samosas…

on this seventh anniversary of losing my beloved, I started the day by going to Safeway and buying flowers and an orchid for work… flowers for the front of the office and some for my space…

was very happy that they had orchids because the last few times I’ve been there haven’t been any…

my beloved always bought me flowers and orchids, particularly in the winter which has often been a difficult time for me…

at noon, I ran out and picked up samosas to share for our lunch… this was something he would do every now and then… seemed like a lovely way to remember him and what made him so special…

it was a great meal, with salad, veggies, hummus, cheese and grapes added by my colleagues…

as it is Shrove Tuesday, pancakes were on the menu for supper and I made potato pancakes, a nod to the world’s best hash brown patties that he would make…

a good day with many lovely memories

tomorrow marks 7 years since my beloved left this earth…

Google tells me that it is 2,555 days since that day…

I’ve been remembering some of the fun things we did during those last weeks…

you would think after seven years it would get easier

but it doesn’t

this is the last picture I took with him… it was Sunday, March 4, 2012… we had taken a drive around the Park so I could get some photos of the beautiful hoarfrost… this tree is on the drive to the Park… he had to stop in the middle of the road so that I could get the shot I wanted;-)…

yesterday I ordered groceries from Save-On-Foods… I think, lol…

they were to be delivered today around noon…

got an email this morning, confirming they were coming and just before they were to arrive the driver called to be sure I was home…

had the coolest boxes to bring them in… I was so excited that I didn’t take any pictures, lol…

reviewed the list, showed some ID and away he went…

I put everything away and was pleased with the whole process…

a good option…

recently read something on Instagram that was a reminder for me…

someone I follow had a conversation with another person (whose name wasn’t provided) about motivation to get up in the morning, and their comment was:

…when you figure out what that something is that you love, and get to do it, you’re excited for what unfolds each day…

it struck a cord… I do love what I do… my purpose at work is to help everyone on the team be able to accomplish whatever they are working on in the simplest and easiest manner… maybe I’ve forgotten that…

and as it happened, I spent an hour this morning, once awake, considering an issue with our database and coming up with a simple workaround that will produce the outcome needed but cut back on the process to achieve that outcome… looking forward to getting to the office on Monday and trying it out;-)…

it is good to remember how lucky I am…

woke up early this morning and enjoyed some lovely sky-watching

saw the most interesting light pillar… not long ago many photographers in the province had noted multiple columns in the sky, so I was excited to have spotted it…

the moon was visible out my bedroom window… and then there was a lovely sunrise…

spectacular way to start the day…

today I went in search of tea… my all-time favourite one has been discontinued and I’ve been searching for a replacement…

I stopped in at the Farmers Market at City Place and talked with two different tea companies… going to pick up a sample next time from one, and got a few samples from the other…

I also went online and ordered my second favourite tea… and it was delivered to the office within a few hours…

lovely collection

will be filling some tea bags tomorrow…

yesterday I drove to and from work with a colleague…

carpooling is always more fun than driving on my own… I’ve carpooled with a number of people over the years… for years I rode with a good friend who worked close by… also with another colleague… and for many years my beloved drove me to and from work…

one of the best things is that I can take pictures, lol…

waited in the living room for my ride and got a photo of the very slow traffic on our way home…

at the end of the day I walked up the street in my heavy Canada Goose jacket, which kept me toasty warm… sadly the zipper on my usual Canada Goose jacket isn’t working properly so I’m wearing the heavier one…

looking forward to traveling with her tomorrow…

we always know when Spring is on the way when we get information about tulips and daffodils circulating around the office…

we always order, and get, the tulips first…

they are a fundraising campaign of the Lung Association

this is close to my heart as my dad lived his whole adult life with emphysema, a debilitating disease…

it is wonderful to see flowers everywhere in the office;-)…

yesterday my Fitbit went dark again, sigh…

I went ahead and hooked it up to the charger and held it for the requisite 14 seconds and it came back on… although it seemed to take forever to get completely charged…

then I emailed the person who had given me the directions on what to do, just to let them know that it had happened again…

tonight I received an email advising that they will replace the defective Charge 3…

have ordered it and it should arrive within a week… unfortunately it comes with a black band rather than the lovely purple one that mine came with…

once it arrives, I will just change to my band…

pleased with their service…

have decided that it needs to be Spring…

bought this cute little crocus plant and am enjoying watching the blooms open…

the sun is shining out there and it feels like Spring… in the house, lol…

except that the temperature is minus 34…

picked up a few Spring-y tops on Friday…

maybe if we imagine it enough, it will come sooner;-)…
