early this morning I got a picture of the large morning glory blossom…

thank goodness it’s Friday… looking forward to seeing one open completely tomorrow when I will be here all day…

more dahlia blooms… very pretty…

other excitement was that I spotted a frog in the pond… let’s hope this one stays healthy…

been very hot here for the last three or four days… supposed to be the same tomorrow as well…

been eating fish a lot to help raise my good cholesterol, and tonight I had falafel in cute little cheese buns which I got yesterday at the Farmers Market… also put some of the tzatziki on them… cute and very tasty…

hard to believe there were only four working days, cause I am quite tired…

think I am going to enjoy these next two days filled with quiet and peace…

so excited this morning because the second batch of morning glories have blooms on them… when I bought them I had no idea what size or colour they would be…

they are huge and purple… I was thinking they would be light blue so I am very happy…

the mandevilla continues to produce more flowers and buds…

ran across to the drugstore before work and picked up some AfterBite to deal with these mosquito bites… not sure if it is working that well…

this afternoon I wandered over to the Farmers Market and picked up some great items…

besides the great veggies I got some amazing tziki, some yummy cheese biscuits and a beautiful purple glass pendant…

ran into a friend on my way… great to spend a few minutes catching up… she and her daughter were just coming from the Market… she is an amazing person and we plan to meet at the hot dog cart on the corner one day soon…

had the eggplant and cucumbers as part of my dinner… tasty…

cleaning up my Contact list, came across a fabulous picture of a recently departed friend… she loved orange, which made me think of this picture I took this morning…

I miss her…

first thing this morning I had a physical with my new doctor… I still go to CancerCare regularly so the process was quite simple…

he is very nice and down-to-earth… discovered that there is lots of diabetes in his family… bad for him, but good for me…

the great news is that I don’t have to poke myself unless I am not feeling well… he was pleased with my blood sugar numbers and very impressed with the printed summary I brought from my UltraMini, lol… he hadn’t seen one before… he was also very impressed with the fact that I had brought my A1C number down from 8.7 in November to 6.2 in March through diet and exercise… hoping today’s blood tests will show it even lower…

he’s into technology and we talked about how great the MyFitnessPal app is… he uses it as well…

the not-so-good news is that he wants me to lose more weight… going to start with fifteen pounds, although he would like twenty-five…

talked about taking drugs, but we will discuss it again when I see him in 3 months…

took myself out for breakfast once I was done… had an egg Benedict at Perkins…

didn’t even feel that uncomfortable being there on my own…

once home, spent some time in the garden before the rain started…

must have been fifty sparrows in the garden at once… think they were filling up on food and water before the weather changed…

identified a wood frog as the guest in the bathtub pond… put a board in to act as a bridge in case it wanted to get out… previously we’d only had Leopard frogs…

happily there were four morning glory blooms today…

finally took the time this morning to hook up the splitter for the garden hose… now I can either run water into the regular hose, or into the hose that goes underground to the pond… will make it much easier to fill it when it is low… which, sadly, is still happening on a regular basis, but at least the waterfall is beautiful, lol…

was quite easy to do, but did make me feel that I was wearing my big girl pants…

later the kids came over and we left my grandson to work on the front flower bed and went to a couple of garden centres to see what they might have…

had a lot of fun…

new baskets hanging…

got two amazing baskets which are adding to the beauty of the pergola by the pond…

morning glory and parsley…

and a number of other plants… happily was able to get a couple of morning glories as, of the two packages of seeds I planted, about three have come up and they are very small… these ones are my favourite blue and I can hardly wait until they start blooming…

also picked up three parsley plants… monarch caterpillars love parsley and my grandson spotted a couple on the parsley plant at their house… hope I get some too…

while they were here, the little boys cut some roses for me… they are from the plants that my dear friend and neighbour Ellen gave me when she moved…

I do love the garden and really appreciate having my grandson come and help me on a regular basis…

just got everything planted when the sky clouded over and thunder, lightening and rain came down… hope that everything survives the downpour…

had to take the car to work today so after I got off I decided to stop at the credit union to deposit a cheque and get some cash… traffic along Portage was brutal and I was worried I wasn’t going to make it before they closed at five, but I just snuck in under the wire…

next, went to Home Outfitters where I had a gift card from over a year ago… just found it last month… thought I would check out what type of goodies they had that I might need…

had a lovely wander around and chose a few fun things…

got a silicone oven mitt on sale, a new cookie sheet to replace one of the very stained and bent ones in the cupboard, a cute scarf hanger which might hold the scarves that are currently on three different hangers… and finally a purple mini food processor (on sale too)…

it was great fun…

had shrimp for dinner, went out for a hot tub and watched a bit of TV…

really needed to add some colour to my day so found this shot from the summer… I do love my morning glories…

five years…

it was overcast and cool this morning… the morning glories were struggling with the temperature… not sure how many more blooms there will be…

the leaves are falling very quickly and there are less than half of the coloured Virginia creeper ones left along the garage…

today marked the fifth anniversary at my work…

we each have a box where other staff members can write and put notes of appreciation and thanks… my box used to be purple, but has faded to blue, lol…

so, to celebrate, I wrote a note to each person on staff thanking them for their contribution to these five years… and I brought in some nuts and a lovely chocolate haystack… we do love treats to eat…

we have been through a lot during this time… I have struggled with two serious illnesses/surgeries and my colleagues have been walking this new journey with me since George’s death… they really are amazingly supportive…

one of my colleagues had brought in some flowers from home yesterday, and this morning she shared them with me…

I have been blessed in all of the positions I have held… from a year at a law office, eight years at Transport Canada, contract work from home while our girls grew up, assisting my sister-in-law with her real estate business, a year at The Faculty of Theology at the U of W, ten years at a theological college, to these last five wonderful years…
