this morning the sky was absolutely beautiful… took many pictures on the way to work… it was mesmerizing…

a bit later in the morning I ran across the street to pick up some milk and cream for our coffee… as I was walking back I was compelled to take a picture of Emptyful… could see some great reflections in the new police building…

ended the day with a shot of another lovely sky as we drove home…

I stopped for a haircut and then walked home in the crisp evening air… made it home just before the light went…

not long after we got to the office this morning I heard sirens and two fire trucks pulled up beside our building…

they sat there with lights flashing for a long time…

my daughter called to tell us they had evacuated the hotel that is about a block away from our building as there was a suspicious parcel and the bomb squad was on the way…

the streets were blocked all around us as traffic was re-routed through morning rush hour… we kept working and staff dribbled in as they made it through the snarled streets…

eventually the fire trucks left and the streets were opened… it was after lunch before people were able to return to the hotel…

we laughed and joked about it, but it was a dramatic reminder of how a day can change and things can turn upside down in a flash…

spending time with these amazing colleagues is also a reminder of what a blessed life I lead…

a wonderful family, lifelong friends, and colleagues who make me want to go to work every morning…

have enjoyed a couple of lovely treats in the last few days…

while we were on our trip to and from Carberry we stopped at the Robin’s Nest Cafe where we picked up some delicious battered mushrooms…

today I took leftovers from our Saturday night dinner for my lunch… but one of my colleagues made me a toasted salmon sandwich with avocado and apple…

look up, look out…

that was today’s motto as I took a drive to Carberry with my friend…

weather was perfect and there was lots of conversation and snacking going on…

IMG_9147.JPGwe were astonished at the waterline, visible on the trees for miles, from the flooding this past summer…

IMG_9148.JPGthere were wonderful cloud formations all the way along… just caught the sunset in the rear view mirror…

IMG_9150.JPGfinally enjoyed these beautiful pink tinged clouds… just before the dark took over the sky… last night we changed from Central Daylight to Central Standard time so it got dark an hour earlier than the night before… of course it is lighter when we get up…

last night when the boys came by after going out for Halloween, Jeff put the new top on the stove…

IMG_9132.JPGof course there were no directions, but he figured it out and it now looks great and works perfectly…

they came over late this afternoon and he and the boys started catching the fish to bring them into their winter condo…

IMG_9130.JPGhe worked for an hour and a half… the boys lasted about twenty minutes, lol…

IMG_9131.JPGthe last few fish didn’t want to be caught, even though there was ice on the top of the pond, but he wasn’t giving up…

barely slept last night and my cold seems to be a bit worse so I decided to stay home… slept for most of the day…

put up the last few decorations in between and took a few pictures…

IMG_9109.JPGfinally got dressed around 4:30… put on my new velour cape and my witch hat from a few years ago… kids started coming about 5:45… by 6:30 there weren’t any more… most of them commented on the candies being in the hand:-)…

the little boys came about 7:30 and we got a picture together, thanks to daddy…

this morning I prepared for an afternoon memorial service as I got dressed… chose a purple top and a special scarf so that I could leave right from the office…

saw these geese as we were driving…

today the sky went from dark and filled with clouds, to sunny and clear as we drove home…

after supper I prepared the goodies to give out tomorrow… I put together 30 medical gloves filled with candy and 3 sets of Halloween gloves for my boys…

this morning I woke up with a headache… not the greatest start to the day…

had an 8 am dentist appointment for a filling… was very proud of myself… for the first time ever I wasn’t gripping the chair the entire time… I have been very nervous of dentists since I had a bad experience when I was little… my dentist specializes in “chickens“, lol…

the headache didn’t go away, so when I got home, I slept for an hour and a half… still there when I got up, but I made some supper and got ready to go out…

one of my BS buddies picked two of us up, and we peeled and sliced just under 15 pounds of potatoes for another member of the group… her brother’s memorial service is tomorrow and the extended family will be gathering at her place for dinner… she is a great cook and it was fun to see her family recipe for scalloped potatoes, slightly different than the ones we each use…

were done in an hour and home shortly after…

heading to bed looking forward to waking up with a clear head…

been a long day… hard to get out of bed as I felt very tired…

on top of that it snowed today… thankfully it melted as it hit the ground…

usually we get our first snow on Halloween…

dark and overcast all day… bit of a downer…

really thought about putting the meat in the crockpot, although I wasn’t sure how long it would take so I decided not to…

when I got home I got the pot with my dinner in it all organized, but didn’t turn it on… still not sure of the new stove so I didn’t want to be worrying about whether the liquid might be evaporating and burning up…

after aquasize I put it on and then watched some tv while it was cooking…

should really have simmered a bit longer, but after an hour or so I had some and it was good…

started the morning following a boat that was motoring down Portage Avenue…

had a nap, tidied the kitchen and spent good time with my BS buds…
