once again it was leaning to the side… pulled out the small screwdriver set and took off the outer piece… tightened the screws up and then reattached the main piece…
will see how long it lasts as I think the inner screws are stripped…
yesterday, I headed out to see the eye doctor and had to return to the house because I forgot my mask🤪…
I took out another one and put it into the glove compartment so if I forget again, there will be one available…
I was there for over two hours… apparently, my eyes and my current glasses are special, lol… the attention to detail and care of clients is quite amazing in these days of get ‘em in and get ‘em out… we also did some looking at new frames and discussed a number of possibilities for lenses…
as I drove up to the house, I found Hilda the Gardener just going into the garden with a beautiful hanging basket which she brought for me as a gift…
after she left I noticed that the lawn had been mowed, which was great as the grass had grown a lot with all the rain…
I’ve been working on a Christmas project and was able to finish the prep for it today… I love it when things work out;-)…
I also spent time in the “garden-erie”… it now houses the majority of the plants… I trimmed orchids and watered everything…
the new light is working well and comes on in the morning and goes off after dinner…
I am trying to find just the right name to describe the space for the garden… it is right between the living and dining rooms… conservatory seems just a bit presumptuous, lol…
a few weeks ago I read that you could propagate coleus using their leaves, and have them as houseplants which could then go into the garden in the spring…
I didn’t have any in the garden but a friend did and I asked if they would give me a few clippings…
a week ago they dropped off a few types and I popped them into a glass and set it on the dining room table…
I did a bit more research and discovered that they needed to be much smaller than I thought…
so, I trimmed them up and put them back into the glass and set it on the table in the living room…
once they have roots I will transplant them into pots and enjoy them over the winter… eventually they will make a great addition to the side garden…
I also cut pieces from two of my indoor vines and set them in water as well… I have found a couple of tiny pots and plan to put them into the bathroom window;-)…
today, a Dynacare technician came to the house and drew my blood in preparation for my doctor’s appointment next week…
she was efficient and knowledgeable and it took about fifteen minutes in total… she was masked and put on a gown before doing the draw… she was also very excited to see all my orchids;-)…
I was very happy when I learned that they can come out to the house… apparently they have done that for years… there was a $35 charge, but it was simpler to have them come out rather than have to get the car from my grandson, go to the clinic, and then have him come back for the car…
my appointment next week is by phone so I don’t have to go to the clinic…
I have the nicest neighbours… they are basically all new(ish)… when we first moved here we became good friends with a number of neighbours, but they are all gone…
since then there have been a few inhabitants of various houses who we didn’t chat with very much…
today, the neighbour across the street came over and fixed a piece of siding at the peak of the house that had come loose during the big wind storm a while back… we had a lovely chat as he tried to get it hooked back in… he had volunteered to fix it for me, via his wife, who I had chatted with the other day when the fire trucks raced down the street… he helped me last winter when Indi got stuck at the bottom of the driveway and I couldn’t get her up the slope…
the tomatoes I’ve been eating came from the next door neighbours on my right… they have been in the house for a few years now and remind me of our friends who used to live there… he spends a lot of time tinkering in the yard and garage, lol… they spend time at the lake and moved here to help with their grandchildren and have them over on a regular basis… they got a dog a few months ago… not sure what type he is, but he is small and learning not to bark when he sees me in my garden…
the neighbours behind have been there for ten or so years so knew my beloved and they would chat over the fence all the time and share tools… the other day he offered to help with the garage cleanup…
the neighbours on the left are the newest addition… they are a young couple who also have a new puppy, which is going to be fairly large… they have both offered to pick up anything I might need when they are out and about…
I think back to the gatherings we used to have on the deck… weekend breakfasts, dinners and visits… those days are long gone…
and of course, nowadays the only visiting we do is at a distance…
still, it is lovely to know that if I need urgent help I could call on any of them…
