there were sparkles everywhere today…

my chair at work, the floor, the seat of the car… even my face, I think… too funny… but I really like the t-shirt… enjoyed spotting the places where the sparkles were and spending a moment giggling to myself…

ate at the new Japanese restaurant across the street from work… at lunch they have a few bento boxes to choose from, as well as the usual sushi options…

lunch was delicious and the visit with my friend was wonderful, as always…

so happy to have special moments like these and be able to take the time to savour them…

had a lovely stroll home after supper with my swimming buddy… following our aquasize class we went out for fish and chips

it was a beautiful evening so I decided to walk home…

nearly home I met up with this cute bunny

at first he thought if he didn’t move I couldn’t see him… then we walked nearly a block together…

street is looking beautiful as the trees have leafed out…

was recently at a hospital and noticed these signs

was thinking back to the various hospitals I’ve been at over the years…

when George was in St. Boniface Hospital for his heart surgery we were able to use our cell phones in his room but not in the halls of that ward as the phones might affect pacemakers…

a few years later, when I was there, I could have my phone in the room without a problem… was able to use my phone at HSC a few years back as well…

now there isn’t anything saying you can’t use your phone but they don’t want you to take pictures of others… what are people doing that the hospitals need to have these signs all over… yikes…

today people use their phones to keep family and friends informed about how the patient is doing, without having to leave them to find a spot inside or outside of the hospital where they are allowed to use their phones…

while I was there I found my way to a bathroom, made it outside, and back to the room without getting lost… I am notorious for not being able to find my way around in unfamiliar places, lol…

had a wonderful treat…

for Mother’s Day my Winnipeg kids gave me a SkipTheDishes gift certificate…

tonight I ordered the goat thali platter from Clay Oven… it is one of my favourite meals…

decided to eat the whole piece of naan bread and leave the rice and potatoes till tomorrow… usually I will eat half of it but often the remaining piece will be too dried out to eat the next day…

also ordered a few other items for my lunch… really getting my spice/heat quotient up…

and still had some money left on the card

woo hoo…

thank goodness I had a reminder on my phone… nearly forgot to put out two boxes of pass me over items on the steps…

and then, on my way home, came across the ice cream cart…

still odd to hear the distinctive music as it circles the neighbourhood… for many years they were not allowed in our area…

ended the day with my Monday night buddies as we shared the craziness that was last week and the busyness that is going to happen over the next few months…

life seems full always

been a full, but good Mother’s Day…

up fairly early, had breakfast and headed over to the Park to check out the daffodils and tulips…

there were lots of tulips blooming and I’m glad I went today because by next weekend they may be finished…

had a few minutes on our bench while I chatted with my Ottawa girl…

early morning is the best time to wander through the Gardens on the weekend because it is still quiet

home and then out to pick up groceries and flowers – tulips, then back for lunch and a nap…

sat out in the garden until the kids came… they mowed and whipper snipped and moved the fish from their condo to their summer residence…

always an exciting process..

excellent dinner cooked on Barbie the BBQ, lol…

then some online retail therapy with my Winnipeg daughter… ordered a purple metal bracelet for my Fitbit…

planning a hot tub a bit later, but now spending a few minutes by the pond before heading in…

started my day with Pancake House chicken livers, bacon and potato pancakes via SkipTheDishes… one of my favourite meals and I am so happy that I can just pick up my phone and order using the app…

they arrived within twenty minutes of ordering, were hot and delicious…. my own little Mother’s Day treat

was waiting for my new BBQ to arrive so had to spend some time watching a few of my PVRed shows, lol… was a bit worried it might not arrive at all… when I ordered it last Saturday they advised they would put it together on Tuesday and then deliver it… called yesterday and they thought it should be delivered today…

pulled a few weeds in the driveway and cleaned up the clematis while waiting for the delivery truck… it arrived and they brought the BBQ into the yard… so cute…

and the sides fold down so it barely takes any room in the garage…

went wild and crazy and planted some dahlia tubers and included some of the morning glories that I started a few weeks ago… the planter will stay in the kitchen until it gets a bit warmer out…

then I’ll add the trellis once it goes outside… considering putting some of the morning glories in the planters that go around the deck… will need to put some filament up for them to climb…  just not sure they will get enough sunlight…

lots of yellow flowers in the front yard… kind of pretty but my beloved would not be pleased…

maybe when the kids are here tomorrow they can do something about them…

got a few things done, chatted with a neighbour and rested…

another great day… life is good…

been an absolutely crazy busy week…

Monday night my friends helped stuff nametags for an event on Tuesday…

Tuesday I brought the snack for our staff meeting… had great fun the night before finding treats that everyone could enjoy… cheese and crackers, nuts and fruit made for a tasty start to the meeting, lol…

then there were the flowers… picked up tulips for the event… have learned a few tricks to help transport flowers from home… they ride in the back seat in a reusable grocery bag, with the seatbelt on, which keeps them from falling over on the trip… used them at the staff meeting before they headed over to the venue… they looked great simply put into tall vases, and came back to the office to brighten our space afterwards…

more food was involved when I prepared soup for our Souper Thursday…

rarely does it happen that we would have two events at work that one of us would be responsible for, lol… just my luck that I got so many things to do this week…

more flowers to celebrate a colleague’s birthday…

and finally today a gorgeous bouquet to take pictures of as someone picked up a treat for a family friend…

very happy it is Friday… gonna do lots of relaxing on the weekend…

last night I made soup for our Souper Thursday lunch…

was really simple… had picked up two Tortilla Soup Fiesta mixes from The Stak Co...

dumped the two packages into a pot and added water…

cooked it on top of the stove for a couple of hours… added canned tomatoes and it was done

prepared toppings of shredded cheese, sour cream, green onions, cilantro, avocado and broke up some tortillas…

everyone in the club brings additional items to round out the meal… so we had salad, tomatoes and three types of bread – we haven’t had bread for the last few times and apparently we were all missing it…

delicious and enjoyable… always enjoy time sitting down to a meal together amongst the busyness…

things can change in the blink of an eye

recently a number of women in my circles have been dealing with very difficult situations… loss of parents, illness of partners and children, employment concerns…

often there is little to do besides sending positive energy and love over the airwaves… spending time holding them in thought and prayer feels like a good use of time…

good to remember to smell the roses, or in this case, tulips…
