went to my oldest grandson’s soccer game last night…

they are nearly done their games and it was nice to get to go to one very close to home…

while there got this shot of some geese on their way over…

  
been trying to get a picture of the geese in flight all summer but just haven’t been able to manage it… I just love the sound and sight of them honking and flying in formation… such a sign of spring and fall for me… still makes me stop and look up when I hear the sound…

half an hour later I was home waiting for my BS friends to arrive and looked out at this beautiful sky… went and got my phone right away and took a few shots and then just stood revelling in the moment…

  
read a comment recently on a friend’s Instagram feed about enjoying the moment, and just got an email from another about being in the moment and how important that is…

all of these things remind me of the importance of enjoying each moment and being in the present… I have been trying to do that for the last few years… always good to get a reminder…

after supper last night at the campsite, all the boys and dogs went for a walk to the beach to catch frogs…

it was dark and nearly eleven when a skunk came to visit we three women as we sat around the campfire…

one ran into the tent, another climbed on top of the picnic table… I sat in my chair as the skunk came and sniffed my toes before moseying along to the next site…

was going to take a picture but decided not to in case it got nervous and sprayed, lol…

at 1 am it started to rain… at about 2:30 the thunder and lightning show started… shortly after that lightning blew the electricity at the site with a huge bang… for two hours the light flashed, thunder rolled and rain poured down… can’t even think of a time when I was in the midst of such a storm… made for a long night…

this morning we saw geese at the beach when we went for our cell phone connection fix…

  
had a lovely breakfast cooked on the fire…

  
bacon, pancakes and eggs was wonderful… soon after that the heavens opened again and it poured…

we gave up, packed, and headed home… saw a mommy deer and her twins as we left the campground…

  
now we are back in the city, camping out at my daughter’s new house which is pretty much an empty construction zone, lol…

and have two dogs laying here keeping us company…

  
gonna make s’mores soon…

spent a lovely hour sitting by the pond as I waited for my car to have an oil change and bath…

watched this family of geese…  

 

they are the only inhabitants at the moment… I have been there when there were many families but that must have been later in the season…

  
busy babies…

  
I was thinking the water must be cold as they paddled along for a short stint in the pond… it was a special moment…

spent the afternoon in the garden…

 
saw goldfinches…

  a black and white warbler… maybe a yellow warbler but it moved too quickly for me to get a photo… 

 
and this cute sparrow…

day filled with special moments… great to have the time to enjoy them…

sitting at a light a few days ago I watched about a dozen Canada geese fly overhead…

I love the sound as they fly over in spring and fall… always a sign that the weather is improving…

  
took a photo of the Canada goose on the wall… my mom drew it… 
she started writing, drawing and painting when she was well into her adult years…
she was very good but as a perfectionist she always thought they could be better… 
I’ve been working on overcoming perfectionism for quite a few years now, lol…
we didn’t get on for many years but once I left home I began to appreciate her… we had a wonderful last few years before she died…

tonight I just looked out the window to see white covering the garden… snow again… 
maybe spring is a little further away than first thought, lol…

been busy since I got up today…

started out with a lovely hot tub and watched geese fly right over me…

  

added pictures to the new frame and finally got it set up in the living room… still thinking I might want the 14″ one instead of this 10″ one so I haven’t hung it on the wall just yet…

then it was a cab downtown to meet my daughter and spend two hours at the Home and Garden show… might just have found someone to help me in the garden… also spoke with my pond guy and we have a plan to get it all finished as soon as they can work outside…

  

then we headed to Silver City to meet up with the little guys to see Home… ate half a bag of popcorn… can’t help myself where popcorn is involved…

stopped at Safeway to pick up a few ingredients for our supper and headed home to get it made as my son-in-law had to get to work…

cleaned up from supper and got the ingredients ready for tomorrow evening’s gathering… need to be ready as I will be working late…

luckily I am going in a bit later and have made a lunch date with my grandson who is on spring break…

might sleep in a bit in the morning because I am just a little tired, lol…

as we were driving to the office this morning we saw three geese circling and then landing in a creek…

Spring is really coming…

the pile of snow in the backyard that I thought was going to need shovelling is almost gone…

took out the recycling and garbage tonight after work… didn’t need a jacket and my feet were fine in sandals as the ground is drying up beautifully…

finally connected with yesterday’s birthday child by text and she will be home tomorrow night…

took a picture of my sand dollar wreath which has been trying to come apart… plan to get some glue and fix it on the weekend…

this morning I prepared for an afternoon memorial service as I got dressed… chose a purple top and a special scarf so that I could leave right from the office…

saw these geese as we were driving…

today the sky went from dark and filled with clouds, to sunny and clear as we drove home…

after supper I prepared the goodies to give out tomorrow… I put together 30 medical gloves filled with candy and 3 sets of Halloween gloves for my boys…

noticing every day how there is less light… waking up in the dark and needing to turn on the lights to get ready…

the sun is setting around eight so it is dark before you know it… less than thirteen hours of light each day…

the garden is struggling as well, what with the low temperatures… I check as soon as I get outside to see if any morning glories have braved the weather and bloomed…

IMG_8256.JPGI can’t see a morning glory without thinking of George counting how many were blooming each morning when I was in hospital for a six week period, and often bringing me a picture… sure do miss him…

this morning I was taking a picture of the morning glories… I can’t really go past them without checking to see how many are blooming…

there is no s – n – o – w….   shhhh… don’t want the weather gods to hear… there is still snow around, but it is melting away every day…

here’s a shot I took on the 21st… just after the ground was covered in a light dusting of snow…

the last few nights as I’ve been sitting in the hot tub I have heard the geese flying overhead… finally the water is flowing in most of the rivers and creeks… I think they must be happy that the weather has improved…

today, a number of colleagues went out without jackets on because, for the first time this year, the temperature was in the double digits…

maybe tomorrow I will be able to sit on the deck in the sun…
