early morning hot tubs are becoming a Sunday pattern…

this morning I took out my phone and took a few pictures right from the tub…

IMG_8997.JPGit was lovely… for the first five minutes the jets weren’t going so I could hear the quiet and watch the squirrel make his rounds to collect peanuts…

ran out to do a few errands and picked up a pastry for my lunch… it was delicious…

IMG_8999.JPGthe sky was beautiful…

IMG_8998.JPGsun shone for the majority of the day although the clouds filled the sky in the early evening but it didn’t rain, so that was good…

a young friend stopped by so that I could get some baby snuggles… she has twins, but only brought the little guy… the little girl had gone out with her daddy…

IMG_9001.JPGnothing like baby snuggles to make your day… it was great fun to watch the boys take turns holding him as well…

good times…

spent my Saturday in my new normal… a quiet day to recharge my batteries…

a few chores – watering the plants, putting chemicals in the hot tub, laundry… chatting with my girls on the phone or by text…

the garden needs work before the weather changes, but this Fall I am not motivated at all to get the work done…

George loved to putter around on Saturdays… cleaning the garage, working in the garden… going for bike rides… he liked TV as well…

watched some skating and a few cooking shows…

made coleslaw and used up a few frozen wieners which I cooked with brussel sprouts and a baked potato…

IMG_8973.JPG pleased that I’ve been using up things in the freezer…

used to run around and do shopping and errands and use Sunday to relax…

missing my beloved… don’t really love my new normal

this morning as I was taking out the garbage and recycling to the lane, the pond sounded funny… walked over and realized the strange sound was the pump sucking air… couldn’t really see it because it was still very dark, but I unplugged it to be sure it didn’t burn out…

tonight I took a picture of the pond…

IMG_8966-1.JPGhard to tell how low the water is with all the leaves in it, but it is low… also got a shot of these flowers which just keep blooming

IMG_8967-0.JPGwas reminded again today that our lives can change in the blink of an eye…

hug those you care about… tell them you love them… take the time to do what you want to do…

every moment is precious… don’t waste a single one…

beautiful day… sunny and plus 18 Celsius… what a treat…

luckily I had two meetings away from the office, so got an opportunity to be outside… another treat…

was picked up by my daughter and we seemed to fly to my grandson’s volleyball game… it was a few minutes away from where my doctor’s appointment was…

IMG_8956.JPGgreat to see him play… third treat of the day…

after the appointment I was in a cab and on my way home by 6:20 pm…

made a bit of supper, tidied the kitchen and vegged in front of the TV…

wonderful day…

today’s events in Ottawa are a reminder that we never know what is going to take place…

felt disconnected all day…

need to pay attention to what is going on around me and enjoy each special piece of life that comes along… stop and smell the roses…

got dropped off by the high school and had a good walk home and took the time to enjoy that walk…

IMG_8946.JPGa few leaves are still on some trees and these ones were a lovely colour…

IMG_8948.JPGmany of the trees are dressing as skeletons for Halloween…

IMG_8949.JPGthe sky had been overcast all day and it seemed to mirror my feelings… not long after I got home it started to rain and it has continued for quite a while…

tonight we celebrated one of our birthdays at our BS gathering…

the birthday person chooses what we will do, and/or where we will go…

we are way behind in our celebrating… we still have two more to catch up on before the next birthday, which is in January, lol…

the birthday woman advised she would like to have a cheese fondue… we decided to meet a little earlier than usual and assigned the needed components…

fresh home-made bread and great wine, salad, cheese, apples, pears and a fondue pot…

great times and conversation…

coffee, tea and chocolate mint Girl Guide cookies with more chat, finished our wonderful celebration…

IMG_8923.JPGwe even found a date for the next birthday celebration… seemed way too easy to find one that worked for everyone…

how blessed I am to have such an amazing and caring group of women in my life…

early this morning I went out for a hot tub… the sun was brilliant… made me smile

IMG_8913-0.JPGhard to tell, but there is a bit of frost in this picture so I wore sandals…

IMG_8914-2.JPGlater I headed over to the kids’ place… we were spending some time having family pictures done… we went to a number of places and walked a long way, and there were many smiles…

IMG_8917.JPGlooking forward to seeing the finished pics…

here’s one of Crystal and I on a warehouse ledge…

IMG_8915.JPGJeff may have broken something getting me up and then down from the spot…

watched a soccer practice for one of the boys and then headed home… drove over the Disraeli both ways… a big girl pants moment for me as I really dislike that bridge…

IMG_8918-1.JPGvery excited when I walked into the yard and saw the water falling beautifully… this is strange because usually within a few hours of my pond guy being here the water starts to get clumpy, with algae obstructing the flow…maybe it is too cold for algae, lol…

had a great sleep last night and as I was heading downstairs saw this lovely view outside

IMG_8886.JPGthe leaves were a beautiful shade of yellow

spent most of the day resting but I did work on some chicken soup…

IMG_8889.JPGnot quite done yet…

this afternoon my pond guy came by and put in a new pump

IMG_8888.JPGit looks good, so far… we’ve decided to take out the uv filter and try putting a skimmer in beside the pond to collect algae and other debris… the thought is that it will be outside of the pond where I can get to it easily… this likely won’t happen until the spring… the fish are still happy outside but soon they will need to come in to their winter condo…

while out there I got a few pictures of some flowers that are still hanging on.. sadly we’ve already had a few frosts…

IMG_8887.JPGno sun today, maybe tomorrow…

teeth…

thank goodness it is Friday…

had things on early three mornings in a row… today it was the dentist…

I do not like visiting the dentist, but I have gone every three to six months for the last 35 years… I had a few very bad experiences in my early twenties and made the decision to face my fear of dentists and be sure to get regular check-ups so I wouldn’t have to deal with any big issues…

lucky for me, my teeth are good, so I haven’t had too many problems…

unlike George… I think his teeth were made of marshmallow… he had at least two or three fillings in each of the teeth he had left… we do think we sent his dentist on a number of vacations over the years…

my insurance coverage from George’s work ran out in March and the new plan I was finally able to get doesn’t include dental… mainly because it was going to cost an additional hundred dollars a month and it seemed more sensible to just pay for my check-ups…

was quite worried that my front tooth might need a crown so was very happy to hear that the problem was staining from tea… hurray:-)…

unfortunately she did find a small cavity so I have to go back in a couple of weeks… I know she isn’t going to hurt me, but I will still be grasping the arms of the chair through the entire procedure…

have been wearing a mouth guard for a few years and will continue to, as it helps keep my teeth from grinding and wearing down the enamel…

IMG_8864.JPGhow lucky I am to have access to good dental care…
