started the day with a morning walk…
it was chilly and the wind was a bit blustery…
not much new growth, but the snowdrops I saw the other day had multiplied;-)…
the ice is completely gone so the creek is running clear now…
looking forward to the trees leafing out;-)…

went out on Friday and shovelled the sidewalk and the path to the furnace vents…
it was cold and blowy, but there was quite a bit of snow that needed to be moved…
didn’t take too long and there was a lot of snow by the vents…
glad I got to it…

had a nice walk this morning although it was 4° Celsius and windy…
saw some nasturtiums and a very tall sunflower… apparently it was a yellow day, lol…
and these cute little ghosts flying in the wind..
quite a few Halloween decorations out there…

part of the reason I shopped at Safeway yesterday was to be able to get some flowers… they almost always have something I like;-)…
I picked up tulips and a few carnations…
instead of making one arrangement, I divided them… one for the living room, one for the dining room, one for the bathroom and one for the bedroom…
the photos above were from yesterday… tulips move in their vase on a regular basis so they are fun to watch throughout the day…
so far today they have opened up and started to bend over in the light…
I’ve enjoyed watching them as I was reading, particularly as it was a bit overcast and very windy out today…

went out in the very cold weather this morning and was nearly blown into a fence… put on my warmest jacket but didn’t realize that the hood wasn’t attached… yikes…
spent the remainder of the day remembering my beloved and how we enjoyed this particular holiday… found this photo from our last Valentine’s Day…
besides the rose, he gave me a beautiful purple jacket which I put on this morning;-)…

had planned to go and pick up some mulch at Home Depot today but it has been rainy and windy all day so I decided to stay home…
lots of TV and a bit of reading…
watered all the plants in the dining room and made sure they were doing well as they wait for warm weather to arrive so they can get into the garden…
the ground is covered with elm seeds as they have been blowing off the trees all day long… with all this rain, will have lots of weeds to pull out of the garden, lol…
bit tense for the last hour or so, as the wind has really picked up… around 60 km per hour…
looked out and saw my swing blown over…
it is very heavy so I was shocked to see it up against the rain barrel…
just hoping the elm tree next door remains standing… a few years ago a whole section of it came down between the two houses…
might be a long night… not sure when the snow is going to start… crazy weather…
wish George was here tonight…

got up fairly early and headed to Safeway around 8… hardly anyone there at that hour so the shopping was lovely… there were people to answer my questions and help me out… got a nice turkey and turnip and a few other bits and pieces for Monday’s Thanksgiving dinner with Crystal and all the boys… we are planning to do a bit of yard work as well…
spoke with both of my girls, put everything away, did a few chores and then watched tv and napped…
it has been windy here for two or three days and today was drizzly off and on… had to put my morning glory pot back on the deck because the wind had blown it over this morning… yikes… that pot is very heavy…
beautiful pink sky and autumn leaves…
tonight I looked out the upstairs window to see a magnificent pink sky above all the beautiful fall coloured trees… got a nice pic…
then I looked the other way and got a nice pic of the moon peaking through the completely bare tree next door…

was windy and rainy all day long… didn’t help much with energizing me to get stuff done…
spent a good part of the day in front of the TV, reading and packing a few more things into the suitcase…
went out to the garage and potted up the new planter I bought… it was raining a bit at the time, so I didn’t want to work on it in the front yard… then after it was filled with rocks and soil and plants, I managed to move it slowly to the front and got right to the steps but couldn’t find a way to get it up where I wanted it…
so it is sitting at the bottom of the steps waiting for my son-in-law to come by tomorrow and move it up…

while I was out there I checked the side of the house, because since yesterday afternoon I’ve been hearing noises from outside the bedroom… the first time I heard them I thought something had got into the attic… but as the evening went on I realized that it was likely loose siding… and it was…
siding flapping in the wind…
then I got a couple of pictures of another new bird visitor I spotted a few days ago… it was so windy that it fell of the top of the bench while I was taking its picture with the new iPhone camera+ app…
