woke up to see x marking the spot above me…


think it was just so I knew where I was… 

it was chilly in the night so I did get up and put on a hoodie… my little cocoon ended up just right…


had a few visitors over the last few days…

the goldfinch has come by both days and let me get a few nice shots…


also had a bunny stop by for a visit…


must have stayed there for half an hour…

some type of bug has been munching on the morning glories… wasn’t so bad when it was just the leaves, but now the flowers are being affected;-(…


going to have to see if I can figure out who the culprit is…

been planning to spend a night sleeping under the stars for a while and tonight is the night…

it was a lovely day and I spent a good part of it in the garden watching a red squirrel stash peanuts from the neighbour’s feeder…

there’s been a hole beside the back deck for a while and today this little guy spent time going into and out of it, lol…


now we know for sure who lives there…

my bed is nearly ready for tonight… just have to bring out the pillows…


the plan is to be in bed for the 9:36 fly past of the Space Station and then maybe a late night hot tub… looking forward to some great stargazing in the night;-)…

the day took an interesting turn…

beautiful morning in the garden and then family arrived from out of town…


had a lovely visit in the garden and then ran around doing a few errands…

we met up again for lunch, in one of her favourite spots…


a few more errands and we headed to my nephew’s for dinner and playtime with the fifteen huskies and malamutes…


the kids all had a wonderful time… supper and time together was delightful… my sister-in-law is a marvellous cook and a great story teller…

she used to live here and we worked together, so I really miss her… happy to have this time together…

had a lovely early morning walk to and around the Gardens at the Park…


first time the pelicans have been around this year when I’ve been on my walks…

the Gardens are lovely right now…


the gardeners were everywhere and the sprinklers were rather a danger… took quite different paths so I didn’t get drenched…


last week I got a shot of this bench with a woman seated on it from the other side of the garden… looks different from this point of view…

as I left the Gardens the path was beautiful with the dappled light…


great start to the day…

accomplished three things today…


changed the bed and put on the new comforter that I picked up a few weeks ago… a bit of a process as I had to turn the mattress around on my own…

also climbed under the bed hunting for a couple of the dragonflies which had flown off the Love sign over the bed, lol…  

looks pretty good… although I’ve already removed some of the pillows…

then I spent time putting out all the cushions in the garden… it was hot out…

finally I took pictures of the morning glories… this is the first time I’ve had them in so many places and it is fun to hunt throughout the garden to see which ones are blooming…


they continue to make me happy every time I look at them…

great way to start my vacation;-)…

started the day watering the plants and then enjoying a few minutes savouring the sound of the waterfall…


ended the day with dinner at Moxies and the Opening Ceremonies of the Canada Summer Games with my daughter and two grandsons…



the Prime Minister took part and showed such enthusiasm and energy…

the event ended with a very cool torch…


what a wonderful way to start holidays;-)…

took this photo of a dahlia in the garden getting ready to bloom…


although I just bought these this spring it made me think about the ones we bought in 2011 in Courtenay…

we went to visit the Dahlia man… he was very old and lived on a property at the edge of Courtney/Comox… I can’t remember the man’s name, but George would have… he remembered all that type of stuff…

we must have spent two hours with him… looking at all the dahlias which were blooming and then going through his boxes and ziplock bags filled with tubers… he and my beloved talked and talked, lol…

we brought home some of the tubers and he sent more later…

they bloomed beautifully and at the end of the season we lifted them and packed them up for the next year… sadly they were put in ziplock bags and in the spring were all mushy… we hadn’t let them dry sufficiently before bagging them…

both of my girls have developed the same ability to talk to anyone anywhere and know all about them by the end of the conversation… makes me giggle… so not me…

every morning I am so eager to go out and see which morning glories are blooming…

when I looked out today I couldn’t see any and wondered if the huge thunderstorm in the night had beaten them down, as they are rather delicate… seems if something touches them they will mark very easily…

but, when I headed out on the way to the garage, I found lots…


I can’t get enough of the light that glows from deep within them…

my son-in-law in Cold Lake sent me some shots of a dragonfly tonight after supper… added one I’d taken a few days ago, lol…


dragonflies are so cool and beautiful… and wonderful how they eat the mosquitoes…

so important to take the time to savour the moments in life…

on my way to the Park yesterday I walked past the Habitat for Humanity Build…


made me laugh because I hadn’t realized it was happening two blocks away from my house… as it was Sunday there wasn’t any activity…

the Gardens were beautiful… I hadn’t been for a few weeks, so it was lovely to see how well they were looking…


lots of people wandering around so I had to stop and wait for just the right moment to get my shots… they are clearly ready for the influx of visitors to the city at the end of the week…

once back at home I spent the day in the garden… lots of reading and relaxing… very quiet… 


a lovely end to a wonderful family-filled weekend…

early this morning I picked my first pepper of the season…


looks like another two or three are starting… funny thing is I don’t really love green peppers, lol…

the morning glories are blooming all along the deck… up till today they were only flowering in one spot…

they remind me of when George would bring me pictures of whichever one was blooming every morning when I spent six weeks in the hospital…

it was so sweet…

over lunch we went to the Farmers Market and I got a great bag full of treats…


radishes, tiny cucumbers, peas, new potatoes and yellow beans (which we ate before I took the picture)…

summer is so precious…
