on Friday evening I brought the lounger onto the deck and put a number of comforters on it…
Friday night…
then, once it was dark I headed out for my version of camping, lol…
had a pretty good sleep and enjoyed looking at the stars whenever I woke up during the night… and there were no mosquitoes;-)…
Saturday morning…
the weather looked good and that went so well that I decided to sleep out again on Saturday night…
around 4:30 am drops began to land on me😳, and shortly thereafter all of the paraphernalia was on the kitchen floor and I headed upstairs to my bed, lol…
I’ve been thinking about the opportunities I’ve had to visit and spend time with family and friends…
one of the things I always do is wash up after meals… it started when I would visit my daughter wherever she lived… she has never liked doing dishes so it was a simple thing to do in appreciation for my time there…
whenever I have been camping with the kids, particularly when the boys were little, I would wash and have one of them dry… it was a great way to have one-on-one time and also get the job done quickly…
now, if I am visiting with friends at their cottages, it is one thing that I can do to be helpful…
one of my grandsons took this photo while we were camping this summer;-)…
we jumped in the boat and went to a few different fishing spots… no luck at the first one but we did much better at the second…
saw turtles and cormorants… the cormorants got a bit tired of us following them along the canal, but I got some great photos…
I also caught two fish and brought another one up to the side of the boat where it decided to jump off, lol… and the rule is, if you don’t get it into the boat it doesn’t count…
one of the Jack’s I caught was around 30 inches (second biggest of the day) and put up a fight before getting into the net… the other was smaller, but really any fish is great;-)…
good thing I have all these excellent fishers around me to provide backup and helpful instructions…
this morning, as I was reading in the garden, a small skunk darted under the gate from the back lane, along the sidewalk, and out to the driveway…
it was way too quick for a photo, yikes… I had smelled what I thought were coffee grounds when I woke up and wondered where the scent had come from… now I know…
reminded me of the time we were camping and a skunk sauntered through the campsite as we were sitting by the fire…
the girls jumped on top of the picnic table while I sat still as it wandered along under the table, by my feet, and then out of the site…
I thought if it was going to spray us, standing on the table wouldn’t help, lol…
this time I did go and close the garage door so if it came back it wouldn’t go in there…
I always put sweetener and evaporated milk in my tea… usually the can goes into the fridge, but yesterday I poured my evaporated milk into a container as the can had a dent from being dropped as it was brought up to the house, lol…
the container came from Atlanta when we were there in 2016 to see the Chihuly Exhibit… we went to a Farmers Market and I picked up a chocolate drink in it… it was tasty…
lovely to remember the fun we had;-)…
it also reminded me of our camping trips over the last few years… well, not last year…
keeping my milk in the jar saved spills in the cooler, not that that ever happened;-)…
fun to remember the history of items in the house…
my youngest grandson and I spent a few days together… it was lovely as we don’t get to spend the amount of one-on-one time that I have with the other boys…
we did a few chores around the garden and spent a great amount of time with the monarch butterflies…
we planned meals, watched the fish, birds and squirrels, and talked about life… he was even happy to take a selfie with me;-)…
we made stuffing muffins (chicken stuffing put into muffin pans), one of his favourites, lol… we had chicken and mashed potatoes for our supper to go along with the muffins… we made twice stuffed potatoes for our second supper and he reminded me to put in green onions as he likes the flavour they add to food now…
we watched the space station fly over from the hot tub…
we slept out on the decks… he thought it was a very funny thing to do, but got right into it, bringing out his comforter, a blanket and pillows;-)… I slept in the gravity chair, which wasn’t as comfortable as the lounger I normally use…
he played games with his friends on his phone and watched tv shows when it was too hot (and maybe boring) for him outside…
how wonderful it was for me to have these special moments with this young man;-)…
