this morning the sky was overcast and dull…
and it was rather cool…
got a few pictures of the Virginia creeper growing up the fireplace chimney at the front of the house…
the colours sure are cool…
very happy that it is Friday… seems like it has been a long week…
I am getting the start of a cold, which is not cool, sigh, so I treated myself to a lovely Thali dinner via SkipTheDishes…

seems nearly everyone was talking about the solar eclipse…
since early morning the weather was not looking good… they were projecting rain and cloudy skies for most of the day…
we were sure we wouldn’t get to see anything but decided to go and stand outside just to be part of the excitement…
a colleague arrived back from lunch with the proper eyewear and just for fun we looked up…
and the clouds parted in a tiny circle and we saw the eclipse… it was great fun as we passed the glasses from one to another and even to a few passers by…
less than five minutes and the clouds rolled back in…
now that was a moment;-)…

another overcast and rainy day… but, I decided to go for a walk anyway…
made it to the Park and part way around the Gardens before the rain began…
took at least six pictures, from various locations, of this tree in bloom… just stunning…
this shot has tulips and lilacs… the pond on the right is now filled with water and the fountains are running… excited for the water lilies to be added in…
this year the tulips are red and white, I’m thinking a nod to Canada 150… usually they are multi-coloured…
had to open the zoom and dry the camera when I got home to be sure it wasn’t damaged by the rain…
had some tea to warm my hands which felt frozen by the time I got home…
went to Save-On-Foods and did a grocery shop… been enjoying shopping there… they have the very best coconut Greek yogurt… with a low sugar content… they also carry the Pro Activ margarine that can be difficult to find… was nearly blown away trying to get to the car with the bags…
got home, put away the groceries and had a nap…
focused on seafood for the week’s meals…
made jumbo prawns with rice, fresh asparagus and green onion for dinner…

first morning this season that I didn’t need to turn on the light in the bedroom…
great sign that Spring really is coming…
been overcast for most of the day and it is still quite cool with a bit of wind…
looking forward to some sunshine although it might not turn up until Friday…
been a month since we were on the sun drenched beaches of Mazatlan…
have to channel some of that weather, lol…

lovely sky this morning, even with the overcast…
that is the sun in the trees…a bit later it started to snow and it snowed for three or four hours…
picked up by my kids and went to their place to celebrate the eight year old’s birthday…
they showed me their shark, that they got for Christmas, after they topped up the helium…
ready for cake… it looked delicious and the birthday boy was happy…
got very quiet as everyone was gobbling it up…
home soon and then to bed…

up early again… no doubt tomorrow I will want to sleep in…
another serendipitous moment when I peeked out the patio doors and caught sight of this beautiful goldfinch having breakfast at the feeder, on this overcast/rainy day…
put on those big girl pants and drove around the Perimeter to get to my daughter’s place… we went shopping before the family birthday party for the middle grandson and his daddy…
picked up new swimsuits for everyone to have here for the hot tub and one for me to leave at their house for their new hot tub…
tested out the hot tub, and both it, and the new swimsuit, were great…
also picked up a Canada Day t-shirt…
my older daughter encouraged me a few years ago to have an appropriate shirt on Canada Day so I’ve been doing that…
after supper the birthday boys blew out the candles on a Blizzard Cake from Dairy Queen…
drove home and got a shot of two more hibiscus flowers…
quite a fun day, even if I am exhausted, lol…

early morning again, but chose a hot tub as I was awake anyway… even though it was overcast, the birds sang the entire time I was outside… lovely start to the day…
great brunch with friends at a location I hadn’t been to yet… nice… also good to catch up…
my daughter and I went to Shelmerdine to pick up the last few plants for the garden… so happy to get the butterfly bush and milkweed… while we were there picked up four shubunkins for the pond…
these should encourage the monarchs to visit the garden this summer… hoping my grandson comes by tomorrow so he can dig these in, lol…
although all the rain has been a bit of a downer for me, all of the plants are very happy… they’ve grown tremendously in just a week…
the fish went into the winter condo as we are waiting for the tadpoles to turn into frogs before they move out to the pond…
ended the day weeding – a tiny bit – and reading in the garden…
never did rain… ended up a great day…

the sky was overcast and it was spitting this morning, but the lovely mini roses on the kitchen counter looked gorgeous…
took this just before leaving the house at seven…
there are lots of plants with flowers on them all over the house because it isn’t warm enough to put them outside… sure do make me happy…
a young friend is working on some containers with airplants so I took a picture of mine… think I might search out some moss to put in the bottom of them…
the sky caught my eye around 6 tonight… rather foreboding…
and by 8 it looked like this…
nice transition… sadly, it has gone back to the dark overcast…
was up and out early, so I am heading to bed as I’m tired… another early day tomorrow…

over the last few days we have had a variety of weather… really cold days, with a nasty windchill, and slightly warmer ones… then there was time when the snow was melting… crazy…
there has been quite a bit of overcast sky… on Sunday I caught this picture of the backyard… the bunny is just under the trees…
everything was covered in a dusting of snow and looked so pretty…
later in the day the bird feeders in the front yard took centre stage…
Monday, the sun was out and I got a couple of shots of it going down behind the clouds across the creek…
last evening as I was waiting for a ride to aquasize I spent a lovely few minutes watching the clouds scoot across the sky as the sun was travelling down…
often when I am waiting for a ride I have my phone in hand and am focussing on two or three things at the same time…
not this time… wonderful…

yesterday I walked over to the Park and took a few shots along the river…
although it was overcast the snow looked so pretty…
also took a picture of where our favourite tree stood…
the bench in this shot is right where the tree was… Dutch elm disease… very sad…
overcast again today and when we were out we looked at orchids at IKEA… we talked about the amazing orchid I’d purchased there so many months ago…
