spent part of the day yesterday trying to find someone to clean up the leaves in the yard… eventually I hired my son-in-law who came today and raked everything up… then he put away all of the lawn furniture… looks great…

also trying to find a snow-clearing company as my grandson who has been doing the snow removal for the last few years is now busy with university and work and not available…

of three places I contacted, two were already filled up for the winter…

I have received a quote from the third place and will be in touch with a few questions…

hoping that it all works out because I don’t need to be worrying about snow when it starts falling, lol…

a few days ago when I was heading home from work I stopped and took some pictures of the piles of leaves in the parking lot…

as I walked through the backyard I took some shots of the leaves there too…

I haven’t been enjoying this Fall because it hasn’t been very Fall-like, sigh…

cold, snowy, overcast… what a drag…

but the leaves are incredible… even if they are all on the ground…

this morning it was hard to tell whether there were more leaves or snow blowing…

not really what is expected at this time of the year, sigh…

I had been laughing just before because when I looked outside the bird feeder was on the ground and the squirrel and birds were enjoying how easy it was to get the seeds…

maybe the raccoon had come by and taken it off the pole… which had been leaning way over again…

put a note in my calendar the other day so that I would remember to bring the Japanese Maple in from the garden…

doesn’t look like it was affected by the cold weather which makes me happy… will watch and see how stressed it will be from the move… it is a bit delicate and often drops all of the leaves when moved…

still have to bring in the hibiscus and mandevilla… maybe on Sunday…

right now the morning glories are wrapped all around the mandevilla, lol…

looking forward to spending the evening with my BS buddies… we haven’t met too often over the summer…

ah, the summer… took this picture yesterday as I was coming home from the grocery store…

many branches on the trees are bare… and the street is covered with leaves… when I took the picture I was focusing on the leaves on the street… only discovered the bare branches when I was preparing the picture… yikes…

and the Virginia creeper is moving into its fall stage…

not only is it changing colour… something is enjoying it as a snack!

must continue to take the time to focus on special moments because time is whizzing by…

so happy to see the Japanese Maple budding out with new leaves…

for a little while there I was thinking that it was really done…

this maple has travelled from Vancouver Island across the prairies in the back seat of a car, which makes it special… sometimes I have been a bit slow to bring it into the house in the Fall… thought for a short time I’d really messed up…

so I was very happy to see those leaves…

Spring really is coming…

been enjoying the colours of the leaves and trees everywhere…

took a few pictures over the last few days… beautiful orange on elms on my street and the gorgeous gold on trees in the Millennium Library Park by the office…

and this lovely collection of leaves beside Shadow this morning… the crunching sound is so cool…

I’ve also noticed a number of trees that were stunning last week and are bare now…

been missing my beloved a lot lately…

tonight as I was looking through photos I came across a few that reminded me of him…

this picture of maple leaves, which I took while visiting Cyndi in Ottawa reminded me of a great photo we took in Courtenay of him holding a ginormous maple leaf as we were walking through Cathedral Grove…

on Saturday I turned on the in-floor heating because it is getting cooler… I can remember George installing it in 2009 when we renovated the bathroom… at the time we decided not to put an additional piece of it in front of the sink, thinking it would radiate over… not, lol…

this morning glory reminded me of my 2010 six week stint in the hospital where he brought me photos every day of one of the morning glories that were blooming…

tonight a contractor came by to fix a couple of holes in the bedroom ceiling… George would have fixed that…

and finally, this rose, blooming in the garden… I cannot even guesstimate how many roses he brought me in our life together…

I truly have been blessed over the years… and even now as I am able to enjoy these wonderful memories…

enjoyed the Virginia creeper this morning…

it is changing everyday and starting to look quite lovely, but unfortunately this also means that fall is coming…

the pergola that George built looks spectacular right now…

of course there were flowers blooming…

lots of purple today…

the sun was trying to make it through the smoky sky as we were driving downtown…

strange, but beautiful…

took the bus, on my own, to meet my daughter after she got off work…

we had lunch at Bier Markt... and I tried oysters again… they were yummy, who knew…

then we went to see Kontinuum… it is a free light show in the new subway… it was quite neat…

afterwards we walked over to the Parliament buildings and took a few tourist-y shots…

the bus from her house to downtown was just an ordinary one, but on our way home we got on a bendy bus… yay…

took a few pictures of trees and leaves on our walk from the bus to the house… the maple leaves are beginning to change colour… very pretty…

after supper we did a small 100% cacao chocolate tasting…

and ended with the cutest little Brix bar which is made to slide over a wine bottle…
