have arrived at the kids’ house for Christmas Eve

took a while to bring in all the goodies and get them under the tree

then there was gingerbread house decorating… this year I found a house that was already put together… much better…

finally, we ate four million appetizers and soon we will be going to bed…

and hope that Santa finds us…

this morning my Advent treat was a pair of fuzzy socks with grips on the bottom…

which was quite funny as I almost slipped as I came down the stairs in my slippers…

a bit later my Facebook memories showed a few of my Advent treats over the last few years on this day…

they included a pair of socks; a tea towel (which I just put over the handle on the stove yesterday); and a dragonfly that is currently perched on one of the trees…

pretty fine treats;-)…

and so the ongoing saga of the hot tub continues…

yesterday I spoke with the technician from Krevco… we were on the phone for nearly half an hour… we went over all his previous ideas, a few times… then he asked me to send him pictures of the readout a few times over the next few days…

the temperature in the hot tub continues to jump between 104 and somewhere in the 80s… no pattern… I’ve been recording the temperature for days and had sent the chart to them last week…

after our very long conversation my daughter and I went out for our evening hot tub and as we were opening the cover, one of the arms snapped

haven’t heard back from the technician… so on top of the temperature fluctuations not sure I can open the tub on my own, sigh…

hope that Krevco is open next week;-(…

had a holiday celebration with my buddies today…

as I was waiting for my ride, went out and took a few pictures of the greenery and actually cut off the hangers from two of them… been meaning to do that for ages and used the new clippers I picked up yesterday…

we had a wonderful lunch at Cafe Dario… I had the Caribbean lobster tail grilled and smothered with compound butter… yum… others had the beef, duck and chicken… all were delicious…

it was busy and fairly loud but by the time we were finished eating it had emptied out and we traded gifts before heading to our various activities…

here’s the collection that I brought home…

sure am blessed with my friends and treats and special moments

we were busy today…

slept in a bit and I walked to the “A” and met the kids there for breakfast… one of my son-in-law’s favourite places to eat…

it was lovely to get outside for some exercise… after we ate it was off to the youngest grandson’s Christmas concert… he’d been sick but did a great job anyway…

from there we drove downtown to do some local shopping… picked up some chocolate postcards at Little Sister Coffee Maker, a couple of kitchen goodies from The Happy Cooker and cake from Baked Expectations

didn’t even get a shot of the slices of cake we picked up, lol…

then it was over to Decadence Chocolates on Sherbrook… had some fun there as we enjoyed complimentary hot chocolate…

last stop was Poco Inspired where we discovered beads, findings, tools, and stones – my personal favourite…

made me think of the Johnny Cash song “I’ve been everywhere”… although I might change the next few words, lol…

did a few jobs around the house this morning and then went out for lunch with my son-in-law…

caught him mid-bite… this would make my colleagues laugh as I am always taking pictures of them eating lunch with their mouths open, lol…

we popped into Costco and picked up a few last minute things… always happy to shop there with him because I usually pick up heavy items…

after he left I spent some time admiring the amaryllis… over the last number of weeks I’ve taken quite a few pictures as it has grown

a nap, and then, I picked my kids up at the base and brought them home;-)…

happy holidays…

here’s how my evening has gone…

just after four thirty I climbed into the car to head home for my two week vacation… woo hoo…

for my supper I had raisin scones with melted cheese and a side of radishes… the scones were a gift from a colleague… I love them and am always thrilled when she brings them to work for any occasion… what a lovely treat…

to finish my evening I had some of my Ginger Peach Teamate with almonds and the last bit of hummingbird chocolate maker’s 85% Hispaniola…

pretty excellent start to my vacation…

what a productive day…

started out with a few photos which demonstrate that a teenager was in the house…

there was stuff everywhere… a hat and headphones on the table in the living room… his gym bag by the fish tank… a bag of presents in a chair… didn’t get shots of the messed up bed and clothes in the basement, lol…

but he accomplished so much on our project… it had been difficult to walk into the computer room… I may have a slight problem with saving empty boxes, lol… and other stuff…

the top picture is from our family photo shoot in October taken by Jamie Noordman Photography… we both had our phones out and he was Snapchating with his friends… clearly we were both having fun…

today we worked well as a team… he dragged things out and I sorted and distributed stuff into various categories… at one point the hallway was filled with bags and boxes… we will need another day to finish, but it is so much better in there…

things were dropped at the Civic Centre recycling, Value Village and put into the garbage…

we popped out, delivered a few things and picked up a final joint present…

a wonderful Christmas present, I gotta say…

bit of an odd day… woke up at 6:15, made a thermos of tea and went back to bed… it had snowed a bit in the night…

at 7:30 the power went off and didn’t come back on for two hours… happy to have the warm tea as the temperature in the house dropped to 69 Celcius…

it is always so quiet when the power is off… and with the fresh blanket of snow it felt very cozy… particularly because I didn’t have to go out…

once the power was back on I spent some time working on a project and later met up with my daughter and eldest grandson at the mall… oh my… what was I thinking

cars and people everywhere… good news is that I now have just about everything I need…

stopped to pick up A & W teen burgers, onion rings and fries and then home… teen burgers from A & W were a treat we would sometimes have on our way home from work… nice to enjoy them with my grandson who is spending the night and helping me with some chores around the house tomorrow…

a number of people say he looks just like my beloved;-)…

a few days ago I walked over to TheForks to meet a dear friend for lunch…

on my way I got this shot of the CanadianMuseum for Human Rights… it is such a beautiful building… just yesterday I renewed my membership

it was a lovely day but a bit cold… I was wearing these amazing purple leather gloves which a friend gave me a few years ago… they look great but are not tremendously warm… so eventually I pulled the sleeves down over my fingers to keep them toasty…

looked just like my eight year old grandson, lol…
