge of the bed, lol…

many of my friends have, and use, trekking poles (sounds much better than walking sticks)…
since my knee issues, I’ve wondered whether it might be an idea to get some if I’m doing any amount of walking…
the physio has certainly helped my balance, but I decided to check the poles out…
I went to Diamond Athletic Medical Supplies and got a pair that are orange and they have little feet on them…
the person helping me figured out how long they need to be, so I have to remember that number on the side of them…
I’ve since marked the line with a sharpie, following a recommendation from a friend…
much easier than remembering, lol…

while we were at my friends’ cabin, I slept on a soft bed… I always bring a comforter and my own pillow, then just fold the comforter in half and treat it like a sleeping bag…
I realized after the first night that my back and knees didn’t hurt at all… and that kept up for the whole trip…
so, I decided to look for a topper for my mattress…
my daughter suggested I try using the thin mattress in the pullout couch… my housemate brought it upstairs and I got it onto the bed and put the sheets and covers over it…
after all that, it didn’t make a difference… so took it off and returned it to the den…
next we went looking for bed toppers…
they were rather expensive and made me wonder if I needed to replace the mattress, which is about twelve years old… when I saw my physio guy, he suggested most mattresses needed to be replaced after ten years…
so, we went shopping… in person and online… did you know that soft (or plush, to use the correct term) mattresses cost more than the 90% that are firm or medium firm😳…
we finally found a company that has been in business for over thirty years and make the mattresses right here in the city…
the person we spoke with, and bought from, was very knowledgeable and didn’t try to upsell us…
and it was ready and delivered in five days, so I could enjoy it (hopefully with happy knees and back)…
I also arranged for Mother Earth Recycling to pick up and reuse bits and pieces of the old mattress 🙂…
now I have a happy back and knees…

ran out and picked up sushi for supper last night…
usually we go to our favourite place or order from different places as they don’t deliver…
it was delicious and still hot… happy we went and picked it up…
we also did a great job of ordering as there were just two little rolls left over… often we over-order and have too many leftovers…
and really, sushi is not as good the second day😋…
a lovely treat…

got up early and went outside for a look at the lovely sky and my flowers…
the previous evening I’d noticed that one of the buds on a morning glory plant was getting ready to open…
I’ve been waiting for these ones as they are quite stunning but seem to take an extra long time to open…
sure enough it had opened to a beautiful flower… happily I took a few photos before going back inside and back to bed…
when I next got up it had just stopped raining so I went out to check on the bloom…
of course it was a little worse for wear after the rainfall…
so happy I went out early 😊…

it was a beautiful day, so I decided to do my exercises beside the pond…
when I rolled out the mat, the top end went into the water, so I had to wait for the mat to dry, lol…
what a treat to listen to the water falling and watch the sky and trees overhead while I went through the steps…
my housemate took a video, after I was done, of a few of each of the exercises…

I am so excited…
today I received a 2027 Chihuly calendar…
I have loved his work for many years and during a good portion of that time would have his calendar on my wall…
for the last few years I haven’t had one and have had a variety of bird ones…
I know I will enjoy this one when 2027 begins;-)…

had a dentist appointment the other day, and it included what I call everything…
that means x-rays, scaling, polishing, and an exam by my dentist…
my hygienist is amazing and does a great job of making the x-ray process as quick as possible because I am a gagger, sigh…
once we got through everything the dentist discussed putting a crown on one of my front teeth… it has been filled a few times, but the fillings never stay…
happily, she agreed to do nothing right now, but likely in October we will need to move forward with this…
hopefully, some portion of it will be covered by the new dental plan…

I’m so happy with how the plants are growing on the new arch…
the scarlet runner beans have been flowering for a while, but the actual beans have only just begun to appear…
the morning glories have now met up with the scarlet runners at the top of the arch…
it looks so nice from everywhere in the garden 😊…
