yesterday I walked over to the Park and took a few shots along the river…
although it was overcast the snow looked so pretty…
also took a picture of where our favourite tree stood…
the bench in this shot is right where the tree was… Dutch elm disease… very sad…
overcast again today and when we were out we looked at orchids at IKEA… we talked about the amazing orchid I’d purchased there so many months ago…

woke at five, then climbed back into bed to finally get up around seven…
my son-in-law worked the overnight shift and got home about 7:15 so we had tea and waited for the rest of the family to wake up… he’d seen the beautiful full moon on his way home and heard that it won’t fall on Christmas again until 2034 and that it hadn’t happened since 1977…
so I had to go out into the middle of their street to see it and get a few photos before it vanished… didn’t have my tripod so was pleased that this one came out…
then I took a few photos of their house in the early morning light…
everyone got up, with a bit of coaxing, and we opened gifts… we all did very well…
lots of technology this year with tablets and wired headphones for the little people…
and a wireless headset for the oldest, who was visibly pleased… which, for a teenager, is pretty spectacular… well done mom and dad…
my stash included some cool technology for meal prep and a few purple items, lol…
we sat down to freshly made waffles and covered them with fresh fruit and a bit of whipping cream…
by the time we finished making them no one was left at the table, so this is a picture of what I had, lol… it was delicious…
rests were had, games were played, books were read, naps were taken…
dinner was a lovely roasted chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, brussel sprouts, raw carrots and French fries made in the new fryer that only used a few tablespoons of oil…
quiet time with a bit of colouring after dinner…
home now and planning to head to bed… full day…

first thing this morning I took this picture of the spiral tree outside the door…
it had snowed a bit overnight and just dusted it a bit…
here is a picture I just took of the same tree…
been snowing for most of the day, as you can see from the amount of snow on it…
my grandson came over and shovelled tonight… he came to the office and rode home with us through the very slow traffic… once he was finished his mom picked him up to take him home…
after supper I went on a cooking spree… made hummus and cut veggies for our potluck tomorrow… mixed goldeye cream cheese and almost have the zucchini basil soup done…
veggies ready…
now to bed… been struggling with a headache for most of the day…

had an excellent sleep last night… been waking up between four and five and then not getting back to sleep… this has gone on for over a week… so, waking at just after seven was wonderful…
my daughter came by shortly after that and we went out for some shopping and breakfast…
her first time driving Shadow… here’s a shot just before leaving…
apparently she has never named a car… how odd…
although I am done shopping for Christmas, I was able to find a few additional gifts, lol… maybe I shouldn’t be leaving the house…
picked up a few fish for the tank… the young woman who helped me went out of her way to pick pretty ones…
you can see one of the bigger fish under the rock to the right… the new ones are very small, but they will grow and already seem comfy in the space…
this is a close-up of the newbies… they have very nice colouring…
one other thing I got for me was a cute tree from Rona, and a wreath for the front door which I had been eyeing and couldn’t leave behind…

spent the day enjoying the beauty around me…
first thing, I took pictures of all the flowers in the house…
between the two purple orchids, the purple mums and the vase of spring flowers, the coffee table looks amazing…
there are tulips on the dining room table as well…
at the office, we had more vases filled with beautiful flowers… shared them amongst the staff who were in…
spent the lunch hour at a wonderful restorative yoga class…
had time throughout the day to reflect on the amazing people I work with, and how lucky I am…
walked from the end of the street tonight and had to stop and take a picture of one of the trees, a Russian olive, I think… it is quite a lovely colour and the leaves are out now…
sat on the deck enjoying the sounds of the pond and reading for a while…
looking forward to a wonderful three day weekend…
I am surrounded by beauty everywhere I look…

this morning as I was getting ready for work I stepped outside and looked at this tree covered in snow…
as I looked across the street the moon was full and over the neighbour’s house… pictures on my phone didn’t turn out, sadly…
full day back at work after two weeks away… happy to get home and have a rest before supper…

this morning we spent a couple of hours opening Christmas gifts, taking turns around the room… we’ve often followed this process which means that each person can see what everyone else received… also a great opportunity to say thanks for their gift…
the tree was gorgeous and the ground below and behind it was jam-packed with treasures…
presents were well thought out and just right for all… my favourites were a photo book of our balloon flight this summer and purple cooking pots…
after a great breakfast we headed home… got the turkey stuffed, had a snack and a lovely time in the hot tub… naps were had by all…
family arrived, dinner was eaten and Auntie read the story of the pink giraffe… Grandpa used to read this to the boys…
a wonderful time filled with special moments…

everyone is tired and ready for bed…
now, if only the little people would go to sleep…
as we left the house to spend the night with the kids, I took a few shots of the spiral tree on the front step…
first time since we put it out that it has snow on it, lol… good view of the swag as well…
now we are waiting… for Santa…
earlier today I was thinking about how busy our Christmas eve’s used to be… running around picking up the last few bits and pieces for gifting, or doing set up so that everything would be ready in the morning…
today I waited for the Ottawa kids to arrive, and then spent time preparing food for tomorrow’s dinner…
in this season of peace, love and joy, I wish you and yours time with those you love and the opportunity to enjoy each of those moments…

spent the day in my jammies…
had a lovely time preparing parcels, listening to the Christmas music of Neil Diamond and Michael Buble…
wrapped parcels went by the tree…
might add a few more ornaments as I go through the remaining boxes, but it looks pretty good…
the coffee table looks exactly how I imagined, but still needs more purple balls… with any luck I will find more as i go along…
the little boys helped me decorate the stairs with trees when they arrived for supper… things are sticking out a bit more than usual… it would make George crazy because he didn’t like stuff taking up space on the steps…
beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

took the decorations off the tree and moved it so that I could see out the window again…
Norfolk pine in its new home…
rather funny, because now it feels like there is a gaping hole and the window looks huge…
this tree ended up being filled with a garland of butterflies that Cyndi made, as well as a snowflake with my name stamped on it, and the leftover hearts which she had made as gifts for her friends…
all decorated…
today I gave one of those hearts to a dear friend who stopped by… haven’t seen her in a very long time so it was wonderful to have the opportunity to catch up… she had to climb through some serious snow to get into the house, lol…

while she was here, Crystal and the boys arrived and Crystal and Kyler shovelled in the freezing cold, while the little boys visited with us…
they got the snowblower going but it stopped after just one sweep of the driveway and so they had to hand shovel the rest… took them ages and they had to keep coming in to warm up…
snowblower quit after one sweep…
the great news is that the driveway, sidewalk and back are clear and if needed I can take the car out…
shovellers at work…
hopefully it will be warm enough tomorrow so that I can go out and put chemicals in the hot tub… although, even I don’t plan to hot tub in these temperatures…
