this morning, as I was reading in the garden, a small skunk darted under the gate from the back lane, along the sidewalk, and out to the driveway…
it was way too quick for a photo, yikes… I had smelled what I thought were coffee grounds when I woke up and wondered where the scent had come from… now I know…
reminded me of the time we were camping and a skunk sauntered through the campsite as we were sitting by the fire…
the girls jumped on top of the picnic table while I sat still as it wandered along under the table, by my feet, and then out of the site…
I thought if it was going to spray us, standing on the table wouldn’t help, lol…
this time I did go and close the garage door so if it came back it wouldn’t go in there…
I always put sweetener and evaporated milk in my tea… usually the can goes into the fridge, but yesterday I poured my evaporated milk into a container as the can had a dent from being dropped as it was brought up to the house, lol…
the container came from Atlanta when we were there in 2016 to see the Chihuly Exhibit… we went to a Farmers Market and I picked up a chocolate drink in it… it was tasty…
lovely to remember the fun we had;-)…
it also reminded me of our camping trips over the last few years… well, not last year…
keeping my milk in the jar saved spills in the cooler, not that that ever happened;-)…
fun to remember the history of items in the house…
my youngest grandson and I spent a few days together… it was lovely as we don’t get to spend the amount of one-on-one time that I have with the other boys…
we did a few chores around the garden and spent a great amount of time with the monarch butterflies…
we planned meals, watched the fish, birds and squirrels, and talked about life… he was even happy to take a selfie with me;-)…
we made stuffing muffins (chicken stuffing put into muffin pans), one of his favourites, lol… we had chicken and mashed potatoes for our supper to go along with the muffins… we made twice stuffed potatoes for our second supper and he reminded me to put in green onions as he likes the flavour they add to food now…
we watched the space station fly over from the hot tub…
we slept out on the decks… he thought it was a very funny thing to do, but got right into it, bringing out his comforter, a blanket and pillows;-)… I slept in the gravity chair, which wasn’t as comfortable as the lounger I normally use…
he played games with his friends on his phone and watched tv shows when it was too hot (and maybe boring) for him outside…
how wonderful it was for me to have these special moments with this young man;-)…
instead of putting out the big air mattress, I brought up the lounge chair, put two cushions on it, brought out a quilt, a throw and a pillow and settled down for the night…
the space station was going to be visible at 3:22 a.m. so it seemed like a good idea;-)…
I did wake up around 3, but the sky was covered in clouds so I went back to sleep and when I woke up this morning it was clear again…
as I lay there I could feel the squirrels running over the deck beside me, lol…
he cleaned the pump in the pond, but for some reason it wouldn’t start up… will have to get my son-in-law over to see if his magic fingers can get it going…
we went to Za Pizza Bistro for supper with some out-of-town family… first time I’ve been there and it was delicious… I was able to have a white sauce on mine, which I really enjoy, and the crust was thin and crispy… it was great fun choosing the exact toppings I wanted…
rain stopped around 6 this morning… it was still chilly, but dry, yay…
after breakfast we went out in the boat and spent the day on the water…
we saw a pelican, two deer and maybe a merganser… we fished and my son-in-law caught a couple and I caught one;-)…
it was calm when we took the boat out of the water, nothing like when we crossed the lake – both times – it was very rough…
we baked potatoes around the fire, had steak and mushrooms to go with them, and then for dessert I had a delicious s’more… others may have had more than one, lol… the current method of making them involves using cookies covered in chocolate and then putting a roasted marshmallow between them… much simpler that graham crackers and a piece of chocolate bar…
woke up at 6 to pouring rain… by 8 it was done and the sun came out, although it was windy… we spent the day on the water…
early morning water drops on the boat…
throughout the day we spotted many geese, a pileated woodpecker, two deer and a fawn, an eagle, maybe an American Three-Toed woodpecker, and one very large Jack fish which my son-in-law caught…
bacon, eggs and hash browns for breakfast and steak, baked potatoes and onions, with mushrooms for dinner… pretty fine eats;-)…
cool temperature-wise but a great day;-)…
the flowers were at the dock… the moss covered tree is at the campsite…
