up at 5:15 to clean out the hot tub and fill it before heading to work…
beautiful morning and the birds were singing… thankfully I got it all done in time…
now just have to wait for the temperature to rise…
been a year since I got home from my Alaskan cruise… wow, time sure flies… and now I am preparing for Cyndi and Ron’s arrival…
and getting ready to scatter George’s ashes, which is why they are coming…

after a short nap tonight, while I was making dinner, a lovely guest arrived for their dinner…
had a few minutes to take some shots and am looking forward to checking out the camera photos…
had a visit with a friend and then went out and started emptying the hot tub…
the last few weeks there has been lots of foam so I think it is a good plan to put in fresh water… hope I have the time to start filling it tonight, but that might not happen until after work tomorrow…
some days those big girl pants seem to fit fairly well…

first thing I had a very peaceful hot tub in the rain…
then I spent a good portion of the day watching some PVRed shows once I talked to MTS because it hasn’t been working since Friday night when the tech person was here to work on the wifi…
did take a walk to the Park to check out the tulips in the English Garden… they were nearly done but I got a few pics, although they are on my camera, not my phone… this picture is of the pond in the Leo Mol Garden…
spent a few moments sitting on a bench and watching a red-winged blackbird… arrived home just as the rain started again…
napped, watched more tv, and got a few pictures of the planters on the front step…the plants have obviously enjoyed the gentle rains over the last few days… good timing to get them all into the ground or pot, lol…
quite a lazy day…

started planting while it was still shady in the garden, but ran out of soil so couldn’t do any more for the time being…
my grandson arrived and the two of us planned next weekend’s activities around the scattering of George’s ashes…
once the plan was made we had to decide on the location which took us a while…
then we headed out to do a few errands…
ate lunch, picked up some soil, checked out plants, grabbed a few things we will need on the weekend at the Dollar Store and found some fish for the second pond…
came home, had a rest and basically finished the planting…
throughout the day the elm tree has been raining down thousands of seeds… the pond was full of them even though we cleaned a bunch out…
we got all the planting paraphernalia put away and my helper was picked up… I sat out in the garden enjoying the day…
it was lovely to have his company today:-)…

thank goodness it is Friday…
seems like it has been a long week…
had to rush home to be here for the MTS person who was coming between four and eight…
and of course, once home I had to stay in the house to be sure I didn’t miss them…
he arrived at quarter to seven and changed the router in the hope that it would provide a stronger wifi signal in the garden… took about forty five minutes but unfortunately it didn’t change things in the yard…
he suggested that using my data program would probably be better and faster… he also mentioned that iPhones don’t have good antennas… so, I will give MTS a call to be sure I have unlimited data and not worry about the wifi in the garden…
took a picture of the clematis which is growing fast and furiously…

tonight I spent a bit of time in the garden…
sadly, not to plant, just to sit and read…
while I was out there robins were singing and the goldfinch family came by for a snack, and sang for their supper…
while enjoying the music of the waterfall, I also spent time watering… particularly as I haven’t had the energy to plant the rest of the haul from Saturday and Sunday… hoping to keep them alive until Saturday morning when I am sure to get them into the ground or pots…
the pansies that are planted are very happy…
the lily of the valley are blooming and smell lovely…
two exciting things…
the poppies are thinking about blooming… quite slow this year, but I am thrilled that they came back on their own…
and the coneflowers have started to grow… this is also very exciting because I was sure they weren’t going to return… we’ve had them in the garden before but George would pull them out every spring because they look much like a weed…
my plan is to let everything grow for a while, until I am sure it is a weed or a plant I want to keep…

started out the day by planting a cherry tomato before I headed off to work…
it was a gorgeous morning and I was happy to have the few minutes to get my hands in the dirt and water everything…
planned to come home and do more planting, but got a call around 3 advising of a band concert…
in the end, went to a soccer game for the youngest grandson, for about five minutes, then on to the band concert, where during a jazz band performance our guy played a super solo…
then we flew out of the concert to get to the second half of a soccer game…
the sky was amazing and just as the game ended, the raindrops started… happily we were safely in the car when the five minute downpour let loose…
busy day…

there are still lots of things to plant in the garden but I didn’t get anything done tonight…
on my way to the car this morning I realized the water in the pond was very low, I spent about five minutes filling it… that amount of time didn’t add very much water…
was worried that the fish might get in trouble if it got much lower…
tonight I am sitting here as it fills up, enjoying the beautiful evening… birds are singing and the sound of the water is soothing…
we think it is leaking again due to something happening when the uv filter went in…
my pond guy is planning to stop by Thursday or Friday to sort out the problem…
I have noticed that when it rains the pond doesn’t get all murky like it was in the fall so I think the swale they built fixed that problem which is wonderful…
I think I am taking on some of George’s characteristics because now when I walk through an area in the garden I find myself pulling weeds as I go and then going back to pick them up off the ground later, lol… I kept trying to get him to carry a small pail so he didn’t have to retrace his steps…
what a serene and peaceful place I inhabit…

was so happy yesterday to get a new hibiscus… looked lovely in the vignette on the deck…
this afternoon when I got home it had two beautiful flowers on it… didn’t get out for a picture till dusk, but it still looks great… it is supposed to be a tri-colour so will see if some yellow and light pink blossoms turn up…
tonight I also had on the big girl pants when I removed an old scale off the wall and put up a very slim purple one…
it looks great with the lotus blossom bowl covers… useful and decorative…

very full day… started planting after I had a lovely cup of tea in the garden…
kids came over and we went to Rona and bought an electric battery operated lawn mower… stopped and bought more plants and when we got home we continued filling planters and pots…
once the battery was charged Jeff mowed the very long grass and gave me a lesson so I could do it myself if I had to, which was the whole point of getting it…
didn’t think to take a picture of it when it was all new and clean, lol…
a lovely vignette by the back door with hibiscus, dahlia, tomato and basil in some new purple pots…
pots were planted, feeder fixed, shelf built, pond cleaned and pump working, water barrel levelled and then we enjoyed barbecued steak with potatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and Caesar salad…
shortly after supper everyone headed home and I wandered around the garden to enjoy all the work that we accomplished…
such great workers, my kids… great day…
George would be proud…
