so, the strangest thing happened…
I looked out at the bird feeders and discovered this…
I think that maybe the squirrel has stuffed the feeders full of grass and fur…
I have never seen this before…
wonder what it bodes for the winter…

well, last Sunday I finally made it into the plunge tub…
didn’t get as deep as my neck… it was chilly, but I made it to two minutes…
maybe, if I do it again, I will try to get down to my neck, lol…
certainly did wake me up, but I was still shivering and my legs were cold half an hour later;-)…

waited for my Fitbit to charge before going out to shovel the sidewalk today…
and when I got back into the house, there was the Fitbit, sitting on the counter, still attached to the charger…
really not counting the steps, lol…

had a fun trip to Shelmerdine today…
wasn’t going to get anything, but three Christmas gifts jumped right into the cart…
and I found one of the amaryllis plants coated in wax, that grow without water… hummed and hawed, but in the end had to get one…
it is now sitting on the living room table and I can’t wait to see it grow and produce some flowers;-)

so happy to see new tiny buds on all of the orchids on the dining room table…
it was an exciting surprise to see the newest buds on the one plant that hadn’t had a new stalk…
looking forward to some blooms around Christmas…

all of the garden work has now been completed for the winter… yay…
about a week ago I finished cleaning and putting away the last pond pump…
Saturday I finally got around to the dahlias… after watching a few videos, I used a knife to clean out the bits of dirt that were still on the tubers and then cut them to separate those with eyes, which should produce next year…
after doing a bit of research, I left a few (after cleaning them), to see if I will be able to separate them more easily in the spring when they start to sprout…
packaged them in paper bags, put them back in the pot, which went into a box in the coolest area of the basement… and wrote on the box to remember that is where they are, lol…
we will see what shape they are come spring… sometimes when the bags are open, there is nothing but shrivelled up bits of nothing;-(…
always an experiment…

so excited to see how the sparkle lights work…
the hope was they would work with the wooden lamp standard that we discovered up in the rafters of the garage (since its discovery, I’ve added extra garland to fill it out)…
I’d been waiting for some sunshine since they arrived and on Sunday afternoon the sun finally came out…
I rushed out and set them in the planter on the front step to gather power… then, once it was dark, I hurried out to see how they looked…
nothing, not a glimmer;-(…
on Monday, I searched through the box and found the directions, lol… apparently you need to attach the stand to them before they can work… and, that they can work in a window in the house… so I was outside again and connected them to the fastener…
fingers crossed…
that still didn’t work, sigh… yesterday I took one of them and looked carefully on the back and really pushed the on/off button…
well, that worked… took quite a while to wrap two sets around the lantern post but I am pleased with the results;-)…
and we got it outside…

used the tarp from the extra wood to cover the lawn furniture on the back deck…
didn’t take long at all with two people…
it is a really large tarpaulin so we tucked all the excess under the legs…

much as the snow can be a pain, it is also beautiful… especially if you don’t have to be somewhere and drive through it, lol…
the view out the windows were delightful on Thursday morning…
the snow clung to the trees and made it look like a postcard outside…
and the squirrels were busy at one of the feeders… if you look closely you will see the three in this picture…
I went out and shovelled the sidewalks and got a few photos while I was out there…
such a blessing to be able to be home, able to shovel, and enjoy the beauty;-)…

it was overcast, but not too cold on Saturday, so I went out and was able to fill all the bird feeders…
even the one that I won’t be able to get to before too long, as the snow will make it difficult or impossible to reach, lol…
then I spent half an hour shovelling the driveway…
my grandson had done it awhile ago, but there were icy tire tracks on the slope so I broke them up and tossed the bits to the sides…
the next day my hamstrings and butt were a bit sore from all the bending as the metal shovel I was using was short, lol…
I will be happy when the tires get changed in a few weeks, but now the slope won’t be difficult to get up;-)…
