rough day physically… woke up early with a very painful tummy which stayed that way… made it through the day at the office so I’d be there for an afternoon party for a colleague who was leaving…

ate very little because of the stomach stuff so am currently waiting for something to be delivered… I do love SkipTheDishes…

noticed this gorgeous sunset when my grandson and I arrived home… lovely to spend a few minutes enjoying it even when I was feeling sick…

and then my grandson shovelled… he is certainly much faster than his grandpa, lol…

always feel ready for company once everything is cleaned up out there…

was just out for a hot tub and watched the full moon for a long time… did not see any part of the eclipse though, or the comet…

missing my beloved who would have looked after me…

lovely sunrise this morning…

felt cold last night so decided on a hot tub around ten…

headed out only to discover that the strap was frozen to the side of the hot tub… which meant the lid wouldn’t open…

back into the house to find the little hammer, turn on the outside light and then out again to bash the ice…

took a bit of energy to clear the ice away and then I had to take the hammer back in and turn out the light…

finally got the lid open and made it into the tub…

beautiful and toasty warm…

might have had a short nap…

worked rather hard for that hot tub, but I slept really well after that…

what a wonderful treat today…

watched skating, skiing, snowboarding and a few of my favourite PVRed shows…

then two wonderful women stopped by and we enjoyed some tasty treats…

some of my Christmas baking gifts, chocolate from Hummingbird, ChocoSol, Decadence and Aschenti, and the ever popular raw almonds… 

always amazes me what can be found in the cupboard at the last minute, lol…

and we had a lovely hot tub in the plus two degrees Celsius weather… 

such fun to share these moments with such special people…

started the day with breakfast at the “A” as my son-in-law was leaving around noon… we took the car cause it was kind of chilly out…

good sized snowflakes were coming down so I took a bit of time and got a few good shots…

came home, packed up the son-in-law and dropped him off for his flight…

we ended up waiting with him for over a hour… always sad when they are heading home…

we headed downtown, visited Chocolatier Constance Popp chocolate shop and went to check out the Empowering Women Exhibit at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights…

we didn’t walk the ramps due to time constraints but it would have really helped our Fitbit steps, lol…

it was very windy today which made it feel especially cold… but we did go to The Forks for a short wander… nice to check out the renovations…

came home, warmed up leftover steak and lobster for supper, and then headed out for a hot tub…

in now and planning some chocolate tasting with wine and tea… then to bed…

she leaves tomorrow afternoon…

Christmas has begun… my Ottawa daughter is home for the holidays… 

took this picture of the hot tub when I returned home from running errands this afternoon… looks pretty although not so good that the ice is all the way down the wall;-(…

as I headed to the airport this beautiful sunset stopped me in my tracks…

it was still light when I arrived and I waited in the car, watching for the plane…

wasn’t very long till it landed, but the light was certainly gone on this winter solstice evening…

the plane was very, very, very, big…

home to her favourite dinner of macaroni and cheese, made by mom…

then we had some chocolate after she took the appropriate pictures for her Instagram account @peacecyndi… it was fun to watch her at work…

the leather and walnut bite we shared was delicious and then we had some of my coconut, candied violet with gold flakes Advent chocolate bar from ChocoMe…

it is lovely to look at and quite tasty…

now for a hot tub and bed…

great day with the little boys…

they arrived at 10:30 and we ran out to do some errands…

got the hot tub water tested… then we stopped at Henry’s for some help with a little issue I was having with my Nikon… apparently I had pushed a tiny button which was causing quite a big problem… I’d spent quite a while online trying to find a solution without any success… the staff person fixed it in about fifteen seconds…

on to Indigo where both boys found a book and we picked up an adult colouring book, as well as a special gift for a friend… very happy that the littlest one found a book he wanted as he tells me he doesn’t like books or reading…

went to the zoo to visit the polar bears… we saw a few, but the seals gave us a wonderful show…

six of them were swimming around…

they seem to swim mainly on the backs…

started lunch with hot chocolate and watched a few bears wander past…

stopped at the grocery store to pick up a final Advent calendar and some reindeer poop (chocolate covered raisins) and headed home…

coloured, watched tv and read a bit before they were picked up around 6:30…

now I’m resting, lol…

knew I had lots to do today so was up early and made bacon and eggs with rösti and spinach… smoothies make up my morning meals on weekdays, so I always enjoy having time to make something special on the weekend…

made a list to be sure I remembered everything that needed to be done…

paid some bills, ordered a few things on the Internet and then headed out to do some errands…

picked up the cutest purple magnetic white board and put it up on the cabinet door by the stove…

then I spent quite some time emptying, and then filling, the hot tub… it is a process… first I had to check if I needed any chemicals, then had to pick up a filter… empty the tub which takes at least a few hours… wipe it down, put in the new filter and fill it up… when I restart the pump sometimes it takes a while for the jets to work… only had to reset it once tonight… it was getting dark as it filled up and I went flying when checking the water level… the deck had become slick as the temperature dropped…

now it is a waiting game as it warms up… always like to have a fresh filter and water for when my daughter comes home… she really enjoys the hot tub…

made supper with one of my ChefsPlate meals and used the new magnetic board… worked perfectly to hold the recipe out of the way, but handy…

exactly what I was hoping for… supper was good too…

made a lot of progress on my Christmas list, which makes me happy…

on Saturday I decided it was time for a pedicure… hadn’t had one since the September long weekend while I was visiting my daughter in Ottawa…

called and was able to get in… went on my own…

got a picture beforehand…

those pink slippers were kind of bright… decided on the pedicure with hot stone massage and paraffin…

was the very best paraffin portion I have ever had… Victoria did a great job of getting the wax all the way around my feet…

chose purple glittery polish…

came out very nice, although for the second time in a row it has taken a crazy amount of time to dry completely…

because my toes took so long to dry I decided not to have a hot tub that night…

next day when I went out for a hot tub had to wear water shoes and a toque as it is cooling off out there…

last night I was sitting in the hot tub remembering when my beloved and I would sit out and watch the stars…

for a few years we would rent a hot tub on our anniversary… I was always the one who did this as I liked hot tubs way more than George did, lol… one of my all time favourite pictures is of my oldest grandson in one of the rented tubs… adorable, isn’t it…


brought to mind the fact that we’ve had it for just over seven years… when I was dismissed from my previous employment I received a settlement and used some of that money to buy it…

I think we bought it in March but didn’t get it home and going until Mother’s Day that Spring, partly because we had to fill in a pond and build a deck for it to sit on… 

first time in our hot tub…

I have loved every minute… and often think about what it took to get it…

George grew to enjoy it over time and the kids have all had great fun in it, on their own, or with friends…

it has certainly been a wonderful addition to our garden…

last night my BS buddies came over and we had a hot tub while we caught up with one another’s lives…

although the wind had been whipping around the house not too long before they arrived, it calmed down and we had a lovely time…

we settled on the top deck to continue our visit…

I was admitting to not watering as much as I need to so the plants are a bit sad… been spending all my time in front of the tv watching Olympics, lol…

next time I go away, I will have to find someone to come and water, so the plants don’t give up on me…

so, tonight, while my supper was cooking, I went out and watered everything…


the Mandevilla is very happy with the heat and being a bit dry…
