started the day very early and the moon was bright…

IMG_8857-0.JPGtonight as I was heading to aquasize I took this shot of the sky… very nice…

IMG_8858.JPGwas very careful not to do any twisting there after last week… from Friday to Sunday my back was in bad shape… if I sat for any length of time I could barely walk… laying down helped a bit but then when I got up it would still bother me… luckily I was able to take it easy and by Sunday evening it was much better…

so I was extra careful tonight to not twist…

hope it works out okay… guess I will see tomorrow

got dropped off a little further from home than normal…

so I had a lovely walk in the sunshine…not sure what the temperature was, but right now it is 15 Celsius…

IMG_8843.JPGmany of the trees on the street are nearly bare

IMG_8847.JPGthe tree next door still has some leaves on it…

IMG_8845.JPGit is the one I see from the hot tub…

IMG_8844.JPGsome of the bushes still have quite a few leaves… this one had lots of birds flitting in and out… I guess they can still hide here…

spent some time in the hot tub, watching the stars through the trees… now to bed…

since I was of age, I have voted in every election… and I have done it each and every time with my beloved

we have an election next Wednesday… first one since George died…

I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it through the process, so I decided to do something different…

tonight when I got home from work, I walked over to the community club to vote in the Advance Poll… never done that before…

advised the man who put the ballots into the counting machine that I wanted to take a picture of the ballot as it went in…

IMG_8821.JPGhe was happy to take the picture and was rather excited that someone wanted their picture taken as they voted, lol…

we are so lucky to live in a country where we have the freedom to vote… sad that so many people don’t take advantage of it…

for the last few days I’ve been preparing for tonight’s dinner…

this year I made two new things… the first was the dressing that my grandson wanted… apparently there wasn’t enough sausage in it so he didn’t like it…

the second was a turnip puff… a friend wrote about it in a blog and it sounded interesting so I checked it out on Pinterest, liked the look of it, and made some… two of us really liked it, the other not so much… my mom and dad felt that gravy just wasn’t great without turnip water in it, so I’ve cooked turnips as part of our celebration dinners for at least thirty years…

had a good time setting the table… included plates and bowls from our elders…

IMG_8816-1.JPGduring dinner we talked about the various items and where they came from…

had also put one of the candelabras from Crystal and Jeff’s wedding on the table… during dinner we thought of people who were missing – those who’ve moved on from this world and those who are just not close by – and we lit the candles as we thought of them…

before dinner the boys went out to find some leaves to go on the plate with the pumpkin… then they spent some time tree climbing…

IMG_8819.JPGlovely day and great dinner… so much to be thankful for…

dressing…

when I was at the kids’ place on Friday my youngest grandson gave me a recipe for dressing that he wanted me to make for Thanksgiving dinner…

this is very odd because he doesn’t eat dressing, or much else, unless it is Caesar salad and baked potatoes…

they had all worked on this recipe at daycare and he ate three plates full of it… he asked them to write down the recipe and they also sent a note saying how much he liked it…

how could I not make it…

IMG_8773.JPGran out and picked up the last few things I needed, including the sausage for the special dressing…

I did laugh because while he was telling me about the recipe my daughter was shaking her head no the entire time… she loves my dressing and has never liked when I have made different versions… luckily the version he was wanting is made as a casserole

so, two types of stuffing made, potatoes, turnips and cauliflower cut and ready…

still need to finish setting the table…

thanks…

spent a quiet day doing things around the house…

realized again how blessed I am… able to do whatever I want…

IMG_8765.JPGenjoying the beautiful flowers as I was working on the dining room table for Monday’s dinner…

able to have all the food we want for our Thanksgiving celebration… dug out a chicken from the freezer, got turnip, potatoes and squash in the last few days…

have the time and items to make the table special… pulled out dishes that had belonged to our elders to bring them to the dinner…

tonight I made myself a steak… cooked it in a frying pan with help from Gordon Ramsey… well a video online, lol… it was delicious…

IMG_8766.JPGit is good to take the time for thanks

day started out with a bright spot…

IMG_8755.JPGthat sweet hibiscus with blooms… great way to start the day…

not such a bright spot when I headed outside and saw windows covered with frost

IMG_8756.JPGbut when I got out of the car at the office and looked up, saw a lovely moon…

IMG_8757.JPGbright spot number three was getting to see my grandsons and have dinner with them and their parents… after dinner my son-in-law brought me home, on his way to work, and I had to take a picture of the beautiful sky…

IMG_8758.JPGgreat day…

woke up this morning and got dressed with the appropriate clothes for yoga

downstairs I looked at all the items for the soup and realized it was Thursday, not Friday… a bit disappointing…

soup was great… everyone enjoyed it and there is a bit left to have after yoga tomorrow…

after work had a twenty minute nap and got ready for aquasize

was completely exhausted when we finished… not good to leave such a long period between classes…

surprise…

had a wonderful surprise this morning when I came downstairs…

IMG_8736.JPGthe hibiscus was blooming… often when you bring a plant indoors it will die back, so this was quite wonderful…

looked out the window and watched the moon… the eclipse had finished earlier and the moon was no longer red, but it sure was big… the picture doesn’t do it justice, lol…

IMG_8739.JPGonce I got home from work I jumped in the car and raced to the grocery store… I am on for soup tomorrow and am doing a recipe I haven’t tried before, and because I didn’t feel great last night I didn’t get the shopping done… once home I peeled carrots and yams and tossed everything into a soup pot and got cooking…

IMG_8737.JPGthe really funny part was that this was a crockpot recipe but I didn’t have time to use the crockpot to cook it…

surprisingly it isn’t as orange as expected because I got yams instead of sweet potatoes and they were white inside…

IMG_8738.JPGthink it tastes okay…

guess we will know for sure tomorrow…

waiting…

Tags

seems like I’ve done a lot of waiting for the last while…

waited for my ear infection to go away… and to be finished with those drops, euwwwww…

waiting for the pond to be working properly… my pond guy replaced the pump with a smaller version as the manufacturer felt the uv filter was causing a problem and they needed a smaller pump… that was a week ago Saturday… last Wednesday I noticed that the water was barely running and on Thursday morning turned off the pump as there was barely a trickle… hoping my guy gets here before it freezes… looks like we will still be dealing with this in the spring…

IMG_8541.JPGwaiting to hear from the foundation people… I understood they were planning to do the work on my foundation the first week of October, so I am wondering when I will hear from them… particularly as the weather is getting colder every day… and there has even been a suggestion that we might be getting flurries

waiting for the stove to have its new top and the fridge to be in the right space and have all the doors on, lol… think my boys will be coming by one evening this week to finish this up…

going to focus on these beautiful flowers instead of all that waiting stuff…
