had a great day…

started out with two beautiful blooms on the hibiscus…

got a lovely present… tasty chocolate and a cookbook… looks like there are a couple of recipes that I am going to need to try soon… they can all be made in 15 minutes…

took part in a video with my colleague… we laughed quite a bit…

and that was all before noon

now for a four day weekend;-)…

turned the calendar over on Monday and found this lovely picture…

on Sunday the kids caught most of the fish;, emptied, cleaned and filled the tank; and later in the evening I poured them into their condo…

we think there are still a few in the pond, although I haven’t spotted any when coming or going through the garden…

made me think of the year that George brought them in the first week of December and had to break the ice on the pond;-)…

Sunday marked nine years that I have been at my current work…

it is a great place to work and I have enjoyed being there since day one…

over the last few weeks I prepared thank you cards and ordered flowers…

they arrived on Monday morning… beautiful

it is always a treat to see how much everyone enjoys receiving a note and choosing a flower…

ordered enough so we could put a few at the front desk;-)…

Kings Florist do a great job and even sent a few extras… I sure am blessed

opened the door to the lovely scent of a freshly cleaned house…

what a gift that is to come home to…

they only come once a month but that works just fine for me… I usually leave a list of what spaces I want them to clean as they are only here for a limited time…

I think back to Ruth, who would spend three or four hours and clean every nook and cranny… she loved to clean and it was so obvious… polishing silver and washing the floors on her hands and knees were two of her specialties…

can always tell the cleaners have been when I walk into the bathroom and see the folded toilet paper;-)…

I’ve been thinking about September… it has been a good month for me… as a kid I always liked starting school… and as a parent I also enjoyed when the girls headed back to school….

I started with my current employment on September 30, 2009…

following an eight week time away with pancreatitis and gall bladder surgery, I returned to work on September 28, 2010…

after a second surgery and being away from work for ten weeks, I returned September 27, 2012…

hadn’t realized how close those dates were until Facebook reminded me of the above facts…

usually the weather is beautiful as the leaves slowly change colour… this year there’s been a lot more rain and temperatures have plummeted…

one of the things I miss is the fall drive that my beloved and I would often take to enjoy the colours…

happily for me the sun is peeking out of the clouds off and on today;-)…

after my appointment on Friday I walked over and checked out the True North Square…

it was drizzling at the time but I did have a quick walk through before stopping at the food truck and getting some empanadas and a single churro to take home for my supper…

the fountains looked nice and I am clearly going to have to walk over a few more times to see the display…

I hadn’t realized that it had just opened, which explained the cameras and people doing interviews, so I didn’t stay long, lol…

while I was waiting at various places today I heard a few different conversations…

a discussion took place on preparing for Thanksgiving… they were discussing the expense incurred to produce the meal for family and friends… one comment was about having to wait until the next payday to purchase some final items for the dinner… everyone was happy to be having the company and looking forward to the time together but commiserating about what a huge chunk of cash is required…

at another location heard about someone not having the funds to provide the meal they were hoping for…

I remember those days, living payday to payday and what a struggle it was…

reminded me of how blessed I am… my beloved left me in pretty good financial shape… I can’t go crazy but I don’t have to worry too much about the cost of my groceries…

later I watched a few older couples walking around the mall holding hands… still one of the things I miss most…

this afternoon I saw the specialist and he put more nitrogen on the spot on my face…

after the first treatment it took a few weeks and a very horrible black scab before it dropped off… I thought it was perfectly fine…

unfortunately it wasn’t according to the doctor…

there was no pain the first time but wow was there ever pain today…

my eye and cheek are swollen and hurt like the blazes…

but eventually the swelling will go down and the spot will be completely gone…

now I’m off to take an Advil…

this morning as I was brushing my teeth, I was thinking how the tube continues to produce toothpaste, even when I think it is completely empty…

it also reminded me of how I always thought my beloved was the one who left the tube messy…

after he died I was surprised to see that the tube wasn’t as pristine as I thought it would be…

just possibly I also was a messy toothpaste user, lol…

today is my daughter and son-in-law’s wedding anniversary

I remember what a great day it was, but also the weeks that led up to it…

the day went off without a hitch… our daughter looked amazing… picture taking was great fun… the sky was blue for their outdoor service… the limo stopped at Starbucks so they could get coffee… the reception was very classy and everyone had a wonderful time…

but just prior to that I had been in the hospital for six weeks, followed by weeks at home with a drainage tube which was removed just a few days before the wedding…

that was probably the sickest I have ever been and recovery was slow and difficult…

I also remember what a gem my beloved was as he visited me in the hospital and brought me daily pictures of the morning glories as they bloomed…

he took such good care of me, always

I can only wish that kind of love for my children as they move forward in their life together…
