yesterday I got my 500th Like… pretty cool…

when I woke up my ear was completely blocked and it took quite a while to start to hear… went to the clinic by the office and after they cleaned out my ear (ugh), they decided I have an infection and now I have a prescription for drops for the next week… so, much as I hate liquid in my ears, guess I’ll be learning how to get the drops in… yuck

this morning I took a few pictures of the trees down the street…

IMG_8434.JPGthe leaves on the ground were a lovely shade of yellow and orange

IMG_8435.JPGvery happy it is Friday…

another beautiful day… sun shone the whole time…

IMG_8425.JPGseemed like it was bigger and had moved over in the sky, lol…

always amazes me how morning glories seem to be lit from within

IMG_8421-1.JPGthe hibiscus has both a red and a yellow bloom today…

IMG_8423.JPGcolours in the garden are changing every day…

IMG_8424.JPGI do love the myriad of colour that autumn brings…

IMG_8383.JPGonce I got out of the driveway, I stopped to take this picture of the trees down the street…

IMG_8384.JPGyou can see a few leaves under it… I was happy with how the flag was waving too…

when I turned onto the street tonight I stopped once again and got this picture…

IMG_8385.JPGtons of leaves dropped throughout the day… apparently it is Fall

this is a strange cold… coughing comes and goes… my head feels like cotton and at night I feel like I still have my headset on… some days it seems like I’m improving and then it rears its cold head… lingered long enough…

forgot to turn my alarm on last night so I woke up half an hour late… still had to stop and check for morning glories, lol…

IMG_8371.JPGyesterday there were five blossoms, today just this one

at the end of the day this hibiscus was smiling at me…

IMG_8372.JPGhad the windows down and the moon roof open and enjoyed the 28 degree temperature… first day of Fall…

had a wonderful morning in the garden and down the street…

IMG_8358.JPGwas working a later shift, so spent a couple of hours in the sunshine… watched the morning glories open

IMG_8359.JPGthe hibiscus was beautiful…

IMG_8365.JPGwhile I was standing at the pond this squirrel came by and gave me a good look before leaving…

IMG_8366.JPGand this chickadee came to the feeder right beside me… very strange because usually they are quite nervous of anyone in the area…

IMG_8361.JPGwandered down to the park at the end of the street to get some pictures of the Virginia creeper, which was spectacular… took a lot of shots…

as I walked back up the street spent some time with this gorgeous tree…

IMG_8364.JPGfinal shot was up through the tree…

IMG_8362.JPGwhat a great time…

on my way home Friday night I really noticed the changing colour of the leaves…

this picture shows the Virginia creeper in the garden… more and more red…

IMG_8319.JPGI’ve also noticed leaves coming down everywhere… besides yellow ones drifting down in the garden, I’ve noticed piles where they have dropped en masse under some trees…

the trees across the creek are looking beautiful as fall advances…

IMG_8320.JPG George and I used to take a drive on a Sunday in the fall to see the beautiful colours along the highway…

I don’t remember dreams, but lately I’ve been dreaming about him… woke up a few days ago thinking he was downstairs making breakfast… took a few minutes for my new reality to sink in…

IMG_8321.JPGmore colours looking out the windows… feels as though fall is hurtling towards us…

I have absolutely refused to turn the heat on… even though it has been fairly cool for the last few weeks…

at work we’ve had every heater we own going full blast as the boiler doesn’t start running until late September… they turned it on Friday morning and then we melted, lol, while they were testing it… need sweaters in the summer and sleeveless tops in the winter… must say I notice many others on the street in the same situation…

at home a few days ago I did turn on the radiant heat in the bathroom…

IMG_8290.JPGnow the tiles are toasty warm:-)…

IMG_8289.JPGwon’t be able to hold off for much longer…

on my way to work this morning I took a few pictures of the lovely cloud formations…

IMG_8286.JPGluckily had to stop at a few lights so I was able to get good pics… often when I see something, the traffic flows so smoothly that I don’t have the needed opportunity…

there were no morning glories at home, but when I arrived at the office a colleague had picked a beautiful one from her garden and brought it in…

IMG_8287.JPGgot a shot of a bendy bus as I was sitting through five lights at Portage Avenue… knew that we had a couple here, but hadn’t seen any:-)…

IMG_8288.JPGit was just before five and the traffic was absolutely crazy… had been overcast all day and started to pour just as I turned onto Portage and it rained all the way home…

finally starting to feel better…

last night and this morning I worked on a crockpot recipe for our potluck today…

for the last year or so we have had Souper Thursdays where we’ve taken turns bringing soup for our lunch…

today was our kick-off meal…

I chose to make crockpot scalloped potatoes… spent quite a bit of time on Pinterest looking for possibilities…

on Sunday I made a test batch which we had to go along with the tacos, lol…

came out very nice and were cooked perfectly

last night I made the cheesy béchamel to go on top of the potatoes… I have always called it white sauce and have used the recipe that I learned in grade seven home economics class… still have the book… but really béchamel sounds so much fancier, lol…

I also prepped the onions and peeled the potatoes… I enjoy thinking of the people who will be eating my food as I work…

this morning got up, sliced the potatoes and filled the crockpot with the potatoes, salt and onions… then I poured the sauce over and took the whole thing to the office… plugged it in on high and left the crockpot to do its work…

hmmmm, apparently four hours wasn’t quite enough time, so had to nuke them to finish cooking right before our lunch… put a few more potatoes in and guess they needed just a bit more time…

but my crockpot is beautiful

IMG_8265.JPGmy daughter bought it for me and I traded my black and silver one with her for this gorgeous purple one…

potatoes were good by the way…

noticing every day how there is less light… waking up in the dark and needing to turn on the lights to get ready…

the sun is setting around eight so it is dark before you know it… less than thirteen hours of light each day…

the garden is struggling as well, what with the low temperatures… I check as soon as I get outside to see if any morning glories have braved the weather and bloomed…

IMG_8256.JPGI can’t see a morning glory without thinking of George counting how many were blooming each morning when I was in hospital for a six week period, and often bringing me a picture… sure do miss him…

IMG_8257.JPGhard to see, but this is a picture of some geese flying over first thing… the sound of their honking makes it clear that Fall is coming, lol…

IMG_8258.JPGfresh tomato with my chicken, potatoes and roasted garlic tonight… love popping something into the oven and napping while it cooks…

even with a persistent cold, life is good
